I've seen cops go too far many a times, at protests and on the streets.

Um... I'm sure you brought this up for a reason, but I don't know what for. Are these the main organizers of the nation's protests or something? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else in this thread is why I ask.

I was just giving example of one of the leading anti-war groups being founded by an anti-american, anti-capitalist marxist group.

I hope you'd back that up with facts. The very idea of protest is very American, after all.

It doesn't help their cause that they're marching with signs BLAMING America and Bush for all the world's ills. There's a big difference between being against a war because you think it's an unwise decision (like Kotz does) than protesting against America. Big difference. For the most part, these protestors see the U.S and Bush as bigger threats than Saddam, Bin-Laden, Islam ect.

Exactlty. Some of these protestors see Bush as being more of a bad guy than Saddam, or that Bush is as bad as Hitler. Hopefully, these are the fringe elements.

 

It's totally possible to be against the war without being against America, but when you let these "Bush=Hitler" idiots take all the press coverage, then all of the protestors look like idiots.

Politically and on the world stage, yes. As a proxy to trumpet the uglier side of patriotism? Hell no. I know quite a few people who dislike the policies and politics of George W. Bush, and I would never question their love for America for a second. There are a lot of people around the world who aren't exactly fans of America, though, and they'll pillory the president no matter who he is and no matter what his politics are.

We don't decide the President based on popular vote. Bush was the winner because he received more electoral votes than Gore.
