Guest Samurai_Goat Report post Posted February 18, 2003 I'm sorry I don't have the source, and I'm lookin' for it, but Indians has nothing to do with India. It's actually part of the Spanish phrase (not exact, I'll try and find the source) "People of God", or La gente en Dios. En Dios was eventually shortened to Endios. If you say it with a bit of a slur at the end, the ending s sounds a bit like an n, which phonetically sounds like indians.
Guest Samurai_Goat Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Oh, my most hated PC crap: Everyone is gifted in their own way. At least they could get it gramatically right, and say each is gifted in his or her own way, but no. Why not? Because everyone is a complete dumbass...in his or her own way. I know atleast one George Carlin book mentioned this (not sure I'd call that a source, but that might be where you heard it). He also said (not sure if this is true or not) that at the time of Colombus, India was not called India but Hindustan (or something like that). Whether all of that is actually true, I have no idea. Guest Samurai_Goat Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Yea, I heard that Hindustan thing too, and, if it's true which I'm pretty darn certain it is, it would be impossible for Indians to be thought of as being from India.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Yeah. Fuck Columbus. Agent's viking ancestors were too hardcore for Columbus, and my Scottish ancestors were too busy beating the fuck out of each other to care about far off lands. WALLACE! WALLACE! WALLACE! WALLACE! ...I'm done now... Fuck being PC. "Politically Correct" is just a nice way of saying "censorship."
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Hey, my kin were slappin' your'n around, too. Well, until 1066-ish. Many of them were Berzerkers. There's a grind band called The Berzerker. I like grindcore. Coincidence? I think not.

Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 18, 2003 In general I dislike people claiming to be something that they are not, there are so many examples such as Spanish or African being the most common. Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted February 19, 2003 It's not PC or anything, but anybody get annoyed by people that have handicap placards for their cars yet get out of their car and walk around just fine? Granted, they could be partially deaf or something, but you know...well, enough digression. I'm waiting for political correctness to force me to say "8 counts of personslaughter". Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted February 19, 2003 I also hate the ???-American stuff. If a white person is born in South Africa then moves here, then would they be an African-American? Damn right. -An Eastern-European-American.
Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted February 19, 2003 It's actually part of the Spanish phrase (not exact, I'll try and find the source) "People of God", or La gente en Dios. Bahahahahahaha. And we slaughtered and pillaged the "people of God" for four centuries. Good stuff. Somehow, I doubt they would call them "People of God".

Guest Some Guy Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Since we insist on being racist based on the color of our skin, we don't call them American. Since we feel the need to label everyone, Native American is the way to go. It's the left who insists on that and keeps changing the fucking names. It's really annoying. What the fuck happened to the "Orientals"? One day there were a few billion of them and then they were gone. When did "Asian" become Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc...? Last I checked the whole Middle East, India, Pakistan, and 2/3 of Russia were also in India. What makes the Orientals so special that they get to adopt the name of the continent as their own, especially when they aren't even a majority of the population? Same goes for "African-Americans." Egyptians aren't black. What's wrong with "Oriental" anyway? And don't give me this "Oriental is rugs and food" bullshit. I'm not even sure how the Orientals gotr the name anyway, it originally belonged to the Pakistanis, who the Brits called "WOGs" or "Worthy Oriental Gentlemen." I'm really sick and fucking tired of all these goofy labels and hyphens added to people to make them seem more different. Aren't we supposed to be a melting pot? I say let's fucking melt and cut this shit out. Why should I or anyone else have to say what his race is on a test or an application? Who fucking cares? Look at the test and grade the God Damned thing, look at the application and choose the best one. I usually check "Eskimo or Pacific Islander" because that is the silliest one of the batch. They don’t live anywhere near each other and don’t really look a like. What's the difference between "Colored People" and "Persons of Color"? Not a God Damned thing! What's wrong with "black" and why do I get overly-sensitive people trying to explain why "African-American" or "Person of Color" is better, while they refer to me a just plain "white." I want a fancy name. "Caucasian" doesn't cut it. Where's the affirmative action when it comes to dumb shit euphemistic language? If this keeps up I'm going to start insisting on being called a "German, Swedish, English, Welsh, Irish-American". "Differently-abled" really bothers me too, but I start to sound even more like a George Carlin rant if I go into that. I hate PC bullshit language, BTW. You're a filthy American peice of scum for not knowing that this Cheekbone is indigenous only to the southern area of northern South Korea!" I call them Asian or Oriental. It's the left who insists on that and keeps changing the fucking names. It's really annoying. Well, we all know your agenda. What's my agenda? Telling the truth is the only one I have. It is the leftist white elites who keep changing the "proper" ethnic names. How many times has the title for black people changed? How many times was it the GOP who started it? Political correctness is very much a product of the over-sensitive "Must not offend or God forbid JUDGE anyone" anyone left. It wasn't a conservative group who got all pissed off about the word "niggardly" (which means cheap or stingy and has nothing to do with race), it was the left. Dispute that and explain my "agenda". Guest EricMM Report post Posted February 20, 2003 AFAIK the normal asian people I know will accept the word Asian, NOT the word Oriental, simply because of the rug association. Similarly, if you call a cambodian chinese, you're really going to irritate a lot of people. Then there are elitist non-normal asian people, who only associate with certain types of asian society, be it chinese, korean, vietnamese, what have you. AND don't get me started on the term FOB. Many Asians today are as racist a group as any I know. They'll hang out with you in class and such, you you can't REALLY be their friend unless you're an American born Chinese person. With the right tone of skin.

I mean, I hear of so many things that go or went on at other schools, it amazes me. And to think, I live in the Deep South! Hmmm interesting. I went to school in SF Bay Area California where everybody has a total boner for diversity, multiculturalism, and cultural relativism. And from all that we came away with a totally racially divided school when it came to social groups. This wasn't even the ghetto either, very upper-middle class area. And you didn't have these problems in a school from the deep south? Very interesting, makes me more confident in my belief that diversity, multiculturalism ect does nothing to create unity; it only creates more division. You can't break down barriers when more walls are being put up around you.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 20, 2003 My school would've been all sorts of racially divided, that is, if there were different races there. In the four years I went there, there were literally less than half a dozen non-white kids.
