Batman:Gotham Knights

Back when it was announced that Batman: Shadow of the Bat (A title which had always focused on the more romantic elements of the Batman mythos.) was being replaced by a newer, harder, title that focused on solid detective work- I was excited. I heard the title, and groaned Gotham Knights, sounded too "Extended Family" ish for my liking. I wanted Batman dammit; not Azreal and Batgirl

The first issue: A story about a child who killed his own family, and Batman's refusal to accept that as the truth until he heard the child say it for himself, blew me away. It was a perfect detective story that used the Batman character to enrich the story. I had high hopes.

Then they fucked up the next four issues, and I dropped the title.

So, from someone who has read gotham Knights more extensivly, has Gotham Knights suceeded in finding it's own niche? Or is it still, for lack of a better term, ghey?

Batman: Gotham Knights is around Superman: Man of Tomorrow bad.

It's nothing to write home about or pick up.

Expect to see more storylines cross-over into the book in order to pick-up sales.

Could you be a bit more specific?

I mean, I caught that you didn't like it, but you didn't really say why.

Wasn't Gotham Knights where Bane claimed to be the son of Thomas Wayne? How did that pan out? I'm sure it didn't wind up with Bane and Batman finding out they really are brothers, did it?

It is a throwaway book. None of the stories in their will ever have a holding effect on the two main Batman titles with every story to be forgotten after the next storyline.

It's a waste of money since the book has no impact on the other Bat titles for a fear of it disrupting the Batman titles and pissing off the fans who don't buy the book or the creators on the Big Two titles who don't care to incorporate the stories/ideas/plots from Gotham Knights into the other Bat books they work on.

Hence why I said it was Superman: Man of Tomorrow bad since MoT had the same problem once the creators gave up on trying to get fans to read a book that had no importance to the other main Supes titles.
