Wrestlemania X-7

 

Since this was less then a year ago I’m not doing storylines.

 

Live from Houston, TX. Your hosts are JR and Paul Heyman. We get a Wrestlemania little package. JR and Paul are pumped.

 

Chris Jericho v. “Commissioner” William Regal for the Intercontinental Title

 

Regal kicks his ass to start- Y2J gets high impact offence to come back- Regal bails. Y2J flies out after him and they brawl on the outside. Elbow off the top-2. A reversal sequence leads to Regal blocking Walls. Blind charge by Regal misses but he comes back and works him over. Y2J eats steel ring post twice and Regal waves. Regal works on the shoulder. Armringer takedown-2. More shoulder working. Y2J fights out of wristlock and chops him but misses Lionsault. Rollup by Regal-2. Regal flips him over and gets two. He exposes the steel pole and rams Y2J’s shoulder into bolt. Y2J comes back with kicks. Missile dropkick-2. Blind charge by Y2J misses and Regal gets a double underhook suplex from the top rope. He’s slow to cover and only gets two. Y2J goes for Walls but his shoulder gives out and Regal gets Regal Stretch. Y2J makes ropes and chops away- Regal kicks him. Y2J comes back and hits the bulldog and gets suplex. Lionsault wins it. Y2J fucked up his ankle and it was way too short. **3/4

 

Shane O’ Mac is here. The APA are in the back w/ Jackie and Bradshaw cuts an amazing promo.

 

RTC (w/Steven Richards) v. APA and Tazz (w/Jackie)

 

Tazz cuts Steven’s promo off. Huge brawl to start- Jackie DDTs Richards. Faarooq and Bull start. Powerslam by Fararooq-2. Tag Tazz. Tazz gets his ass kicked and plays face in peril. Val Venis tags in. Side Russian legsweep-2. Tag Goodfather who works him over. Suplex-2. Ho Train but he misses splash. Hot tag Bradshaw who cleans house. Razor Slam to Venis and it’s a pier-6 brawl. Superbacksuplex to Val but RTC powerbomb Bradshaw. Ho Train misses, Clothesline from #### doesn’t. Didn’t suck! *1/2

Raven v. Kane v. The Big Show- WWF Hardcore Title

 

Raven attacks Kane who kills him. Big Show gets no reaction. Kane presses Raven onto Big Show. Kane flies out after Big Show and it gets two. Raven gets killed more. They brawl to the crowd and to the back. Raven hits Kane with a street sign an gets tossed into a wall. Show slams Kane on a wooden pallet. Show and Raven go into some room but Kane breaks the lock and hits Show with a broom. Raven chokes Kane out but gets his ass kicked more and chokes out. Raven gets tossed through a glass window. Big Show and Kane double choke each other and fall through the door. Raven hits them with a table. Raven and Big Show ride on a golf card which crashes and Kane and the ref follow. They run over Raven and brawl more. Kane gets hit with foam peanuts and Big Show kills him more. Kane joins in as they brawl up towards the entranceway. Kane and Show brawl at the stage. Show presses Raven but Kane kicks them and they fall off the stage and Kane legdrops them both for the win and the title. Way too long and too much backstage stuff. *1/2

 

Kurt Angle watches himself v. Benoit- Edge and Christian show up. Angle claims he still hasn’t tapped out. E-n-C agree. At WWFNY Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka does the Superfly signal. Coach talks to a fan who came from Brisbane, Australia. The Rock is here.

 

Test v. Eddy Guerrero (w/Saturn)- WWF European Title

 

Slugfest- Test wins and kicks his ass. Powebomb-2. Brawl on the outside- Test kicks his ass. Back in- Eddy comes back and hammers away. Test presses Eddy into turnbuckle and clotheslines him-2.  Test works him over and blocks top rope hurricarana. He flies off the top-2. Test hammers away and flies at a ducking Eddy who gets caught and tangled in the ropes. He gets really badly stuck and even Eddy has to help. Eddy kicks his ass and works on the leg. Eddy hammers away and gets a sleeper. Test gets tilt-a-whirl slam but can’t capitalise. Tilt-a-whirl powerbomb by Test gets two. Blind charge by Test misses and Eddy gets a lowblow. Saturn runs in and gets the moss covered three handled family gredunza for two. Brainbuster by Eddy but he miss from top. Big boot by Test and he gets pumphandle powerslam and he knocks Saturn off and covers for two. Big boot for Saturn, Big Boot for Eddy but Dean interferes and gets beat up. Saturn tosses Euro title to Eddy who knocks Test out for title. Leave it to Eddy to carry Test to a good match. ***

 

Michael Cole is with Mick Foley. He’ll be a fair official despite the fact that Vince has treated him like shit. Stone Cold is here.

 

Kurt Angle v. Chris Benoit

 

“I saw your flag- and its missing 49 other states”- Angle. They lock up and mat wrestle with neither gaining the advantage. The crowd approves. They try again with neither gaining the advantage. Crowd applauds more. They go at it again on the mat while Paul runs down Benoit’s background. Both roll into the ropes and the crowd gives them a standing ‘O’. They try it again and Benoit almost gets crossface. More matwork and Angle blocks crossface by making ropes. Angle bails. Back in- Angle takes him down and Benoit gets the crossface again. Angle levels him ending the mat wrestling. He chucks Benoit out and they brawl on the outside. Benoit goes into the steps. Back in- Angle works him over. Suplex-2.Suplex-2. “He can wrestle, he can brawl, Kurt Angle can do it all.”- Paul. Angle hammers away. Benoit comes back with chops but Angle does belly to belly suplex. Another one but Benoit gets a clothesline. Angle hammers away and they have a chop-punch war. Benoit knees his abdomen. Slugfest- Benoit wins. Reverse elbow-2. Suplex-2. Superplex-2. 3 Germans by Benoit, Angle reverses and goes for anklelock but Benoit counters with one of his own. Angle kicks out, Benoit goes for crossface, Angle reverses, pins him and gets one of his own. Ref bump- Benoit gets crossface. Angle taps, no ref. Benoit tends to ref- Angle gets Angle Slam for two. Bodyslam by Angle but he misses moonsault. Benoit his diving headbutt- two. Angle gets lowblow and rolls Benoit up with the tights. Excellent match. ****1/2

 

Michael Cole talks to a pissed off William Regal. Kamala is in his office. Regal: You want me to rub the moons on my belly??

 

JR and Paul hype gimmick battle royal. In Ft. Hood, Texas they had a WM pep rally. Bradshaw, Taker, Trish, Lita, Jackie and Angle were all there and add comments.

 

Kevin Kelly talks to Kurt Angle who doesn’t respect Benoit. Benoit attacks and locks the crossface on him. Angle taps. JR and Paul discuss. Video package of Chyna-Ivory.

 

Ivory v. Chyna- WWF Womens Title

 

Ivory attacks but Chyna shrugs it off. Powerbomb- Chyna picks her up. Press  slam wins it. DUD

 

Kurt Angle is on WWF Fanatic. Coach is with Jeff Bagwell and Moises Alou. Vince makes sure Trish has doubled Linda’s medication and they’re ready. Vince: You want shocking?? Tonight- you’ll get shocking. Video package of Vince-Shane.

 

Vince McMahon (w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) v. Shane McMahon in a streetfight

 

WCW gets huge boos as Shane gives them props. I see Storm, Awesome, Chavo and Stacey. Vince slaps Shane and beats on him. Shane gets a clothesline and spear and hammers away. Stephanie comes in to help and slaps Shane who no-sells. Shane baseball slides Vince and kicks his ass. Shane hits him with a sign and chokes him out with a cable. Shane jump off the rail and hits a clothesline on Vinnie Mac. Shane beats him with the kendo stick. He does some Road Dogg punches and Vince goes down. Shane places Vince on the Spanish Announce Table, whacks him with a monitor, and does the Holy Shit Elbow but SMH pulls Vince away and he goes SPLAT! Trish wheels down Linda and slaps Vince. SMH slaps her and we got a CATFIGHT! Mick breaks it up and SMH slaps him. Foley chases her away and Trish chases after her. Vince realises Linda is here and calls her a bitch. Mick stops him from going near him and wheels her away but gets chaired right in the face. That must’ve thrilled the Foley family. Vince takes Linda out of the wheelchair and kicks Shane. He sits Linda in a chair and throws Shane and four garbage cans into the ring. Shane gets hit with a garbage can multiple times. Vince is about to hit him again but LINDA RISES!!!! To an insane pop Linda rises from her chair and kicks Vince right in the balls. Mick returns and kicks his ass and then Shane does a Van Terminator using a garbage can all the way across the ring. HOLY SHIT!!! It gets the win. Sean Stasiak approves ***1/2

 

Taker and HHH get ready. At WWF Axess the Hardyz tell Kevin Kelly they’re ready.

 

 

Dudley Boyz v. Edge and Christian v. Hardy Boyz in TLC2 for the WWF Tag Titles  

 

Everyone goes after E-n-C. Double flapjack to Christian by Dudz and Hardyz and Dudz brawl. E-n-C smack the Hardyz and Dudz with ladder. E-n-C stomp on Matt’s nuts. Jeff gets drop toe-holded on a ladder. Edge climbs- Matt saves and they brawl. Edge clotheslines Matt off the ladder. Edge climbs- Matt takes him out. Hardyz hit Whysper in the wind off the two ladders on Christian. Dudleyz come in and clean house and hit the Wassup Drop on Edge. D-Von! What? GET THE TABLES! Edge gets layed out on a table and they powerbomb Jeff ON TO HIM! HOLY SHIT! Dudleyz set up two tables and put two on top. Soon all six climb- all six fall off including Christian who splats on the floor. Edge starts to climb when Spike Dudley runs in and Acid Drops Edge and Acid Drops Christian threw a table. That was cool. Rhyno runs in. He smashes D-Von with a ladder. GORE! GORE! GORE! To Bubba-Ray, GORE! GORE! GORE! to Matt- threw a table. Heeeeeeeeeeere’s Lita. Lita runs in and takes Edge off but gets pressed by Rhyno. Spike nutshots Rhyno and Litacurrana’s Rhyno. Spike whacks Rhyno with a chair who falls into the ladder causing Edge to fall on the ropes. Dudleyville Device on Rhyno. Lita chairshots Spike and takes off her shirt but walks into a 3-D. Edge chairs both Dudleyz but there’s no ladder. Jeff sets up a ladder with Lita’s shirt hanging off. Jeff sets-up the super-duper ladder and Swanton Bombs Rhyno and Spike through a table. HOLY SHIT! Four ladders are now in the ring. Christian and D-Von climb- Matt removes the ladder leaving them hanging. D-Von falls as does Christian. Jeff tries to walk the ladders but falls and almost kills himself. He climbs the ladder and hangs onto the belt while trying to keep his balance on the ladder. Bubba Ray moves the ladder leaving Jeff hanging. Edge flies off a ladder and spears Jeff Hardy into the ground. OH. MY. GOD! HOLY, HOLY, HOLY GOD! Bubba and Matt climb but Rhyno pushes them off and they go flying into four tables. HOLY SHIT to the 10th degree. They just go splat. Rhyno then lifts E-n-C on his shoulders and they win. *****

Gimmick Battle Royal

The entrances last longer than the match which is hilarious. Iron Sheik wins last eliminating Hillbilly Jim. Sgt. Slaughter runs and gives Sheik the Cobra Clutch.  DUD but it was great stuff.

Triple H v. The Undertaker

 

HHH’s entrance is amazing. Ditto Taker. Taker attacks before the bell and they brawl on the outside. HHH goes flying through the table the Spanish were using. They finally make it into the ring and HHH takes control. Slugfest- Taker wins and he no-sells a knee shot. Taker hammers away and gets a backdrop. Taker takes control. Taker misses elbow but shrugs it off and goes to work. HHH crotches him on Old School and takes control getting some near falls. Neckbreaker-2. Cover-2. Cover-2. HHH gets in the ref’s face. Taker attacks but eats facebuster. HHH goes and gets Suzy Sledge. Ref stops him and HHH goes for Pedigree but Taker slingshots him into ref. Chokeslam- 2. Taker is all: What? and beats up the ref. Taker kicks HHH’s ass and chucks him outside and then backdrops him into the crowd. They brawl up into the control area and Taker slugs away. Taker chucks him into another control area but gets chaired multiple times. Taker pops up and chokeslams and all the way to #### by gawd. Of course on the replay they show he got chokeslammed on padding but it was still a bitching visual. Taker jumps off and elbows HHH as the EMTs check on the Game. Taker beats up the EMTs and continues the assault. Back in- Taker picks up Suzy but gets lowblowed. HHH walks into a big boot trying to use Suzy.  They slug it out more and HHH goes downstairs. HHH goes for a slam but Taker reverses and hits a TOMBSTONE!!! He does the old school cover but there’s no ref. Taker goes for Last Ride but HHH bops him in mid air with Suzy…for two. The crowd is in shock. Taker blades as HHH hammers away. HHH punches him in the corner and says motherfucker. Taker grabs him and gives him the Last Ride to be 9-0. ***1/2

Rock is walking as we get the cage music. Austin looks in a mirror. Their time is now as we get a video package. Best Video Package Ever!!! JR and Paul hype next.

 

The Rock v. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for the WWF Title

 

Fink announces the match as no-DQ. JR is aghast. Austin attacks and slugs away. Rock comes back but walks into a Thesz Press and FU Elbow. Another FU Elbow but Rock gets a swinging neckbreaker. Austin blocks Rock Bottom, Rock blocks Stunner, Austin blocks Stunner an dumps Rock. They brawl on the outside and into the crowd and onto the announce table. Austin clotheslines him and rakes his eyes with a kneebrace. Back in- Austin stomps away and chokes Rock on ropes and drops a knee on him for two. Austin gets superplex for two. Austin exposes the turnbuckle. Rock fights back and gets a lariat and a throw for two. Rock clotheslines him out. They brawl on the outside more. Austin levels Rock with the ring bell. Austin levels him as Rock does a bladejob. He rams him into announce table. Austin continues to kick his ass back in. Rock fights back but Austin gets a neckbreaker for two. Austin punches him some more. Austin stomps a mudhole and walks it dry. Rock explodes out of the corner with a lariat and kicks his ass. Rock levels him with ring bell for two. Austin blades. Rock hammers away and continues to kick his ass. Austin fights back and slingshots him right into the ringpost. Rock goes SMACK! That was sick. They brawl by the announcers and Rock gets pasted with a monitor. Back in- it gets two. Rock blocks the kick part of kick wham stunner and gets a sharpshooter. “Shades of Bret Hart and Austin of Wrestlemania part’. A bloodied Austin is screaming while bleeding profusely trying to reach the ropes. Austin barely makes the ropes. Austin blocks another Sharpshooter by going to the eyes and gets his own Sharpshooter. Rock makes ropes pissing off Austin who goes to work on him. Austin gets Sharpshooter again- Rock makes ropes. It takes Austin awhile to break. Austin gets the Million Dollar Dream!! Arm drops twice, not thrice. Rock walks the ropes and flips back like from Survivor Series 1996. Austin now knows the counter and releases the hold. Austin continues to hammer away. Rock gets stunner out of nowhere. He’s slow to cover and only gets two. Vinnie Mac comes out. Rock hammers away but walks into a spinebuster for two. Rock gets a spinebuster and hits the People’s Elbow but Vince pulls Rock off at two. Rock calls Vince some R-rated words and chases him and walks right into a Rock Bottom from Austin!… for two. Vince is shocked. Rock blocks stunner and shoves Austin into the ref. Austin gets a lowblow and tells Vince to give him a chair and he levels Rock with it. Vince throws the ref in and it gets two. Austin goes for another chairshot but Rock scores with the Rock Bottom. Vince distracts the ref and gets tossed in. He beats on Vince and walks into KICK WHAM STUNNER…for two. Austin is mega-pissed. Vince gives him a chair and he smacks him in the head for two. Austin is really, really, really pissed now and hits Rock SIXTEEN TIMES with the chair for the win and his fifth WWF Title. Match was absolutely fantastic and just because of the whole epic feel it had- I’ll ignore the one or two mistakes and give it *****. Austin and Vince shake hands and sheer a beer and level Rock with the title belt.

 

The Bottom Line- A little over eleven months later and I still consider this to be the best Wrestlemania ever. Everything that sucks (the RTC) is kept short and the gimmick battle royal is great nostalgia fan. 67,925 came here to see an epic show and they got what they wanted. This wraps up my look back at Wrestlemania. It’s been a lot of fun. X-7 is the best Wrestlemania EVER.
