Ozzfest rumors

Recommended Posts

Guest converge241

Ozzfest is currently in the midst of confirming acts for this year's trek. Black Sabbath is set to headline. Disturbed, Korn and Chevelle are among the many artists rumored to appear on the main stage

If Sabbath's there..and nothing but suck bands opening...I might have a nervous breakdown. I can't skip a Sabbath show in good conscience, but I don't want to support shit like Chevelle or Slipknot.

Slayer..please, sway my decision.

If nothing else, I'll just go late, when traffic isn't so bad.

Type O would guarantee I'd be going. Their new one's coming out at the end of april. They've got to tour.

Chevelle is a Christian Band? I've only heard "The Red" and they don't seem christian but merely agressive young punks...

Well...This is news to me...They don't look like it but Looks are deceiving...

Besides...I'm fine with Christian Rock bands like Creed, POD as long as they don't force the issue down like other groups do.

Jesus Christ, stick friggin Shadows Fall and Soulfly or SOMETHING that is can at least claim to be a form of real metal on there stat. Oh well, maybe we'll get a repeat of the POD in Texas incident where they were booed horribly.

How is chevelle getting on mainstage? They are playing at a 500 capacity club here next week....politics I tell ya, politics.

Ozzfest will probably suck again this year. If Slayer go, then the Slayer/Black Sabbath bill would probably be enough for me, but $80 is a hell of a lot of money for pit tickets. I have never been to an Ozzfest when Slayer was there, how do all the radio-god music fans react to Slayer? Do they actually like them or do they just pretend to get into them since it is "cool" ? I mean last time I went to Ozzfest there was 10,000 MALES singing along to "VooDoo" as me and my friend were laughing out loud and booing, and we recieved lots of dirty looks.

Slayer's live shows are amazing. When they opened for Pantera in '01 on the Extreme Steel Tour, the Centrum was FUCKED UP. Pantera then came out and proceeded to make the pit go nuts while sucking at the same time (fun show, but aside from their hits, they had a pretty bad setlist).

Never doubt Slayer's ability to draw, or to make the audience go insane.

Well Yah, I have seen Slayer before(Extreme Steel Tour) just never at an Ozzfest show. When i went to San Jose to see them at the compaq center, there was no doubt everyone was there for SLAYER, even though Pantera was in the headlining spot. Seeing Slayer for metalheads is like seeing Paul McCartney or Elton John for my parents. I treat every Slayer tour like it is gonna be the last.

I'm not even a Slayer fan but yeah, they can work a crowd. Gimme a bill of Slayer, Soulfly(not a huge fan of theres but its Max Cavalera so it's automatically gonna be fun live), something Phil Anselmo related and Black Sabbath on the main stage and all is well.

Well it looks like yet another shitty Ozzfest.

Hasn't Ozzfest been Black Sabbath's "last tour" for four years now. When will Ozzy finally retire because I can't wait.

Ozzy and shitty bands...Ozzfest has nothing to offer me again. I hate Ozzy, but I'd go if there were some good bands.

I kinda feel for Ozzy...Sharon's pimping out his name for all it's worth and Ozzy has ZERO control over the Band selection...

Staind?! Feh! Why should we allow Staind up there when we've got metal heavyweights like Stone Sour without a tour? Seriously, I'd be horribly shocked if Corey Taylor didn't weasle onto that thing somehow.

I saw Slayer on the Ozzfest 99 tour. The crowd was into it, yes, but I think most of the audience didn't really know the material. That can be attributed to a younger crowd more than anything, though. Still, even with a puzzled crowd, they managed to whip up a fucking BRUTAL pit, and completely demolish every other band at the show that wasn't named "Black Sabbath."

You can't detect Scarcasm can ya? And um...Stone Sour/Slipknot is nowhere near METAL Heavyweight.

Heh, buddy I think you're the one with the sarcasm detector problem. No one who is sound of mind would call Stone Sour or anything Corey Taylor related anything even close to decent let alone metal heavyweights. I was just very surprised that they were not rumored, he seemingly gets on everyone of them in some fashion or another.

We both suck with Scarcasm because the Typed letter doesn't protray the scarcasm...the only problem this whole 'Net thing has...

I wonder how much the lawn tickets will be this year...I remember in 98, it was 25 bucks..then 32...then 40.. I didn't go last year.

If it keeps climbing, it'll probably be fifty and change for the fuckin' LAWN.

Ozzfest just aint worth $80......the year I went, the most expensive tickets were $40, but like an idiot I waited too long to purchase and I had to have a seat. Last year they were $80 and the band list has been getting worse. I am not paying $80 even to see Slayer when I could go to a REAL Slayer-headlined concert for $25

The venue they have Ozzfest at here has the hill outside of the seated pavillion, so the seats are more expensive, since they're closer. The lawn is 10 times as fun, though. Basically, with the pavillion, you're paying a premium for the benefit of shade.

I'm in England and couldn't go if I wanted to (I don't) but I didn't realise how mainstream it was all getting. The idea of a seated festival is hideous in itself.

Seated venues for Ozzfest. Jesus mother of God, that more or less defeats the whole point of Ozzfest, to check out some bands and go batshit to the music.

Seriously, how does that work? Does everyone just sit and applaud nicely? Or do they stand up in their chairs and try to form a really horrible elevated moshpit?

Well here at our Amphitheater, You have Pit tickets which put you right in front of main stage, then the built in seats, then behind that on the hill the grass area. 3 seperate ticket prices. As far 2nd stage, it is pure General Admission so just show up early to get up front.
