What live shows have you been to?

I'll throw you the names, events, venues, and card notes. I'll highlight the main events for you.

SmackDown!

December 5th, 2000, Madison Square Garden

SD before Armageddon. Vince demands a divorce from Linda. Dudleys play RTC dress-up. Billy Gunn is YOUR regiening Intercontinental Champion, and Benoit puts a hurting on him, costing Chyna a tag match to the RTC. K-Kwiq and Road Dogg go over E&C, Molly beats Trish by DQ, and Jericho and Hardcore beat Regal and Kane. Benoit beat Blackman on Heat.

Championship Match

Angle vs. Austin vs. Rock vs. Taker

It ended in chaos when HHH & Rikishi interfered. The heels posed for the camera after taking out Taker, Austin, and Rock, then Angle whacked Rikishi with the belt and HHH nailed Angle with a chair.

Road To WrestleMania

March 24, 2001, Madison Square Garden

A house show the week before X7 in Houston. This was also the weekend that WWFE acquired WCW. Your card had every title (Sans the WWF one, because Rock was nowhere to be found) on the line. Jericho retained IC over Eddie, E&C beat the APA thanks to Rhyno, Test beat Val in Euro action, the Duds retained their gold over the RTC thanks to Spike, Raven kept the Hardcore strap over Billy Gunn, Malenko beat Scotty in defense of his lightwieght title and more. Classy Freddie Blassie is at ringside.

Austin, Taker, & Kane vs. HHH, Angle, & Big Show

Austin gets the pin over the game when Shane McMahon speared HHH, and Austin stunned him. Big celebration by the four faces commences.

King of the Ring

June 24th, 2001, Continental Airlines Arena

This was an awesome show. Too bad the crowd was f'n dead execpt for the street fight and Booker's guest shot. In European title action, Matt beat Justin Credible, you had Angle over Christian and Edge over Rhyno, Jeff over X-Pac in lightwieght compitition, Edge over Angle to win the KOTR title (The only title change I've ever witnessed live) and Taker dominated DDP in a three minute 'confrintation'.

Shane McMahon vs. Kurt Angle

This match was NUTS live. As I arrived at the arena, my friend and I speculated what the set would be like. I predicted it would have something to do with an electric chair, and, hot ####, I was right on the money. Anyway, as we got to our seats we started speculating where Shane was gonna jump from on the giant chair (Oh, and Heat was being taped one section over from us) Anyway, we had no earthly idea that the panels were even glass in the first place. And when Kurt suplexed Shane through the second one (Back to the arena) we saw their shadows thudding from the opposite side. Five star affair.

Championship Match

Steve Austin vs. Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho

If only HHH didn't have that injury, I'd bet that the main event would've been him and Austin. But where would that leave the CCC? (Canadian Chris Connection) Anyway, match rocked, crowd errupted for BOOKER T! Everyone was raising the roof. Austin retained as the crowd watched in silence when he pinned Benoit after Benoit backdropped Jericho off the top rope. The WCW invasion had begun, and it was looking good.

SmackDown!

November 6th, 2001, Continental Airlines Arena

Two days after my team lost in the World Series and three days after my sixteenth birthday was my fourth and most current live event, a show where I finally bought some merchandise (The RVD shirt...did I mention at the KOTR I skipped the whole X-Pac/Jeff match to go look for the Angle wrestling camp shirt, and came back with no luck?) Anyway, Jericho's heel trip continues (And boy was it good of them to have him be a heel within the WWF rather than have him jump to WCW for no reason, ala Christian) as he interferes in Rock's first WCW title defense of his new regien against Booker T, RVD does a guest shot during the match as well. In other action, Edge beat DDP, Test beat Matt Hardy, the Duds beat the APA, the 'What?' chant debuted (And I'm heard on TV screaming it), Christian beat Tajiri, Big Show is added to the Survivor Series match and Lance Storm's 'Curse of jobbing to the Hardys every night of his WWF tenure' rages on as he and Ivory lay down for Lita and Jeff. Did I mention the crowd was 20 times hotter than for the KOTR?

Austin & Angle vs. The Undertaker

A good match which was building tention between WCW members Angle and Austin. Taker rolls up Austin for three when Austin goes for a Stunner but Taker throws him into Angle, and Austin stumbles backwards into the predicament. Stunners for all post-match.

So..........how about you?

Old school stuff:

NWA TV taping in the 3rd quarter of '89:  Gilbert vs. Muta, Sting and Flair vs. Funk and either Muta or Slater, Pillman vs. Norman The Lunatic, the Dynamic Dudes vs. the New Zealand Militia (Johnny Ace gets face "smashed in" by NZM)

WWF house shows:

probably late '88 or early '89- Warrior destroys Andre the Giant in about 30 seconds to retain IC title(???,  Rick Rude may have had the belt instead)

mid-90:  Demolition (Ax-Smash-Crush version) vs. Hart Foundation.  Demolition retains tag titles.

Live RAW shows:

10-1-01 in Baton Rouge.  Crappy Shane vs. Angle and Rock vs. Dudleyz matches.  Austin Ex Machina (Austin faxes in messages to Paul E. at ringside)  On the plus side, I was holding up an "X-Pac is Wrestlecrap" sign right behind that annoying prick while Edge ran him down and did the '1998 called" bit... (I was about 4 rows up from the floor, across from the hard camera)

Too bad the sign was illegible on TV.

12-17(?)-01 in Lafayette, LA.  RVD gets a Dusty Finish over Jericho for the WWF title.  My ears are STILL ringing from that.  The rest included Storm getting a countout win over The Rock via Test's interference and the Booker T-Austin bit at the church (Booker T in the confessional).

Hmm. I went to a WWF house show at MSG in the late 80s. It was sometime after a Survivor Series (88 or 89?), and I vaguely remember things like Rockin' Robin © vs. Sensational Sherri, Hulk Hogan vs. Big Bossman. I may even have the program somewhere around here.

Not too long afterward, I also went to one at the Montreal Forum, and this one featured Mr. Perfect vs. The Red Rooster, and Randy Savage (with Sherri) vs....someone. Maybe Roddy Piper?

More recently, in early 1995, shortly after the Royal Rumble, I went to another Montreal Forum house show, this time with stuff like Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart and Shawn Michaels vs. Pierre Carl-Ouellette (aka Quebecer Pierre), which was thrown out there at the last minute as a substitute for Undertaker vs. IRS (who was injured). That wasn't a bad substitution :) Plus, we got a cool mini-angle out of it--Shawn pinned Pierre with his feet on the ropes. After the match ended, Pierre started arguing with the referee about it, and he got down on the mat to show him how HBK used the ropes. And when he got down on the ground, Shawn started kicking and stomping away at him. After a few minutes of Shawn kicking Pierre's ass, none other than hometown boy and former HBK rival Rick Martel (who was wearing a suit and had been gone from the WWF for years by that point), burst out of the dressing room for the save.

Then, a couple of matches later, Owen Hart's music started to play, but Shawn Michaels came out instead. Then he picked up the mic and called out Martel, but he never came. Shawn said "Just as I thought...another *gutless* French-Canadian", and left, but he still got a nice pop from the Montreal crowd.

After that, I was at the 1996 Survivor Series at MSG, which was kinda fun, except that I was in a really shitty seat and couldn't see anything, especially since they barely used the big screens above the ring. Lots of "nWo!" chants, and it was kinda nice to see the classic Austin/Bret match live.

Then came the first MSG Raw in September (?) 1997, which was interesting. Owen Hart vs. Brian Pillman (I believe this was Pillman's final televised match), the first Stunner on McMahon, plus I got to see Bret actually pin Shawn in the main event dark match (UT/Bret/Shawn 3-way match) immediately following the live Raw.

The last show I went to was SummerSlam 1998, again at MSG. The crowd went from chanting "Rocky sucks!" to "Rocky! Rocky!" all within the span of one match (Rock/Triple H ladder match). Some "1-2-3! 1-2-3!" chants for X-Pac, lots of "Goldberg sucks!" chants. Oh, and these two goofs did this little act behind my section before the PPV started...one of them did the nWo hand sign and yelled out "Are you down with the Wolfpac??". Of course, everyone in the section booed his ass. Then his friend kicked him in the gut and did the Stunner. That got a pretty big pop.

In the past 5 years or so I've only been to two WWF shows.

RAW from late 98...Night after the ppv where Taker and Kane beat Austin...Austin attacks McMahon (comes out on Zambonie)...Taker and Kane break McMahon's ankle...Owen "injures" Severn with a piledriver...main event saw Rock, Foley, and Shamrock beat Kane and Taker in a handycap match...Rock got the pin...and that's pretty much where his mega push started.

Survivor 99...Big show wins title...Austin gets run over...Y2J carries Chyna to the best match of the night.

So the last two WWF shows I've been to I've never gotten to see Austin wrestle.

7 ECW shows, 3 in Toledo, OH and 4 in Michigan...1st Tnn taping from Toldeo (unaired)...Balls and Spike won the tag titles...Spike goes through 2 fire tables...I've also seen Balls and Prodigette go through fire tables...was in the 2nd row for Tony Mamaluke's sick guardrail bump.

Love ECW shows

And at the ECW shows I've been to Mikey Whipwreck's record has been (including tag matches): 3-1...I'm such a mark

And more indy shows that I can remember.

Most notable was the HWA 2001 Brian Pillman memorial show in Ohio and BCW in Winsor, Ontario for Mikey Whipwreck's last match in Canada

May 1993 - WWF house show (Brockville Memorial Centre)

Some matches were Razor Ramon/Tatanka, Terry Taylor/Owen Hart, Crush/Doink.  Money Inc. vs. the Steiner Bros. was the main event.  Hogan was AWOL champ at this point, plus this was a B-show, so no WWF title match.  I have pictures (taken by my friend) here.

December 1994 - Indy show (Brockville Memorial Centre)

I think this was Killer Kowalski's promotion, as both Perry Saturn and Triple H (as Terra Ryzing) were there.  Memorable moment after the show ended, everyone rushed to the ring, and about 50 people were wrestling in there.

November 1998 - WWF house show (Corel Centre)

Main event was a Fatal 4 Way between Austin/Undertaker/Kane/Mankind.  The Rock fought Val Venis, Goldust fought a jobber and Too Much did some gay stuff.  The WWF title was vacant at this point, so no title match.

July 1999 - WWF house show (Corel Centre)

This was supposed to be at the end of May, but was postponed after Owen Hart died.  Main event was Rock/Undertaker, originally scheduled to be for the WWF title, but Austin beat Undertaker for the belt on Raw the week before, so, again, no title match.  I can't really remember any of the other matches.

March 2000 - WWF house show (Corel Centre)

The main event for this was Triple H & Road Dogg vs. Kane & Rock.  HHH was champ at this point, so, once again, no title match.  The most memorable part of this show was taking the bus home and having Kane and Paul Bearer passing us on the highway.

October 2001 - WWF Raw (Corel Centre)

This was the first TV taping I went to, so it is pretty memorable.  This was the week after Austin beat Angle for the belt on Raw, and the main event was Austin/Booker T vs. Angle/Undertaker, so, yet again, no title match.

SmackDown is in Ottawa this Tuesday and I'll be there (Floor, Sec. E, Row 2), so I'm hoping for a title match, but I'm not holding by breath.  I am hoping, however, that HHH does something Stephanie at WrestleMania that keeps her off TV, at least for a week.

Raw is War, October 1st 2001.

Live at the Riverside Centroplex, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

What a god-awful show.

Angle came out and cut a promo about 1) Why Austin wasn't there tonight (Are you ashamed? Are you upset? Are you hung over?), then he 2) called out the Dudleys for a table spot on the previous Smackdown. The Rock came out instead and, having beef with the Dudleys, offered to tag with Angle. Shane came out and booked Rock vs Dudleys, Table Match, for the WCW Title, and Angle vs Shane for the WWF Title.

Other notables include the great Edge promo on Xpac (1997 called, and they're sick and tired of you), the debut of Mighty Molly, and a six man tag that was like RVD/Booker/Test vs Taker/Kane/someone, where Taker botched the last ride by falling into the ropes.

And Heyman's reading Austin's faxes.

What a god-awful show.

Loads of British shows

1st WWF

Dublin the Point.

Andre was on crutches in the Rockers corner

Piper beat Earthquake and waved the Tricolour. Davey Boy beats Ted Dibiase in the Main and is booed out of the building. That was dumb putting a guy in Union jack tights as a face in Ireland.

Glasgow. Piper no shows everyone pissed. Davey Boy works the main and gets booed as he's English. Bad Sid/undertaker Match.

London

Flair vs Von Erich. Mark out.

Sat next to middle aged Woman screaming for Shawn and then Perfect (come on Shawn come on darling made this really funny). Piper over Undertaker. Piper was sooooooo over in the UK.

London

Horace Hogan as Predator vs Tito Santana in the worst match I've ever seen like UFC 4 Severn match with Chinholds. Hogan over Yokozuna in farewell to the WWF. Finally got to see Owen

London

Summerslam

Intense sunlight prevented me from seeing most of the card but atmosphere was great and Bret/Davey was amazing.

London

Best seats ever next to ramp near front. Awful show, realised Undertaker not 6'10 but around 6'4 6'5, He beat Giant Gonzales. Papa Shango there. Flair / Bret a let down and Flair had already left on TV. Everyone just had a bad match and I've not bothered going since.

Probably mixed up dates but that's how I remember it. Big Boss man was awful with the stomping, Max Moon was super over with the kids. Bret, Flair, Michaels always seemed to work hard. Rest didn't bother.

FWA have good shows, Revival was the best I've ever been to. Going to be in Michigan for Summer so will probably check out Detriot,Toronto and Chicago for shows.

How many times did McMahon show up at USWA shows? I remember reading about how he did heelish things...in 1993! Did he do anything interesting at that show?
