Alabama stomping Miami in the 92 Sugar Bowl for the national title. It twas so glorious to see the big, bad Canes get totally dominated by the Bama running game. The Braves winning the WS. I had been a Braves fan for like 5 years and wondered why they always choked in the big game. Dallas dismembering Pittsburgh in their final(?) SB win. That Dallas team is probably the last "great" team to win the big game. The aforementioned Jordan flu game. Watching Mike sitting on the bench looking delirious was so friggin powerful along with when Scottie carried him off the court. The Jacksonville Jaguars destroying Dan Marino and the Phins in Marino's final game. Just glorious.

Home team allegances aside...I mean seriously, how can someone like the Jags? I almost boycotted the rest of that year's playoffs out of spite after that game.

I used to go to Skipjacks games back in the day, before they left Baltimore for Portland or wherever the hell they went. I remember plenty of games against the Rochester Americans. Oh yeah, I was at the game where the Providence Bruins won that cup. 1999, I believe.

I just got tired of Miami choking like a prison bitch, plus I hate Tampa Bay, anyway. And I still get a chuckle thinking about that game, heh. Hope Danny Boy enjoys retirement.

Dave Henderson takes Donnie Moore deep to give the Sox a brief lead (eventual win however) in the 1986 ALCS, Game 5. Pedro comes out of the bullpen to pitch 6 perfect innings to complete the Sox comeback against the Tribe in the 1999 ALDS. Celtics need only 6 games to dispose of the Houston Rockets in the 86 NBA finals Bourque, Elway finally taste championship success... Angels rid the playoffs of the Evil Empire.

I can watch that inning over and over and over and never get bored. BRAVES WIN, BRAVES WIN, BRAVES WIN! ESPN classic has the Braves game Sunday at 2pm, and the BoSox game Saturday at 10am. All times Eastern.

I still get goosebumps at that call and espec. the goal that the US scored I think with like 1 second left in the first period, jsut shows how far heart can take you.
Guest Crazy Dan Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 I will always enjoy Montana throwing the game winning pass to John Taylor to cap the Greatest Drive in Super Bowl History (IMO) The Laker-Celtic rivalry in the 80's. Jordon's heroics against the Jazz, when he was sick. Villanova plays the perfect game to beat Ewing's Hoyas. The Warriors beat the Lakers two times this season. (no this isn;t a moment that makes me love sports, but it does bring a smile to my face. I really hate the Lakers)
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I have to do the Ray Bourque trilogy as my top three: Him coming back to Boston in his first game as an Avalanche. I paid out the ass for the ticket, but would have paid twice as much just to see it. Bourque finally winning the Cup. As much as I'm an Avalanche hater, I was in goosebumps when it was apparent that he was going to win it, and in tears when they showed him raising the cup. (I'm sporting major goosebumps right now just thinking about it) And the last Bourque moment, being there when they retired his number 77 - to see him finally joining the other all-time Bruins was again a real tearjerker. And my favorite non-Boston moment: seeing the reaction that Konstantinov still gets in Detroit when they show him on the Jumbotron. It's awesome that they still show him so much respect and love so long after the accident.

Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted February 8, 2003 Report Posted February 8, 2003 The Wings win the Stanley Cup in 1998, one year after star defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov is brain damaged and partially paralysed after a horrible automobile accident. During the final game, Konstantinov stands and waves to the crowd, and the crowd gives him a huge standing ovation (this is on the road no less). Then after the game, Steve Yzerman picks up the Cup, doesn't lift it an inch to celebrate, but instead skates straight to Konstantinov's wheel chair and puts the Cup on his lap, as the team goes crazy and then piles around for a group photo. Afterwards, Konstantinov is wheeled around the ice by his teammates while holding the Cup. This truly brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it (being a huge Wings fan), and is easily my favorite moment in pro sports history.
