Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted March 16, 2002 I went to Axxess yesterday from noon to 4:30pm. Unfortunately my friend and I got there late because our transportation was incredibly messed up. We eventually got to the line-up in front of the building at 12:05pm. The other fan reports were right. You had to wait at least 45 mintutes to get in to the building. It was the longest line up I had ever seen in my life. It zig-zagged around parked cars in the parking lot and around the building. When we finally got in, we had to line up some more in order to do anything. I eventually got the chance to "meet" Lance Storm and a personal favourite of mine, X-Pac. X-Pac's line moved very slowly because he took the time to personalize everybody's signatures and even shake hands and talk, which he wasn't really supposed to do. Nice guy that Waltman. People at the autograph booths during my session included: Jericho Hall & Nash Austin Jazz APA Lance Storm X-Pac Godfather A tip to people going today: Whenever there is someone who is not that popular (ie. Jazz) signing, the next person is usually always a main eventer. Godfather was replaced by Triple H, and Jazz was replaced by Austin. I walked by the Play by Play booth and saw Michael Cole commentating TLC 2 with a little girl. He sounded very out of it and unenthusiastic. Understandably so, since he has probably called the match many times. Poor Michael Cole. Coach was at the other booth calling the Royal Rumble match from this year. He looked like he was having fun. The arena was pretty cool. I caught glimpses of Spike Dudley vs. some developmental dude, Justin Credible vs. H2O, and Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Chris "Harvard" from Tough Enough 1. Like the other sessions, all the Tough Enough 2 trainers, Maven and a few finalists from TE1 were all in the ring doing some demonstration. Bossman, Mr. Perfect, and Kane were in the ring at one time or another as well. Other people in attendance included Debra, Moolah, Mae Young, Edge, JR, and Jerry Lawler, among others. I was hoping for more freebies. The only things I got were a bag of Doritos, couple of ads and a newspaper. Overall, I felt a little disappointed. It was certainly not what Coach and Kevin Kelly made it up to be. "Backstage pass to WrestleMania" my ass. It was more like "Pay $50 to stand in line and then pay some more to buy some merch." The line-ups were the worse, especially if you had to walk 3km to get to the building in the first place. I was barely able to stand up when the day was done. But in all honesty, it's what you make of it that matters. Some people think it's worth it, some people don't. In my opinion, I could have done a lot more with $50. Although it sorta is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Guest C-Bacon Report post Posted March 16, 2002 well, i went last night and long line-up's aside, i loved it. this was a wrestling fan's dream and i would highly recommend going to anyone going to next years wrestlemania. as soon as i walked in, i was blown away by the atmosphere, it was like a wrestling theme park. i got a photo taken with benoit with a replica title, and got autographs from rhyno, billy, chuck, the fink, patterson and brisco. we missed hbk, taker and stacy, but hey it's hard to be everywhere. the matches were good to as the hurricane went over funaki as well as some others we missed including a mixed tag involving tajiri and kidman. hebner got a huge "you screwed bret" from the fans as always. he acted like he didn't hear of course. i also got to talk to jeff marek and dan lovranski of live audio wrestling (radio show in toronto) and jeff basically told me who was going over in the title match on sunday, but i ain't gonna spoil it here. all in all, this was one of the best events i have ever attended hopefully i can go to next years if its somewhere near NY or chicago... Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted March 17, 2002 You must've been at the right places at the right time. I would have loved to see Benoit. I saw Marek outside the building as we left smoking with his girlfriend. Smoking is bad.
