Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Did anyone else catch this? I thought it was great, especially when the host interviewed the actual characters. I think any and every Simpsons fan should see this at least once. For those who didn't catch it but are curious, here are the replay dates: Sat, Feb 15 1:00 AM Sun, Feb 16 11:00 AM Sat, Feb 22 7:00 PM Sun, Feb 23 5:00 AM
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Uh, could you be any less specific? As in what the show is about, and more importantly, what channel its on. Thanks a bunch!
Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Sorry. Thought most people would know. It airs on Bravo. The host, James Lipton, interviews the people who voice the Simpsons and also interviews them in character.
Guest red_file Report post Posted February 10, 2003 It was interesting, but I would've really liked to have had more time devoted to each actor instead of having the rather scattershot approach that they had. Certainly some of the actors were more interesting than others, but on the whole it seemed like nothing was really discussed because there were so many people on stage and Lipton was more interested in interviewing the characters than the actors. Still, it was nice to see that Lipton can have a sense of humor about his show.
Guest Mole Report post Posted February 10, 2003 It was on Bravo. And yes, this show was great.

I noticed that too. Given that there were 6 people onstage, I think a case could have been made for this to have been a multi-part interview or perhaps a 2-hour special. I enjoyed it all the same however.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Does anybody know why the Marge chick suddenly vanished? Lipton has always had a great sense of humor about the show. It's always funny when somebody from SNL comes on and he brings up the Actor's Studio parodies. I thought for sure he would've hated those but he seems to like them. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 10, 2003 James Lipton should be a special guest commentator on Iron Chef. Can you imagine the superlatives he would bust out when tasting those delicacies? "This Sea Urchin Roe is like the dainty brush of the savior's hand, tickling my taste buds until the lord himself says 'Yes, you may stop savoring the perfection and swallow.'" Will Ferrell's bit when he was describing A Troll in Central Park killed me dead. ATICP is like the lord looking upon you and saying, YOU are my most favored creation. Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 10, 2003 It looked to me like it was heavily edited. I'm betting they did three to four hours and had to edit it down to the bare bones. It was one of the most hackneyed looking episodes of Inside the Actor's Studio I had ever seen. With any luck they'll include the entire interview on a future Simpsons DVD. I was wondering what happened to Kavner too.

Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I was wondering what happened to Kavner too. Maybe she's extremely shy when it comes to doing her character voices? Just a thought really, although it doesn't seem too feasible since she sounds like Marge when she isn't even trying to.

I was wondering what happened to Kavner too. The Actors Studio interviews are always around 3-4 hours in total and then edited down to an hour, not just this one. The jumpy editing bothers me every week. I'm sure the amount of people caused it to be worse on this one.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 10, 2003 damn...I meant to catch this episode. I'll have to catch one of the replays.
Guest notJames Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I felt bad for Yeardley Smith. All the others got huge laughs when getting into their character voices (especially Dan Castanaletta), but because Yeardley talks exactly like Lisa, it wasn't so great a moment. I think Lipton went overboard interviewing so many of the characters, like Nelson, Skinner, Patty/Selma, etc. The novelty kinda wore off after each actor got a turn. All in all, though, a great episode. Most likely it'll end up on one of the DVDs. Hopefully unedited.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Not that my short term memory is spent or anything, but can we all try to remind each other of this closer to the replay time and day? Maybe a little bump or two to get it raised to the top? I'll try to remember to do it for you all, if you all try to help me.
