Before They Were Superstars 2 . . .

Guest MillenniumMan831

I know this DVD is just recycled Confidential stuff, but here are the extras from RAW Magazine:

- RVD - Young RVD accepts a dare from The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, earns $100 and winds up on TV (Wish they would show DiBiase making Linda McMahon bark like a dog)

- Shawn Michaels - The Rockers WWE Debut in 1988 vs. Iron Mike Sharpe and The Intruder (IRON MIKE SHARPE . . . BABY!!! Need I say more?)

- Al Snow - WWE Debut match as "Avatar" vs. Brian Walsh 10/23/1995 (Considering I've never seen an Avatar match, this should be interesting)

- Chris Jericho - WCW Nitro Debut vs. Alex Wright 8/26/96 (It'll be a hoot to watch Jericho play a clean cut woosy-fan lover; Betcha the announcers spend 3/4 of the match yappin' about the nWo)

- Tazz - Taz vs. Mikey Whipwreck Raw 2/24/1997 (Another good nugget of footage)

- Torrie Wilson - Torrie Wilson vs. Tygress in a Down Underwear Match from WCW Nitro 10/9/2000

- John Cena - Cena vs. Kurt Angle in Cena's WWE SmackDown Debut

- Christopher Nowinski - WWE Tough Enough audition tape

Well, there ya have it, 45 minutes of extras in all and should be worth the price of the dvd . . . to me, at least.

Well...Cena V. Angle was pretty good...I've seen the RVD thing...I'm intrigued by the Presence of Alex Wright, Iron Mike Sharpe, Whipwreck on WWE dvd and yet can't we get The good stuff? Nope.

I actually remember Jericho's debut against Alex Wright, it was actually a really good match, and I remember thinking "man, that Jericho guy's really going to be a star someday."

The match was alright- Jericho refused to accept a countout win or something like that. I was like: What a LOSER.

Didn't they show the whole RVD-DiBiase thing during the original BTWS segment?

Hey, I remember that Jericho/Wright match. It wasn't bad, but the lame babyface promo Chris cut on the nWo is worth it.

Speaking of Jericho, I was just sitting here watching a few of his matches back when he was turning heel. Like, how he would just DESTROY Rey Mysterio Jr., then walk away saying "I'm sorry" over and over looking real worried. Then the time he beat up David Penzer, tore up his suit, then said I'm sorry, then the next week he gave Penzer a new suit, etc...

That was one of my favorite gimmicks ever, I will never forget it as long as I live.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but the Armageddon 2002 DVD, will have the "Fatal Four-Way No. 1 Contender's Match" from Smackdown as a full-length "extra".

For someone who's been without Smackdown for a few months, this is a VERY good deal.

I said that when I first saw him in ECW, don't know why I just did, gut feeling I guess.

That's a pretty good extra, I didn't know about it. Lately, most WWE PPV DVDs include the Sunday Night Heat matches previous to the PPV. Is this one the exception or is it another extra?

And how can I find out beforehand what extras are gonna be included on the DVDs? Amazon.com usually doesn't list them with this anticipation, and neither does wwe.com, so where can I get informed on this?

I remember the Avatar gimmick. He brought the mask to the ring, and THEN put it on...

And it's nice to see the presence of "Canada's Greatest Athlete" on a WWE DVD. Odd that Jericho's Raw debut isn't here. Was it on a previous DVD?

Try Silvervision.co.uk for this type of information. Using the "Pre-Order" option on the top toolbar, you will see the upcoming WWE DVD's and VHS's. Click on "More Details", and then, they should be a listing of the entire DVD, complete with "extras". If the extras are not listed, keep visiting in daily spurts until they're posted.

I noticed an absence of footage containing the WWF scratch logo. I hope they're not keeping the release of footage from 98-2002 to a mininum due to the manditory blurring.

Maybe this is a good thing. We've seen everything from that period to death anyway inlcuding the numerous WWF home videos. This will now force them to show more old school and WCW stuff...

Funniest thing about it, the first night of the turn, right when he did that first tirade the recap I was reading (Bill's at ddtdigest.com) thought that was a clear indication that Jericho was soon to be heading to the WWF (i.e. the tirade was a shoot to get himself fired)

That tirade was a little over a year and half before moving on to the WWF. Jericho debuted in WCW in '96' then turned heel inl ate '97 early'98. I'll admit memory fuzziness here, as I know he was a face at Havoc '97 but was a heel by Souled Out '98. So,yeah..

The funny thing about the Avatar gimmick is that the look of the mask and outfit was a total Hayabusa ripoff, and while I'm at it, Kwang's mask was similar to El Samurai's. VKM, creative genius at work. Someone should post some pics to compare and contrast.

When Jericho destroyed Rey at Souled Out 1998, I was laughing my ass off.

CJ: This is the greatest moment in my whole life, YOU LIKE ME, YOU REALLY REALLY LIKE ME! What? ARE YOU BOOING ME? YOU DON'T WANT TO BE BOOING FOR ME! YOU WANT TO BOO HUH? THEN BOO!

CJ destroys Rey's knee

CJ: COME ON! BOOO!

lol

For those who have this in their collection already, is this DVD worth the purchase (considering the purchase is 24.99)?

I SOOO wanted to buy this yesterday, but the main program is pretty much recycled bits from Confidential. Do the extras hold this DVD up?
