Guest Downhome Report post Posted February 3, 2003 To all the people that wish to download games and whatnot from Direct Connect, here are some basic instrustions. First off, do you have AIM to talk about this in real time? It would be much easier, so please let me know. Here is some directions for starters... 1) Download Direct Connect, as it seems you already have. 2) Start the program, and close all of the windows that come up in it. This is just to make this easier for me to explain. 3) Up at the upper left, click on "Connect" and maximize the window that pops up. 4) Click on the "Hub Name" tab to sort the different hubs/rooms by name to make it easier to find what you want. 5) Look for rooms called any of the following, as you can get DC games from any of them... A. DC & Ps2 B. DCD's Console World C. DCD's Console World (There are two of these.) D. Dreamcast Only E. Dreamcast World ...some rooms requires you to share a certain ammount of files, have it be 5gigs or more. So try to share what you can, just to be safe. If you try to enter a room in which you don't have enough files shared for it, it will kick you instantly. If you click on the tab "Direct Connect" tab, it's the one that is always there, it will tell you the status of your connection. To share files, click "Settings" up top, and then click on the "File Transfers" tab. I'm sure you can figure everything out from there when it comes to sharing stuff. 6) Once you are in a room, type in what you want to search for up top, click search, and then watch the results show up. When you find what you want, just double click on it. Your transfers, uploads and downloads, appear in the little window at the bottom of the screen. If you do not see this window, click "Transfers" up top to bring it up. 7) Once you do all of this, and you have a game that you want, you will need to use WinRAR to "unzip" the file if it's packed up and then you will need either Nero or DiscJuggler, depending on the file type, to burn the games, you must use one or the other. 8) For a .nrg file, you use Nero, and for a .cdi file, you use DiscJuggler to burn them. 9) If you want some help while doing it, let me know when you need me and I'll walk you through it as you do it. 10) Contact me on AIM using Downhome00 if you need anything else! ...feel free to add anything, or correct anything! Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2003 Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, most of the hubs won't let me in because I'm not sharing enough GB. But it's nice to know how to work Direct Connect.
