Guest papacita Report post Posted February 5, 2003 I was reading JHawk's article on Hogan and Andre about how Heenan sold his contract to Dibiase in 87/88, but I'm almost positive Heenan was managing him again by Wrestlemania V (and Andre made his face turn against him the following year). Now I didn't really start watching until spring of 91, so could someone tell me how they explained Andre coming back into the Heenan family?
Guest JHawk Report post Posted February 5, 2003 Heenan bought the contract back from DiBiase sometime after WrestleMania IV. If I remember correctly, Heenan had sold it for a million dollars but had only paid $100,000 to buy it back. Talk about a profit!
Guest papacita Report post Posted February 5, 2003 lol, I see. Thanks.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 5, 2003 JHawk is correct. Heenan talks about it in is book. Basically, Andre really liked working with Heenan and the storyline involving Dibiase using him as hired muscle had run its course. Buying it back at huge profit was a subtle way to point out that he was indeed "the Brain."
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 5, 2003 Didn't Heenan also used the Million Dollar Purchase to buy Barbarian and some other guys?
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 5, 2003 Maybe, I do remember Mr. Fuji selling off the Powers of Pain, because he had the Orient Express. Heenan got the Barbarian and Slick got the Warlord.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 6, 2003 You see! I miss stuff like that...Two heel managers trading...just very heelish.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 He also traded The Missing Link for Jimmy Hart's King Kong Bundy in 1985.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Bobby really was "THE Brain".
Guest JHawk Report post Posted February 6, 2003 No kidding. Especially since Missing Link was in the WWF about six months tops.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 How true. Heenan got a guy who ME'd WM2 and gave up pretty much nothing.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Can anyone give an Offical Roster of The Heenan Family? Just to see how many Hosses and Duds he owned save for An couple Diamonds in Perfect and Rude.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 6, 2003 The WWF Heenan Family included: Harley Race Big John Studd Andre the Giant Haku and Tama (The Islanders) Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson (the Brainbusters) The Barbarian The Red Rooster Terry Taylor The Missing Link Brooklyn Brawler Paul Orndorff Hercules King Kong Bundy Mr. Perfect Rick Rude Ric Flair (side note: sorta kinda Razor Ramon when he was Flair's running buddy in the fall of '92, but never really officially) I think that's it. I could be missing someone. And there was a Heenan Family in the AWA too, but I believe we're just talking the WWF guys.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Wasn't The Brooklyn Brawler an official Heenan family member, or was he just some hanger-on?
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Dude, I can't believe I forgot the Brawler. Thanks.

Guest RevEvil Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Didn't Heenan also used the Million Dollar Purchase to buy Barbarian and some other guys? He tried to sell Hercules to Dibiase, but Hercules fought it, turning face.
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Heenane buying the Barbarian was much later than buying back Andre, iirc, and I don't think they ever referenced using the Andre Profit™ to buy him.
Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted February 6, 2003 For the record: AWA Heenan Family Members: Big Bad Bobby Duncum Ken Patera Nick Bockwinkel BJ Lanza Baron Von Rascke Hmmmmm.... I gotta think who else....

I'm pretty sure during WM6...Ventura said something about Heenan purchasing Barbarian thanks to Dibiase....
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I stand corrected, then. It's been a while, and I was young.
