Anyone know?

Does anyone know what some of the rare WWF videos are? I've heard that certain videos are extremely hard to get and I was wondering if anyone knew any?

Originals of PPVs that are hard to get?  I'd say the following:

Wrestling Classic

The Big Event

Survivor Series 87

Summerslam 88

Survivor Series 88

Royal Rumble 89

Survivor Series 89

Survivor Series 90

Survivor Series 91

All of the above are older PPVs that haven't been reprinted like the Wrestlemanias have.  Of the ones listed above, I'd say Survivor Series 87 is the best of the bunch, although I'd like to get Big Event because of the Steamboat-Jake match that I've heard a little about.   (The last 3 Survivor Series tapes on the list may not be any rarer than the other tapes listed or some that I didn't list, but I don't see many of these on the auction block)

As for the rest:

Mega Matches 1996 (IYH: Good Friends Better Enemies)- VERY rare.  I've seen this go for over $75 on eBay, but that was when two were listed at once.

Rampage 97 (IYH Badd Blood)-  People tend not to sell this one as often as other PPVs.  It typically goes for $25+ on eBay.

Maximum Impact (IYH: Canadian Stampede)- ditto, but this usually goes for about $20 or so.

IYH 2, IYH: Mind Games, IYH: Cold Day In ####, IYH:  It's Time, IYH: D-Generation X -  These are either unreleased on VHS in the US or are VERY rare (The latter two weren't released here and I'm unsure about the first three).  BTW, IYH 2 is NOT the same as IYH volume 2 on VHS.  IYH volume 2 is actually IYH 3.

Typically, original copies of these PPVs listed online are either for European TVs(PAL) or have been PAL-converted to NTSC so that they work on North American TVs.

For those who don't know, PAL-conversion to NTSC degrades the quality of the resulting video, and that is probably most evident on the recently released WWF: Rebellion, which sounds like the audio track came from a cassette recorder due to some problems.  On the DVD version of Rebellion, play the actual event then watch the bonus matches from RAW so you can see and hear the difference in quality.

Someone needs to get the mods to turn off the language filter.  I can't even write the name of a PPV without being censored.

Thanks for the info. I have dubs of all these tapes, except Wrestling Classic, but the only master I have is IYH 2.

Out of all the original PPV's, I agree with you, Survivor Series 87 is probably the best.

The Big Event is ok, the Steamboat/Jake match is probably the best on the card.

Almost all of the In Your Houses from 96 and 97 are hard to find.

And a lot of them are easy to miss cause they have stupid names, "Spring Explosion 96", "Slamathon 96"...they look like cheap Coliseum hits packages

Some of them aren't THAT hard to find if you know what to look for.  I picked up a partial set of IYH PPVs from 95 through 97 in the past month and most of them were fairly affordable.

IYH PPV to VHS translation list:

IYH 1 = In Your House

IYH 2 = unreleased?

IYH 3 = In Your House volume 2

IYH 4 = part of Winter Combat 96

IYH 5 = part of Winter Combat 96

IYH 6 = Spring Explosion 96

IYH 7 = Mega Matches 96: IYH Good Friends Better Enemies (VERY RARE)

IYH 8 = Wrestlefest 96

IYH 9 = Tour De Force 96

IYH 10 = ??? (It exists but I don't know the name)

IYH 11 = Slamathon 96

IYH 12 = unreleased?

IYH 13 = In Your House 97: Final Four

IYH 14 = Wrestlefest 97

IYH 15 = unreleased?

IYH 16 = Maximum Impact

IYH 17 = Ground Zero (MY copy is called Ground Zero, but it's a Canadian release.  The US release may have a different name)

IYH 18 = Rampage 97

IYH 19 = unreleased?

All the rest are released under their PPV names.

I've seen WWF home video (not Coliseum) copies of both Ground Zero and Badd Blood, both by their original names.

Here in Canada, WWF In Your House 2 was released under the Coliseum Video title "WWF Terminators". I've seen it being sold for over 50 dollars US on ebay.

Treble, that's the version I have, which is made by Koch International or someone like that.  They're STILL available online through retail, but they're recorded at SLP speed.

Deep Thought, are you SURE that's the right tape?  The box shows HBK vs. Yokozuna on the cover and I can't find a match list for the tape anywhere.

I have the Coliseum Video for the 1989 Royal Rumble.  How rare of a tape is that?

IYH #2 was sold through WWF magazine in late 1995 under the name WWF Lumberjacks: In Your House with HBK- Jarrett and Diesel- Sid on the cover.

I have the "WWF Terminators" tape. It includes all the matches from In Your House 2 (July 1995) along with two bonus matches not shown on the PPV: Bret Hart vs. Jean Pierre Lafette and Undertaker vs. Kama.

There were two Terminators tapes I believe, one came out in 1996 with HBK vs Yoko on it and other random matches

To the person who asked about Rumble 89, I've seen copies of it that are complete and in good condition go for over $50 (I don't remember how MUCH over $50, though, as I've seen some of the PPVs I listed going for $80+)

Wow, I feel like I caught a break all of a sudden. I bought the Survivor Series 87 Coliseum Video for $1 at a flea market a few years back.

Who would pay $80+ for a PPV?  I understand that it is rare, but, that seems crazy to me.

$80 is INSANE, IMHO.  My upper limit on PPV bidding is around $20 for an original, but that's because I think of it as a business AND a hobby. (I can make compilation tapes with the originals I buy, which helps me afford the prices I'm willing to pay)

$20 makes sense to me, since that is about how much you'd need to pay to order the PPV, but does anybody really need a show so bad to pay $80 for it?

I have the Ground Zero and Badd Blood PPVs that were WWF Home Video from Canada but I bought them at a store here in Mass.  Well I'm in RI but whatever.  They never carried One Night Only here so I had to get the 2 hr one off of Ebay.  I've never seen Rampage other than Ebay and I dunno if Ground Zero was on Coliseum.

I'm pretty sure that SummerSlam '97, Ground Zero, Badd Blood, and maybe Survivor Series '97 were on BOTH WWF Home Video (Canada) and Coliseum.

Ground Zero: The only version I've ever seen is the Koch International version from Canada and is recorded in SLP

Badd Blood: Available as BOTH Rampage '97 and IYH: Badd Blood, the latter by Koch International and recorded in SLP.

As for the other stuff, I'm pretty sure that Koch International has released their own versions of every PPV and WWF Home Video from Summerslam 97 on, with the exception of IYH: D-Generation X and Over the Edge 1999. (I personally have copies of their releases of 8 PPVs on VHS, from Ground Zero to No Mercy 2000, and about 4 of their DVDs including Judgment Day 2001 and Summerslam 2001.)

In fact, I have copies of Summerslam 1997 and Badd Blood on order from a Canadian e-tailer, although I doubt I'll see them any time soon.

Is there a site for this Canadian e-tailer?  I'd love Summerslam 97 especially if it kept the million dollar giveaway in it because of Todd Pettengill dialing a disconnected number which cracked me up everytime I saw the ppv copy my friend has.

The Canadian e-tailer I've ordered it from is Direct Video.  You should be able to find them using Yahoo.

I ordered Summerslam 97 and Badd Blood from them about a month ago, but have yet to receive anything, so don't count on getting those from Direct Video anytime soon.

As for Ground Zero, it is available through Playcentric.

Thanks, I already have Badd Blood and Ground Zero but I wanna get Summerslam.  Since it's taken you a while without anything, maybe I won't go through with it.  I'll check the site out though.

Just to go back a few posts, I own an PAL version of IYH 2, and it is just literally called 'In Your House 2', with Michaels / Jarrett and Diesel / Sid on the cover. No silly names for us English.

I count myself lucky for living in the UK as from the official UK WWF Video website (www.wwfvideo.co.uk) they have every original WWF PPV, EVER for just £14.99 (apart from Wrestling Classics and The Big Event)

Plus they have all the old collesium classics for like £6.99.
