OK, to kick off the new Fast Food folder,

Yes, we all remember those huge marketing campaigns for the McD.L.T. and the Arch Deluxe (for the refined McDonald's customer). But how were the sandwiches themselves?

Guest JAMES900

They were pretty average really just like anything else on mcdonalds' menu.

This may sound stupid, but didn't McDonalds have a "Superhero" sandwich in 1995 to help promote the "Batman Forever" movie? I thought those were good.

The arch deluxe was a whole series of "adult oriented" burgers, right?

Yeah, the Arch Deluxe was a burger with some kind of dijon-mustardy kind of sauce that was meant to lure sophisticated adults to McDonalds. I thought the burger was OK, but nothing really special.

McDLT was alright, but Arch Deluxe was crap.

Yep, there was a Superhero Burger in 1995. I don't remember it, but some people think it was the best burger McD's made:

from alt.mcdonalds:

There was the "superhero" burger....3 patties, two kinds of cheese,

lettuce, tomato, onion, and I think mayo....not sure what else...

Yeah, and considering it's the birth place of pizza. Pizza rules!

I figured I wasn't dreaming about the "Superhero" burger. One of the best burgers I even ate.

Pizza is SO over rated. Pasta is the Real Deal.

the REAL pizza is not the same we get today and you get in the US. the REAL pizza was just pasta with tomatoe on it and some oil originated in Naples.

some good Italian ishes...

Carbonara (pasta, eggs, bacon)

Lasagne alla Bolognese (pasta, meat, tomatoe, salted cream)

Cotoletta alla Milanese (fried meat with eggs)

you know what? it's 2 motnhs I work at MC and it's 2 fucking motnhs I eat the mcbacon :(

Well, it has got nothing to do with McDonalds, but the worst experimental new food that I have ever had would be the Bulls Eye pizza from Pizza Hut.  It was just like a normal pizza, except instead of pizza sauce, there was Bulls Eye barbeque sauce.  It was seriously the most disgusting thing that I have ever had, and I don't think it lasted but a couple months at Pizza Hut.

From what I remember there was that, a grilled chicken sandwich, a spicy checken sandwich and (I think) some kind of fish sandwich. The grilled chicken sandwich was great, but it never filled me up.

Worst - The burger from BK that has the Onion Rings on it.

If they were real onion rings and not that onion flavored crap thats deep fried, it would be a different story.

Best - Im a sucker for the cajun mcchicken at McDonalds even though I eat there every once in a blue moon.

In fact, I hardly eat fast food at all any more. I prefer to grill my own 1/4 lb burgers and do everything myself, including the rolls.  Yep..

where talking about experimental burgers that suck, and no one said the chicken parmesan, like i said on the old board, anyone who knows italian food would be personally offended by this

as for "innovative" i think the big mac made burgers for the "hefty gentleman" so they dsont have to order 2-4 burgers

btw remember the arch deluxe commercial when ron mcd is playing golf

I actually quit my job at McDonald's on Monday, after a tenure that lasted about sixteen months and had seen me promoted recently.  It still fucking sucked and I'm glad to be rid of it.  The chicken parmesan sandwich is a complete joke.  We just take the Crispy chicken--already on the menu--and dunk it in a tray of nasty-ass tomato sauce, for which there is no time limit in which it's considered fresh.  Add two pieces of mozzerela cheese, or some facsimile thereof, and you have the Chicken Paremesan sandwich.  Not the worst promotional sandwich they've added recently--there was some Sloppy Joe type shit that made me retch--but nothing to write home about.

To go back a few topics, REAL Italian food can be good sometimes, but can be incredibly frightening at others.  I lived in Naples for a year, and had countless experiences in which I had no clue what I was ordering and basically just closed my eyes and pointed at something on the menu.  Order something with shrimp and they'll actually bring out a plate of pasta topped with one gigantic shrimp.  One thing I loved, though, was lemon cello (I know that's got to be wrong).  After your meal, they'll bring out these tiny glasses of chilled lemon alcohol that are absolutely fucking fantastic.  As far as I can tell, it's just lemon, sugar, and alcohol.  Great.  I have no clue where to find it in the states, though.

Fun fact:  Pizza was first made in Brooklyn, not Italy.

I did not know that.

I didn't know pizza was first made in Brooklyn either. Interesting fact.

I think Hardyz1 is getting his facts from Joey Numbers down at the port authority.  I've never heard that before.  It actually contradicts everything I've ever been told about the origin of pizza.  My head is spinning like a top.

The McLean was actually pretty good.  Not as greasy as all the other shit.

I've never seen the McToast, but then again when I get McDonald's breakfast food, I usually stick to their hotcakes w/sausage and a hash brown. What do you guys do to the McToast that it's so gross?

Guest theWCWRaider

I've heard that Pizza was actually first made in America before, but I hadn't heard that it was Brooklyn.

and who ever said the McRib, hell yes! That should be a full time sandwich.

Anybody remember when BurgerKing came out with mini hamburgers that came in sets of 3's? It came out when I was a kid as I was impressed with my own ability to down three burgers in a single sitting.

Anyone remember "The Grand Poobah" sandwich they had with the Flintstones movie? It ruled the school.
