The annoying thing about the rock vs hogan buildup

Only on radio ads have I heard these facts:

 

1) Hogan is 7-1-1 in Wrestlemania history

 

2) The Rock hasn't won cleanly since his first, leaving him with a 1-4 record

 

3) This is going back to the site of Hogan's ONLY singles lost in Wrestlemania history

 

THIS is the stuff that they should be hyping more rather than "Rock getting revenge for being put on the shelf" I mean they should have a "Tale of The Tape" on the TV ads of each's history (titles, big wins, ect) I mean granted they aren't going to try to make a heel look GOOD, but still, that would add some better buildup than its getting now

Yeah but modern fans don't really care about win loss as most know it's all a work.

and as the writers have shown, they don't have an ounce of creativity in their bodies. Well, maybe Heyman but I don't think he has too much clout right now.

Rock won at WMXIV by reverse decision so his record is 2-3.

Well, the 2nd statement you mentioned (Rock is 2-4 at WM) throws that logic out the window.

 

They are already hyping this match as the Best of Today against the Best of Yesterday.  We don't need to tell the marks out there that Rocky has a 33% winning percentage.  With that logic, since Austin beat Rock twice at WM, he is the best of today.  Can't do that.  I also believe they know Hogan used to win a lot.

 

It's hard for me to defend the bookers, but they were booked in a corner here.  If Rocky didn't have to leave for 3 weeks, they wouldn't have to think up the stupidity of the ambulance incident.  They wanted to push this just as a match with the greatest, which I believe is what they intended, by not having Rock play the effects of the ambulance incident.

 

Now, if Hogan would just go away after WM, this will all play out nicely.

i agree that hogan needs to disappear but even if Rock would have been around for those weeks, the writing team would have thought of some stupid angle for Rock to hurt his ribs. You gotta remember, Hogan needs an excuse to put on a 5 minute bearhug. If it happens during the match, don't be surprised.

Hogan is 7-2-1.  Wins in 1-3, double dq in 4, win in 5, loss in 6, wins in 7-8, tag title loss in 9, wwf title win in 9.  (And, if we wanted to be anal, we couold give him another tie in WMXII for the Huckster match.)

Actually they are billing it as the best of yesterday vs. the best of tomorrow...which has been the only way I have been able to stomach it.

which is why I don't see how itwould benefit the company or Rock's future to put over a used-up dinosaur who shouldn't be allowed to set foot in the ring.

 

During the match, look for it: the 5 minute bearhug!!!!
