Don't they see they only hurt themselves like the fucking hippies wearing Tye Dye and FLowers?

Why do so many of these protestors have pictures of Che Guervera on a sign, or t-shirt.

What does piracy have to do with the war on Iraq?

Because the Anti-war movement is simply camouflage for the Anti-America movement.

I admittedly don't know much about Che Guevara, but did he ever even set foot in America/rally his people against America? It is possible to be anti-capitalist without being anti-American you know.

As for anti-war = anti-America, I really can't touch upon that statement and should let such ignorance speak for itself.

I'll agree with you on that part way in that you can be against big business, corporations and all that jazz and still be pro-America. But capitalism is more than just an economic system, it represents individial rights. Go to this site as it explains in greater detail the much deeper meaning behind capitalism. To oppose the underlying concepts of capitalism (a system that parallels man's rational nature) is, in a way, to be against everything America stands for. Go to the site and take the tour

The War in Iraq, is not why alot of these people are protesting. They have totally different agendas. Alot of them anti-american, anti-capitalist, marxist believes. There only using the people who are protesting because of the possible war.

I'd be out there protesting the actual war myself. Other agendas can be brought up at other protests. I love America a LOT, but have no qualms about showing up at one of these. When my car is working again I'm going up to NC or Atlanta or the nearest area of activity.

And I love capitalism for the same reason the Eastern bloc adopted it. I like stuff, and the possibility of more stuff, and more, and more, and more.

Would you like it if the police took that attitude and you were protesting something?

How the hell can a mime fight back. He can only pretend to throws rocks at the police.

Yeah, upon closer review that's a chick, dude.

I really hate how these people are going about it, since that woman's sign reminded me. I mean, I know they're trying to get their message heard, but don't get drastic and put a toothbrush moustache on Bush.

How does not wanting war = anti american?

I don't want crime either. I don't like seeing innocent people get killed. So, I guess that makes me a bad American. I fail to see Iraq as a threat now, or anytime soon, and I fail to see this as a just war. And for the record, I have yet to burn an American flag in my life, or commit any act that could be described as anti-American. I think that logic is flawed.

Not wanting war doesn't make you anti-american. I think that alot of people involved in the protest are anti-american for other reasons.

Why do you say that?

I hope you'd back that up with facts. The very idea of protest is very American, after all.

It doesn't help their cause that they're marching with signs BLAMING America and Bush for all the world's ills. There's a big difference between being against a war because you think it's an unwise decision (like Kotz does) than protesting against America. Big difference. For the most part, these protestors see the U.S and Bush as bigger threats than Saddam, Bin-Laden, Islam ect.

The founders of A.N.S.W.E.R, are the same people who founded a marxist group called the World Worker's Party in the late 50's in support of the Soviet Union against the Hungarian uprising.

Know before someone says being a communist makes you an anti-american. These people probably admit not liking the United States.

I find it funny that these people are protesting against violence yet they go and start fights with the cops.

And all they accomplish with these protests is pissing off all the residents of the city that have to deal with the traffic clusterfuck these people cause.

Um... I'm sure you brought this up for a reason, but I don't know what for. Are these the main organizers of the nation's protests or something? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else in this thread is why I ask.

No, the State is never at fault. Let's not have this fight again.

EDIT: I'm glad that differences can be seen though between people like me and some of these radicals out there. Thanks Olympic Slam for noticing.

Living around OSU campus I've seen these situations millions of times.

The cops are usually doing their jobs and some idiot can't handle that so he does something and the cops have to arrest them then the media descends upon it and makes it look like the poor college students are being bullied by the cops.

Guest Kotzenjunge

Most, about 70% of the time, it is the fault of a few overzealous people starting the fight. But to say that the police never start it is kinda silly.

Guest Mad Dog

I never said the cops are never at fault. Every now and then the cops do go a little too far, but at least around here the media always does it's best to make the cops look bad.

And I totally agree that usually one or two idiots get everyone around them into a bad situation.
