Who are the next big stars?

Recommended Posts

Guest JMA

First off, this thread isn't about who you like. This thread is about who you THINK will be the next big stars. The main eventers of 2005. Why 2005? Just because. Who do you think will headline PPVs and hold the world title?

Hey, Let me go ahead and spare everyone of their time of the likely bullshit 3 pages of HHHATE and arguements about CWs being the future of the company and all that tired trite bullshit that TSM loves to display.

We do this topic along with Who should be fired every three weeks and it's always the same meandering bullshit.

To actually say who will main event in 2005 is absolute bullshit.

Who thought in 2000, that Brock Lesnar, a OVW boy would be Headlining Mania? Who thought in 1997, that Rocky and HHH, Mankind and WCW's Giant at WM2000? Who thought in 1996 Austin would main event? Who thought that in 1991, Bret Hart and HBK would main event in 1995?

It's all bullshit.

Look at 2001 to 2003. Nothing has happened in the main event scene except the Lesnar push. The way things are going now noone else will be a main eventer in 2005 unless ratings start going really bad.

Uh.

HHH

He'll have resorted to wrestling a clone of himself though.

Main Event of Wrestlemania XXI: HHH vs HHH2 for the WWSENWHF SuperHoss Title.

BAH GAWD its WHEN CLONED HOSSES COLLIDE!

It's all bullshit.

No, it isn't. It's a discussion. No one is actually saying with certainty who will main event. Just who THEY think will main event. There is nothing wrong with that. Geez, do I really have to explain this?

It's Bullshit because this thread pops up every other god damn week, clearly showing our lack of ability to create fresh topics to dicuss because this topic like some others always resort to the same trite bullshit.

again...It's all Bullshit.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I thought I was creating something fresh. And I still don't think it's bullshit.

If wrestling fans are lucky...talented, charismatic, dedicated ATHLETES. Hopefully they won't be sacrificed at the altar of Sports-Entertainment (whatever that is).

If not, whomever Vince decides is a big star and shoves down the audiences throats ala Helsmley in 1999.

If only we could get Vince to give that speech to his writing staff.

That's the problem. There are NO stars I see as future Austins or Hogans right now.

Fresh? We've done this topic to death...All it resorts to is HHHate and collective "WWE IS BOMBING and They have no direction" type rants that gets us nowhere too fast.

Cena is on fire, at first his rap angle was obnoxious at best.. but now he's molded into it.

Eddie can no longer be denied, Jericho as well.. their natural ability and talent are just anavoidable to the fans.

Team Angle might go beyond tag-team ranks if worked well, but as we all know thats a HUGE IF.

(oh, might I add that the Tag Belts on SD! are just fucking spectacularly elevated)

Christian.

Choken's full of it, as usual. NO ONE IS SAYING CRUISERWEIGHTS ARE THE FUTURE OF THE COMPANY, JACKASS!! Maybe guys a little heavier, and MAYBE Rey could be a top star sometime, but for most of the cruisers to be taken seriously they'd need to pack on some pounds.

Future of the company...let's see:

Matt Hardy: His skills need improvement, but he's not too short, and has the charisma to be a star one day.

John Cena: Mostly the same things I said about Matt.

RVD: He'll get his shot by then, trust me.

Brock Lesnar: Needs mic skills, of course.

Edge: By then he'll be the complete package after all of the time he's worked with awesome workers.

Angle, Benoit, and Eddy will still be around of course. Chavo may be holding the Intercontinental Title--which will return after the roster split is killed.

Taker, HHH, HBK, Austin should all be retired by then.

Kane, Test, Batista, Nathan Jones--all going-nowhere midcarders who get sporadic pushes.

Before 2005, Jericho--sadly, never gets another run with a major title again, but retires young, rich, and happy. Alas, HHH will retire with crippling injuries and a bitch of a wife.

HHH will not be around in 2005 even if he wanted to. He can't function much longer with his injuries. The only one making it into a topic about that is you.

Well, let's see what I think.

Rob Van Dam - I see him being the main attraction of the company. His character is SO differant from many others. The laid back stoner image will really click with teen fans, IMO. I see him getting in trouble with some parent TV watch group because of his past. But he'll shake them off and WWE will embarass them... badly. Just a prediction.

Eddie Guererro - Eddie will finally get a push to main event status. I see him in a series with RVD, as well as with Chavo.

Chavo Guererro - I see Eddie putting over Chavo big time.

Jay Reso - I see him dropping the whole Christian name, as well as being Edge's "brother." They will just be referenced as former best friends. He will still be cocky, but will give more promos.

Edge - Edge, on the other hand, will keep his name. I would give him a Sting-esque push to the top. Maybe a feud with the aged "Stunning" Steve Austin.

Steve Austin - Austin would be in a Flair-like role. The aged, cocky legendary champion. He would also bring the nickname "Stunning" and maybe wear a robe. The "Stone Cold" character was getting stale anyways. He would be great at putting guys over.

Matt Hardy - The cocky, self-centered heel. Basically his same character.

Kurt Angle - Less red, white, and blue outfits. I would bring back his red singlet with blue knee and elbow pads.

Shelton Benjamin - A feud with former partner Brock Lesnar. After a series of intense matches the feud will be snuffed as they reform the "Minnesota Wrecking Crew."

Brock Lesnar - See above. Will be a big player and elevate Benjamin as well. A feud with RVD will also be in order.

Charlie Haas - Sort of a Bret Hart type push. I see as being the clean wrestling, straight-shooting guy. A future World champion.

Shannon Moore - A feud with Matt Hardy.

Two names I have yet to see: Rhyno and Kanyon. Both men can work fairly well, both have charisma, both have been under-utilized up 'til now. I think, if they get a shot, they could both be viable contenders.

I want to say Rico and American Dragon because their Heat match looked so good to me.

Brock, Cena, Mattitude, Angle, Molly and Trish, Shelton 'Benjamins', Charlie Haas and Eddie Guerrero should be the main eventers by 2005, if the WWE wants to survive.

Then they can get Amazing Red, AJ Styles, Paul London, Lo-Ki and Trinity for the second tier, waiting for their chances.

Rock will be in $200 million flicks.

Benoit should become booker/trainer by then.

Rhyno I could see going far, but I wouldn't count on Kanyon main eventing Wrestlemania anytime soon.

I'd say probably Brock, Angle, HHH, RVD,Y2J,Edge,Rhyno,will be in the main event for sure. And Batista,Haas,Benjamin,Orton, Eddy, Cena, and Nowinski will be in the upper midcard.

Rhyno I could see going far, but I wouldn't count on Kanyon main eventing Wrestlemania anytime soon.

When Kanyon comes back he'll have his work cut out for him, since he'll be treated as a virtual unknown, plus he'll still need to be on house shows for a while longer to get re-adjusted to wrestling. He'll need to establish a new character since he's been gone since before the Alliance died, plus his catchphrase will need to be re-established or jettisoned.

And that's all before he can get over again.

So I could see him as a high midcarder by then, but not much more.

John Cena: The guy has sick talent on the mic and that can't be denied. He was basically handed a pretty ridiculous angle in the rapping thing given that he didn't need it to get over yet he is working it perfectly and even last week when he challenged Brock Lesnar, the crowd was ready to jump him which could visibly be seen rather WWE tweaked the crowd noise or not in the post production. Give it another year and he'll be on top, probably as a face.

Shelton Benjamim: The best pure athlete possibly ever to enter WWE, this guy can run the 40 in time that rivals the fastest men on the planet. He was all American in track and wrestling up in Minnesota and that's the kind of athlete fans seem to be getting behind these days. Along with Charlie Hass, Shelton is amazing in the ring for a guy so new to the main roster and I can see both men with the same kind of breakout potential that Kurt Angle brought to the company two years ago.

Brock Lesnar: Brock is the most over babyface in all of the WWE right now aside from Hogan and he's actually not drawing half bad either. If WWE continues to use him right I see nowhere for him to go but up.

Randy Orton: A natural in the ring and on the mic, as soon as he gets out of HHH's shadow it should be all uphill for him.

Christian: If WWE ever seriously got behind him Christian has EVERYTHING that it takes to be a main event player. His mic skills are unique and polished, he has "the look" (aside form his size) and is good in the ring.

Maven: It's hard to believe how over Maven was on the Smackdown brand and how much the vacuum of RAw's suckiness has killed him. People LOVE Maven and he's one hell of a quick learner, I see big things for him.

Others: Chris Nowinski, Batista, Matt Hardy, Billy Kidman if they ever use him right.
