Gainesville film maker and director Ron McLellen has four short films and one feature film to his credit. He began filming "Stranded" Saturday at his home in Lula. The film is set in the 1950's and features former professional wrestler Sid Vicious plus a trio of teens from the North Hall High School Drama Class. "Stranded" is McLellen's latest horror genre creation. {Translation: "A few more and he can make his car payments."} He started his Southlan-Studios production company four years ago. McLellen said he uses technique, not blood red video to shock the audience. "We don't lean toward the "gore factor", we use shadows,lighting,the right music, the right sound effects", McLellen said. "We use everything it takes to scare you but not make you want to go home and throw up." McLellen said his films hearken back to the days of the black and white horror classics and even further back to the old radio drama days when directors and writers played to the imagination of the audience. Vicious is the star supported by the drama class members. {translated: "He gets free use of the softball field"} The wrestler turned actor looked at broadening his acting horizons during the Saturday filming. {translated: "Vicious hoped for the role of Marc Anthony in Julius Caesar that nobody ever thought he could get"} He was born Sidney Eudy but wrestling fans still know him as Sid Vicious. Vicious has recovered from an injury that put him out of the ring, but is not sure if he wants his wrestling handle to follow him into an acting career. He said he wants to avoid being stereotyped and was glad McLellen offered him the range of performance he was looking for. {translated: "McLellen's checks didn't bounce, Paul Heyman can't make that claim"} "That's why we're working with the kids from the Drama Class," Vicious said. {translated: "Plus, they can't overshadow my performance"} "I'm playing sort of a quiet character like Boo Bradley in "To Kill a Mocking Bird." {translated: "Because lord knows that I can't get my lines right"} COMING SOON TO HOLLYWOOD, Sid is The Master, and Ruler of the Squirrels!
