Guest bravesfan Report post Posted February 16, 2003 You also can't forget Taker botching The Last Ride on Regal, Test, and Flair. Any dates of these occurances? How badly botched were these? EDIT: Thanks NSW. Out of those 3, the Flair incident was the only one I've seen. It was more of a "blown" spot (bad set-up to the move) than a "botched" spot (actual move is botched, resulting in injury, etc.), so I just ignored it for the most part. Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted February 16, 2003 The Flair one was at WrestleMania last year. The Test one was during the Invasion. The Regal one was during 2000.
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted February 16, 2003 If you watch the TLC match from Raw, Bubba does the helicopter spot with the ladder on his shoulders, he hits Christian in the back of the head and Christian takes a back bump.
J.B. Buzzkill 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 You also can't forget Taker botching The Last Ride on Regal, Test, and Flair. He botched it on The Rock too and almost Gansobombed him.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted February 16, 2003 i think the Jericho Shooting Star Press was him just practicing and trying to do the move, not in an actual match
Guest Mr. Adam Report post Posted February 17, 2003 The Ric Flair 'botched' Last Ride was just a way to set up for the Tombstone piledriver. If you look closely, Taker has the momentum to bring him up for it. He deliberatly stops short. My favourite botched spot was Rico shouting out to Jeff Hardy during SS 2002. "Come on Jeff, god damnit!" Too funny.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 17, 2003 Any smarter-than-Laz fans here know of a match where a spot was intentionally blown (not to SHOW the psychology of the match, but to be PART of the psychology)? Misawa/Kobashi 1/97 Misawa's been getting his arm chewed up and spat out by KK, goes for a German suplex, and barely gets any of it at all, making it look very very bad. He then immediately grabs his arm and shows the whole crowd exactly why that happened. Not sure if that totally counts, but it was a move that intentionally looked bad to further the psych. Guest deadbeater Report post Posted February 17, 2003 I like the way Molly 'messes' up spots; she sometimes make moves too close to the ropes, but she, by using them, 'inadvertently' make a move look even nastier, even though she is one of the safest workers around. Oh, and the way she corrects moves done to her while she is mid-air.

I'm pretty sure it was intentional and not a blown spot, it's the same way Kawada went for a powerbomb in the 12/3/93 match but collapsed because of his "injured" knee. The spots only look bad out of context, in context both further the work that was being done.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 17, 2003 Test getting stuck in the ropes at 'Mania and Saturn trying to help him out while "beating him up" Anytime someone has to wait a really long time outside of the ring and make it look like he's woozy so the guy on the inside can set up his leap. Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 17, 2003 It was Eddie, not Saturn.
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted February 17, 2003 The Undertaker botched Last Ride on Test was pretty scarey. That was the one where Taker fell back into the ropes and almost lost Test over the ropes.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 17, 2003 It was Eddie, not Saturn. Saturn was on the outside of the ring and tried to help him out of the ropes.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 17, 2003 Are we thinking of the same thing. As far as my memory goes, there was just Test, Eddie and the ref. And when Eddie went outside to pull Test out, he slipped of the apron.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 17, 2003 I'm thinking of Saturn trying to help Test out of the ropes and doing these weak blows to try and make it look like he was attacking him. If I remember correctly Eddie did something like slipping or crotching himself to distract the ref so Saturn's "interference" wouldn't get him dqed
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Eddie tripped coming out of the ropes that match.
Guest Stunt Granny Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Was the spot from Fully Loaded 2000 where Rock tries to powerbomb Benoit, but Benoit's momentum carries over and he's dropped into the ropes planned or not?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 18, 2003 After watching Jeff Hardy/HBK vs. Jericho/Christian tonight, I wonder... How fun would Sabu vs. Jeff Hardy be to watch, if only to count all the blown spots?

Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted February 18, 2003 I guarantee saturn helped test out of the ropes in the WM match, I think they may have edited it out on the dvd but you know, I watch his every move. Trust me. The hhh/steiner 'match' at the rumble featured the worst beltshot this side of motegi, and an, ahem, 'Powerbomb'. At least that was the intention. Guest Stunt Granny Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Not really what you'd call a blown spot, but in the ME of 'mania 17 the Rock rolls onto the announce table and it kinda just falls apart like a house of cards. Really showed fans how solid those tables are.
Guest Reverb Report post Posted February 20, 2003 The Test one was during the Invasion. October 18th, 2001 to be precise. I saw that fuck-up live from the Molson Centre.

They intentionally made a move look bad/blown to further the psych. Someone asked if that had ever been done, earlier in the thread. I can't say anything bad about 1/97. It's easily my favorite AJ match.
