Promo - Navigating the Windward Passage

The first thing I noticed as I opened the door to my car was that... well, there was no door. Taking a few steps back, I found a lack of wheel's, but they were nice to leave me some cinderblocks in exchange. There goes to company car, not that it was any good anyway. After being in this world for thirty one years... thirty one long years, living in this world, nothing much seems to phase me any more.

Pulling up in black porsche, opening the door and getting out of his car, Ben Hardy leans over the bonnet of his car, elbow holding his fragile frame up, and with a pretentious wink and a smile remarks, "Well that's not too good, is it?"

Except maybe that. One thing I have noticed in the two weeks I have been here is that, there aren't many people that I like. Most are driven to be here for success, to gain fame and fortune, to have the flashiest sports cars and even flashier women. I dare not to use any other word, I will not lower myself.

No, I will not be like them. My reason for being here? That's not for anyone to know, and I do not intend to tell anyone. 'Just do my job...' I say to myself, 'Wait for the right time., wait for the right time...' If I'm going to be here for the long haul, I will not associate myself with the other people that dwell within these corridors...

Grabbing a foam cup and pressing down on the tab of the coffee machine, Blackwell hopes to fill his cup with piping hot coffee. What he gets is cold water mixed with some coffee powder. He looks down at the liquid for a minute or two, until Ben Hardy walks by, chomping (and making a mess) of a blueberry muffin, taking a sip of his starbucks cappachino, foam attaching itself to his upper lip. Hardy looks at Blackwell, coffeeless, saying. "Oh, wish I could help you there buddy!" And laughing as he walks off, blueberry muffin spurting from his mouth and down onto his shirt as he does.

No one would associate themselves with... that. The atmosphere around this place is similar to that of a sweat shop, working day after day, with little rest or relaxation, people hoping that one day they will make it big. I'm not a cruel person, so I won't tell them otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I know I sound a little cold, but it's hard to speak well off such a place, and it's people. Usually, I love talking to people, even if I am silent most of the time, but this place seems to bring out the worse in me...

My journey will not falter though. I came here with a purpose, and I plan to stick with it until the end. And I'm doing something I love, but I'm glad I can go home every now and then. The country side is beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, the people are warm and welcoming...

Blackwell sighs as he stands alone, folded arms, looking down at the ground, until, once again, Ben Hardy struts, alongside him a beautiful model. Hardy grins like an idiot, kneeling down and making a baby face at Blackwell, asking, "Oh, are you alone? Sorry, can't help you there either!"

*Smack!*

Forgive me father for I have sinned.

Interesting promo, great use of Ben Hardy. I'm surprised how Blackwell managed to supress his urge to knock Hardy out... Crow certainly would have.

Damn you new SJLers being all deep and motivated! DAMN YOU! Anyway, Blackwell adds even more cool to the rapidly expanding cool that is the SJL. Feel the love.

Interesting stuff, actually.

Very nice start, I'm now curious as to what the hell he really IS up to. Good job in making me wonder.

God, our newbies rule.

Damn, another great n00b promo. A couple more like these, and the WF is gonna be SET in about four months.
