Guest HungryJack Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Being that I'm Canadian , i only pay slightly more than 5K a year after books, and since I've held a 30-hour a week job since I was 14, I was able to save up enough to pay for 3 full years, in addition to a 2500 dollar bursary I got from from my church. I should be in good hands for the rest of my 6 to 8 year trip.

Especially since I'm getting a worthless diploma to go into an already overcrowded field where only the top 2% ever succeed, and only the top .005% make over six digits a year. OMG~! You're an art major too? Fuck no. Communications, broadcast journalism. Gonna go work in Bumfuck Wisconsin, market #312 in the nation, make 15K a year out of college while others make 70K. Yippie Ki Yay.
Guest Brian Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 I have a friend who ddi the broadcast journalism bit. The secret to any low paying job is making money on the side. Same with college. You buy a bunch of tickets to big games, and you scalp them. Broadcast journalism is a fun field. Especially for sports. Don't know about everything else, but you can get lots of freebies doing sports. That would be more side pocket money.

The best thing for me is to have as broad a spectrum of talent as possible. As much as I'd love to be on SportsCenter, it'd be just as wise of me to prep for replacing Lou Dobbs on Moneyline first.

Bob, not to be mean, but I've seen your pic -- you're not getting on TV. And the trick to getting a job in this field is A) to be a chick, and B) to suck up to your profs. with connections that can get you work in the real world. Sadly, I have done neither...
