Soda spill on lobby floor of FBI causes commotion

A disoriented man caused a stir Tuesday when he entered FBI headquarters in Oklahoma City and spilled a soft drink on the floor of the lobby.

By the time the situation was sorted out, the FBI office was awash in reporters, camera crews, firefighters and even a hazardous materials crew.

"The guy came in to furnish some information," Special Agent Jay Moeller said. "He wasn't all there. He had some sort of head trauma or something."

Realizing the man was in crisis, the FBI contacted his family and called for an ambulance to take him to Mercy Health Center.

Right about then, he spilled his soft drink on the lobby floor. Somehow the spilled drink turned into a report that the man was spraying a mysterious powder around the room -- something, Moeller said, that never happened.

"He dropped his Coke on the floor of the atrium where you come in," Moeller said. "HAZ-MAT, the fire department and an ambulance showed up for a spilled Coke."

I remember listening to a Jello Biafra spoken word CD once, and he told a story of this mysterious barrell of white powder that seemingly fell off a truck and cracked open on the Bay bridge in San Francisco. The Barrell wasn't marked, so officials feared the worst. They called in a Hazmat team to spend all day, a work day, cleaning it up. Thousands of people were very late for work that day.

Anyway, they took the stuff, analyzed it, and reported on the news that night that the stuff had turned out to be FLOUR.

It's still pretty much the exact same situation as the spilled coke.

I can't believe no one SAW him spill the soda. Great powers of observation there from the FBI. No one sees a guy with a "head trauma" spill a soda, despite the fact that someone like that is bound to attract attention, so rumors spread that he was spreading some chemical. Tremendous.

Funny how they can't go, you know, to the security cameras maybe and be like "Oh, so that's soda. Okay, I guess we don't need to call everyone to make sure we aren't gunna die."

I don't think security cameras can identify one liquid more clearly than the other, but the fact that it's a fizzy liquid most likely with ice cubes in it should be evidence enough.

I mean, cmon.. A mysterious powder?

The FBI probably had outdated information, and believed that the Coke had, you know, real coke. So they thought they were all breathing into that 'mysterious powder'.

:hm:
