Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted February 11, 2003 bin Laden Issues Message of Support for Iraq Does anyone believe this story? Right when Bush is looking for support against Iraq, "bin Laden" issues a statement in support of their regime. Riiiiiiight...
Guest JMA Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Sounds like BS to me. Despite what the media tells you, Osama and Sadaam DO NOT like or even respect each other. I don't think it is a stretch to say that they HATE each other. Most dictators are not friends.

Guest BiOHaZaRD EX Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Well, this could be real. Al Jazeera TV said they will be airing the tape later tonight...I watched that on the Fox News Alert earlier today.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2003 So, any word on how Powell knew of a tape being sent to Al Jazzera before Al Jazzera knew about it? I guess the US government needs a better service to deliver tapes.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Sounds like BS to me. Despite what the media tells you, Osama and Sadaam DO NOT like or even respect each other. I don't think it is a stretch to say that they HATE each other. Most dictators are not friends. That doesn't mean they wouldn't work together, against the U.S. and Isreal. You don't always have to like, or even respect your allies.
Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted February 11, 2003 If he was supporting Iraq, he would stay out of it. This is only making more people support the US's cause, "affirming" the suspicion of Iraq's ties with terrorism. That's why I think this tape is BS.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2003 source: http://www.austin360.com/aas/news/ap/ap_st...Laden-Tape.html "The speaker on the tape said nothing about direct ties between al-Qaida and the Iraqi government--saying his followers only share a common interest with Iraq, even though he denounced Saddam's secular, socialist al-Baath party as ``infidels.''" Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Heh, I thought he was attacking the US for being infidels. IRONY. OR FABRICATION.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2003 I'm sure that Osama loves Aziz (who is the Iraqi head of something and a Christian) Osama doesn't need to distance himself from Saddam, Saddam needs to distance himself from Osama, the gun barrel is on Saddam, not Osama
Guest JMA Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Too bad we just can't get them to destroy each other.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted February 12, 2003 You'd think it would be a stupid move on bot their parts to come out purposely and say they were linked and supported each other. They are not the same evil though, that is for sure.
Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted February 12, 2003 This is great. Proves that Bin Laden's dead for me. Just too convenient otherwise.
Guest JMA Report post Posted February 12, 2003 I think Osama is just crazy enough to have his suicide bombers attack Iraq (killing innocent citizens).
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Sounds like BS to me. Despite what the media tells you, Osama and Sadaam DO NOT like or even respect each other. I don't think it is a stretch to say that they HATE each other. Most dictators are not friends. Problem is Osama is not a dictator. He is the leader of a terrorist organization. Other than that, who knows for sure. While bin Laden and Hussein don't necessarily see eye to eye, they do have a common foe in the U.S. bin Laden could be playing us with our whole "Saddam and al Queda are linked" crusade. Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Osama is a leech. He is leeching off the sympathy for the Palestineans and Iraqis in the Arab World to help his terrorist organization. His jihad started when the Saudis didn't want Osama to defend their country against Iraq and they brought in the US. Osama had to make up BS to get followers in his mission. Osama's mission is simple. HE wants to rule Saudi Arabia and he wants to turn it into an Arab Republic. Al Qaeda works to serve Osama bin Laden's interests. Osama could care less if Saddam's government is toppled because Osama never liked Saddam much. Osama knows that if he plays his cards right, he could try to put in a more extreme ruler in Iraq. Osama is probably alive. If he died, then Al Qaeda would bring it up and use it to make him a martyr (probably by lying, like how the Nazis claimed that Hitler died in battle). Osama has to be hiding out in Northwest Pakistan. You know why he stopped sending out video tapes? because when he was sending tapes from Afghanistan, people were analyzing the rock formations and scenary to figure out where he is and he can't risk giving up his location right now. Al Qaeda's fighters aren't dying for Allah, they're dying for Osama bin Laden and there is no virgins allotted for dying for a mere lanky mortal
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Right now it would be to Bin Ladin's benefit to say they are linked whether it is true or not. That way we go and get occupied in Iraq and Al Qaeda plans the next attack. The problem is our president made it a personal mission to wipe out Al Qaeda/Taliban and he didn't finish that job, just like we didn't finish the job against Iraq a decade ago. So I am sure a decade from now we will be re-visiting Afgan/Pakistan ALL OVER AGAIN. It is pretty accurate to say Bush has wanted at Iraq since day one of being in office. Sept. 11th only helped matters because now Bush sounds credible to a lot of people by labeling anyone from the middle east as a terrorist threat to the USA. People are getting over Sept. 11th but still seemed to be scared shitless about another terrorist attack. Problem is, it has never come from Iraq, it has always been rogue groups like Taliban/Al Qaeda. See, IRAQ as a nation led by Saddam would be stupid to attack us because then we can just go obliterate their country end of story, however with terrorist groups and organizations it adds a new twist because they are spread out all over the world and are not necessarily associated with a certain country or person, even though links/ties may be there. We should have just stuck to the original task at hand, because it seems it was more difficult than originally anticipated. Plus the fact that the only time you hear Bush and Co. mention Al Qaeda is to link them to Iraq. Well guess what, Al Qaeda is still there, so why are we not worrying about them FIRST? Guest Some Guy Report post Posted February 13, 2003 We're still killing al Qaeda memebers in Afghanistan and else where. the main war is over, we decimated the Taliban and the ones who lived ran. Now it's the tedious task of tracking them down and killing them. That's not front page news.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I was disappointed. I thought the way the US government was spinning the new tape, Osama was sharing a hashish bag with Sadaam.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Since the other thread about this seems to have died in favor of this one, I'll reproduce my reply from there: Usama bin Laden and Iraq are absolutely linked. We've known this for years. Saddam has given bin Laden money on several occasions, and Israeli intelligence is of the informed opinion that Iraq bankrolled the bulk of the September 11th operation. Believe me, the intelligence community takes the links between Iraq and bin Laden VERY seriously.

Guest JMA Report post Posted February 13, 2003 The enemy of my enemy is my friend... A very good philosophy to live by. I use it myself. But I still don't buy Osama and Sadaam would work together. Even if he did give money to radical groups, this war is still a personal thing for Bush.
