Guest Ravenbomb Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 hey, aren't they bringing Nova up from OVW? And Vince is buying ECW? This can't be a coincidence...OMG GOD, THEY'RE REFORMING THE BWO~!!!11!!!11 What? Raven's gone, I can't exclaim about reforming the flock anymore...
Guest Choken One Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I know vince owns all of WWE/WWF/WWWF footage, will own all ECW footage...but exactly how much of WCW/NWA does it he own? Does he own AWA and other defunct federations?
Guest El Satanico Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I know he owns all of the WCW footage from the time Turner bought it until Vince bought it. I'm not sure what Vince owns of the NWA era.
Guest Choken One Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I've seen vince use footage as Early Starrcade 83 with Flair/Race...so I'd say that's the oldest footage he has... Also, I believe that he also owns SMW footage from Cornette.
Guest El Satanico Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Yeah I know that they owns some footage from the NWA era, but I'm not sure how much of it he actually owns. If WWE was serious about a wrestling channel I'm sure that Vince would buy the rights to every defunct fed that he can. Other than promoters who hate Vince and refuse to sell I'm sure he'd be able to buy alot.
Guest Choken One Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I wouldn't shocked if Shane McMahon does this when he takes over in some degree...Shane seems to be an explorer in terms of Media Relations (it was his idea for PPV Webcasts and he understood how to bring that about). Shane is growing up in a Digital Age. I wouldn't be shocked if they make it an Subcription thing like HBO/Showtime
Guest hhh6294 Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 What? Raven's gone, I can't exclaim about reforming the flock anymore... If I'm not mistaken actually, I think Raven and Credible are still in the WWE, just not on TV... they're probably in the Pre-Raw jobbing roles, or doing house shows on a regular basis... but I think that they're still under contract with the WWE.
Guest Choken One Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Umm..have you lived under a rock for the last three weeks? Raven self released himself and has already become a Main event and headliner for TNA.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Raven was sent by Vince to TNA as a storyline... There he will make a new flock and invade the WWE... IT WILL HAPPEN PEOPLE!
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Someone should offer more money and start ECW again...Somebody, anybody, but Vince. I wonder how high Vince would be willing to go?
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Oh god not the "ECW will be back" theory again....
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Um..well isn't it theoretically possible? If anyone else were to bid on it, what would they want if for aside from a few $$ for some videos and dvds that wont sell that well anyway.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Well ECW has outlived it's usefullness. It was crappy in it's last days(actually after 97) and it wouldn't be worth shit these days. People chant ECW because it's a catchy chant. It wouldn't make any money if it were brought back. You're better off sinking your money into a promotion you named yourself.
Guest MrRant Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 To me the library would only be useful in DVD extra's and for sometype of PPV/Cable channel capacity.
Guest Retro Rob Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Vince doesn't own the rights to the AWA footage. Greg Gagne does IIRC.
Guest AndrewTS Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Which wrestler names DOES ECW own? Taz, Rhino, bWo, Triple-Threat, Three-Way Dance, Stairway to Hell, etc. Actually Shane Douglas owns the rights to the Triple Threat name.... *crickets chirp* *guns you down, leaving you slumped over the dead horse's corpse*
Guest deadbeater Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Wouldn't it be cool that, when they wind up owning the rights to the name ECW, they would, you know, take it as the name for their own wrestling company? No one chants 'WWE' at all.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I doubt that's ever going to happen. He'd pay the Panda's before that.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Which wrestler names DOES ECW own? Taz, Rhino, bWo, Triple-Threat, Three-Way Dance, Stairway to Hell, etc. Actually Shane Douglas owns the rights to the Triple Threat name.... Actually, Nova owns it since he invented it along with all the other names. ACTUALLY, I think WWE has the term "Triple Threat" (or at least "Triple Threat Match" for sure) copyrighted. Look in video game manuals and stuff. Next to that type of match, Fatal Four-Way, HIAC, KOR, etc., the match types are all copyrighted.
Guest geniusMoment Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 WWE owns triple threat in terms of matches. Shane owns The Triple Threat a wrestling group name.
Guest geniusMoment Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 One more thing during ECW's last days Paul offered any of his wrestlers the chance to buy their ring gimmick so whoever didn't its their own damn fault.
Guest Brian Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Or Paul's fault that he didn't pay them on time.
Guest BobBacklundRules Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Wouldn't it be cool that, when they wind up owning the rights to the name ECW, they would, you know, take it as the name for their own wrestling company? No one chants 'WWE' at all. That's what I would have done during the invasion angle, then have Vince win back the company and keep the name change. But of course that would never happen, you have to keep the WWE logic in mind and Vince's ego.
