Guest converge241 Report post Posted February 5, 2003 sales figures of systems sold worldwide AND Xbox Live subsctiptions vs PS2 Network adapters?
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Systems sold worldwide: NA = North America, E = Europe, A = Asia. Credit UBS Warburg (big tracking company). PS2: 38,070,000 [16.1 M (NA) + 11 M (E) + 10.970 M (A)] GC: 7,100,000 [ 3.55 M (NA) + 1.2 M (E) + 2.350 M (A)] XBOX: 6,600,000 [4.6 M (NA) + 1.5 M (E) + .5 M (A)] GBA: 27,070,000 PS2 has almost triple the combined sales of X-Box and GameCube. Not much of a race. The battle for second is pretty close though, with lots of sales in Japan just barely keeping GCN in second worldwide. As for X-Box live and PS2 Network adapters, I have no idea. Reliable numbers there would probably be pretty hard to find.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Last thing I read about it on IGN, I think it was in December, that they had sold 250,000 Live units. Edit: I found the article. It said that 250,000 were sold in it's first 60 days. What it is now, I have no idea. It also said it outsold PS2's online thing by 86%. If you can do the math on that you can figure it out, I don't remember math.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted February 6, 2003 PS2 is way ahead of the pack in system sales but I don't think their online play thing isn't doing as well as XBOX's.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I wonder how many Gamecube broadband / modem adapters have been sold. Im guessing not many since they are already on clearance at Wal Mart here for $20. I've heard that Nintendo might go for LAN gaming (hooking up multiple gamecubes together) as opposed to internet gaming. One can only imagine a 32 person Mario Kart or FZero race over 8 gamecubes..of course I don't know 7 people with gamecubes so..uh..its kinda pointless.. Currently just for PSO 1+2, however there are strong rumors that Nintendo will reveal some first party games at E3 that have internet play and will be released this year. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Nintendo will have to do something sooner or later. They sat back and watched the online plans of XBox and PS2 and I think it's clear that the way XBox did it is the way to go. Not that I don't play SOCOM online for PS2 8 hours a friggin day...just that the way XBox did it is much cooler.

Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Its time for a good news bad news update on the Gamecube: Good News! All Star Baseball 2004 will have online play for the Gamecube! Bad News: SEGA will not make any more sports games for the Gamcecube and it is strongly rumored that EA Sports/Big will stop after next year if sales don't pick up. That would leave Midway's Extreme sports lineup as the only sports games for the Cube (not including any future Backyard Sports and Konami Disney Sports releases).
