Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Entertainment Weekly compiled their top 25 Simpson episodes... and the worse one ever. Please read it and then post what episodes they left out and what you think the worse one is for all of you Simpsons' fans out there. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Sideshow Bob Roberts got robbed. And the worst by far (nothing else is even close) is the N'Sync episode. I liked Bart to the Future.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Overall not a bad list. I was pleasantly surprised to see Cape Feare at number 3, as it's my favorite episode, but I know a lot of people who hate it. It's hard to think of any they missed, as all my top tier episodes were there, and pretty much anything from seasons 3 through 8 could justifiably be on that list. For worst episode, personally I'd go with the first one (the first one made anyway), the Babysitter Bandit one. They just hadn't worked out the formula yet. Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Man, the "Behind the Laughter" episode was hilarious and I'm a little disappointed to see that it didn't make the list. The way they parodied VH1's Behind The Music series was genius from beginning to end, especially the way they went overboard with the metaphoric phrases. "Fate wore a cumberbund that night...of supsense."
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Homer at the Bat should be higher, IMO, and I was a little upset that Bart on the Road wasn't on there at all. I like that one.

EPISODE. EVER.- Bart to the Future I would have Monorail at #1, Homer At The Bat at #2, and Flaming Moes at #3. I STRONGLY disagree with their WORST. EPISODE. EVER. I like Bart to the Future. If anything, I'd have that piece of crap "How I Spent My Strummer Vacation" as W.E.E.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Yeah, to me, the only part of How I Spent My Strummer Vacation that I liked was the Elvis Costello line that they mentioned.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I know I'm probably in the small minority here, but frankly....I don't like the Sideshow Bob episodes. Really. I often find them to be tedious. This list is pretty good, though. They put quite some thought into itl
Guest Space_Cowboy Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I would have liked to see both the 'Behind the Laughter' and 'Bart on the Road' episodes on the list, but other than that i think it looks pretty good, though i'm not sure about the worst episode ever choice. Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Where's the Cat Burgular episode? That rules it. "On one of my frequent trips to the ground, I noticed Malloy wore sneakers. FOR SNEAKING" "And finally, unlike most senior citizens, Malloy has the world's largest cubic zirconia on his coffee table. " "So I said look pal, your car was upside-down when we got here, and as for you Grandma, she shouldn't have mouthed off like that!" "You better have a damn good reason for doing that, boy." "It makes me feel like a big man." "Better check my reason list...yup, it's on there." "Hey! You're that drunken posse! Can I join ya?" "I dunno. Can you swing a sack of doorknobs?" "CAN I?" "Here's the sack. But you gotta supply your own knobs." "No no, no, dig UP, stupid." "It seems the cat has been caught, by the very person who was TRYING to catch him." "How ironic." My personal favourite. Worst? Oh God...like, the whole current season is ass. It's like they're trying to take Family Guy's formula (Just shove random nonsensical bits into the middle of the episodes) and apply it to the Simpsons. The problem is, they're not as good at it, and since Simpsons was never really like that before, it just comes off as fucking weird, and not really funny... Guest teke184 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Holy shit... they actually picked GOOD episodes for the top five. Those are definately ones that I'd put in there. In fact, Homer's Phobia and Last Exit To Springfield are my personal favorite episodes. Of the top 10, the only one I'll disagree with is Itchy And Scratchy Land. It should have been replaced with Treehouse 1, 2, or 4. City of New York vs. Homer Simpsons is the only overrated one in 11-15, as it is an above average episode but not top 25 material. It starts to lose it at 16-20, as Flaming Moe's and Radio Bart are two of my least favorite episodes from the classic third season. The Spinoff Showcase IS a nice touch, however, but that's mainly due to Chief Wiggum: PI. It's REALLY lost it by #21, as Life On The Fast Lane and Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie are some of the worst episodes ever, and the ending of Who Shot Mr Burns? part 2 just kills all of the great stuff in both episodes of it. As for the worst episode ever, Bart to the Future? Please... that was one of the better episodes that season. Bart's Dog Gets an "F", Miracle on Evergreen Terrace, and Principal and the Pauper are all far worse.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Marge vs The Monorail is my all time favorite. Krusty's Clown College is underrated. "Let me get this straight...you bet 10,000 dollars on the Generals. "I thought the Generals were do".
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I will throw in some of my personal faves: I love the one with Sherry Bobbins, which I feel has wall to wall laughs and Tarantino gets his head lopped off by Itchy and has one of the most gruesome deaths ever in the series. One that totally catches you off guard. I like the episode with Frank Grimes, Homer's enemy. I also like the one with Hank Scorpio as well. All three I felt would have made good choices to the list as well. I was happy "Last Exit to Springfield" being chosen as number one, a good choice, IMO. Over all, the whole list is good, I have no problems with the choices that were made. Interesting fact, I think the top four all come from Season Four. I can't wait next year for that DVD set. Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted February 13, 2003 The Stonecutters episode got robbed. It wasn't a terrible list but Itchy, Scratchy & Poochie is one of the worst Simpsons episodes ever.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Yeah, Stonecutters, Krusty's Klown Kollege, and Hank Scorpio should have been up there.
Guest JangoFett4Hire Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Some faves From the first or second season, when Homer pawns the TV so that he can afford to pay for group shock therapy. The TV spot for Dr Marvin Monroe's practice is a classic. And the one where Marge and the neighbor go on the lam. Classic Wiggum line: It must be one of them ghost cars! Hold me! Guest notJames Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Bart of Darkness should have made the Top 25, solely for one word: "Milpool" And one of my favourite exchanges: Amish: 'Tis a fine barn, but sure 'tis no pool, English. Homer: D'oh-eth! But I definitely agree with their #1 choice. Solid, if only for this: "Lisa needs braces!" "Dental plan!"
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I think Last Exit to Springfield is a great choice for number one. It's a good prototypical episode. There's nothing extra great or big about it, but you can point to it and show what the Simpsons are all about. Cape Feare is my favorite episode because of all the classical individual bits. I think Marge vs. the Monorail is the most important episode of the series as it's the defined point where the show went from being a more realistic social satire to being more surreal and pop culture driven. Itchy Scratchy and Poochie is disliked by a lot of fans for the same reasons people hate the last episode of Seinfeld. It really points out what's wrong or dark or just a flaw in your favorite t.v. show. People don't want to admit that the Simpsons could become stale and even more so would resort to the type of base stunts like new characters and such to try and revitalize it. Bart to the Future is a pretty bad episode primarily because it reuses the entire concept from the episode with Lisa's dream. I've said it on the boards before, but the worst episode is the grifting one. It contains examples of everything that's wrong with the Simpsons today: a useless guest star, obscure references which exist soley for being obscure, a nonsensical plot and a cop out ending that flaunts the fact that it's a cop out ending and there's nothing you can do about it. One of my personal favorites that hasn't been mentioned yet is the episode where Grandpa's kidneys explode. It includes my two all time favorite Simpsons lines: "... and when Mr. Dinkley saw what I had done, I was banned from the car wash forever!" and " Dr. Hibbert, I thought you'd located another kidney for Grampa!" "Larry Hagman took it. He's got five of them now! And three hearts! We didn't want to give them to him but he overpowered us."
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Grimey would have to be my favorite episode ever. I wish this was pushed back a few weeks so Marge the Bodybuilder could have been the worst episode. (The mag had probably gone to press already) But honestly who wants to see Marge doing steroids and basically raping Homer and playing the Incredible Hulk at the end. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 13, 2003 The Homer Thompson scene in Cape Feare is one of the funniest of all time.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted February 13, 2003 The John Waters eps. has no right being anywhere near the top 25. It completely effemized bart (which is still shown today), was way too preachy, gave Homer a hateful irrationality, and mocked the simpsons Nuclear Familyness. The show never recovered. Ditto with the Frank Grimes eps and the Hullapalooza one. No deep space homer? No Homer the heretic? No Homer goes to college? This list is a sham.
Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted February 14, 2003 Props to the list-makers for emphasising the genius of the rake scene in Cape Feare. Ones I would have had up there would have been Homer in Space, the Catburglar episode and of course Hank Scorpio. Still, when trying to narrow it down you do realise that the Simpsons stands as not just a great TV show, but a crowning achievement in American culture. I just fucking love the Simpsons. The only episode I don't like is Lisa the Vegetarian, which simply allows Lisa to morally get away with being a complete little shit.
Guest MD2020 Report post Posted February 14, 2003 Marge vs The Monorail is my all time favorite. Krusty's Clown College is underrated. "Let me get this straight...you bet 10,000 dollars on the Generals. "I thought the Generals were do". And of course: "Take the ball!! He's just spinning it on his finger!!! Guest notJames Report post Posted February 14, 2003 am i the only one who shares the love for '22 short films about springfield'? No, you are not. Any Pulp Fiction fan should have huzzahed out loud. I too can't believe they left off Bart on the Road, Homer the Great, and the oh-so quotable King-Size Homer, "And remember, if you're not sure about something, rub it against a piece of paper. If the paper turns clear, it's your window to weight gain." "Push out the jive... bring in the love..." "And I think it's ironic that for once Dad's BUTT prevented the release of toxic gas..." TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2003 MY favs. are "Homer's Enemy" featuring the great Frank Grimes and "Cape Feare" with Sideshow Bob, such a brilliant parody of Cape Fear. I love all the Sideshow Bob episodes but one which is very underrated is "Brother From Another Series" featuring Sideshow Cecil. It's such a masterful parody of Frasier, best thing is it's admitting it's parodying Frasier("Frasier is a hit show on NBC"), and the laughs are great.
