Simpsons 300th Episode

Recommended Posts

Guest Hamburger Man

I have two things to talk about and I didnt feel like making two separate. First is the Simpsons 300th episode. Let us put our discussions about the show in here.

Next on the list is Jim Breuer. I guess he is coming out with the Jim Breuer show soon. Its going to be playing on comedy central. Does anybody know what kind of show this is going to be? Stand up? skits? I am really interested to know. Jim is one of my favorite white comedians. Next to Dave Attell. Anybody know more info on the show?

I'll say this about the 300th Simpsons... it had better not be full of meta references. The one on the preview was more than enough.

That's all I want to see, Kotz. Especially since the Simpsons has freakin' Blink 182 on for the 300th episode. I don't care what they do, it'll be GHEY~!

I dunno, it was all right. I got my chuckles out of it.

That 300th episode was way overhyped. They didn't do anything special and it was no more than just an average episode, if not below. Maybe I was wrong to go in expecting something good just because I've seen 3000 commercials for it.

I haven't seen any commercials, so I was expecting a normal episode, much like the 200th wasn't that special either.

Barney: "R-E-L-A-P-S-E - this is what beer's done to me! Sock it to me! Sock it to me!" :P

See, back in the day it'd be Homer missing one of Lisa's big moments for a football game or something. Now it's for a fucking sandwich. What the fuck.

What the FUCK kind of ending was that? Her face in Mount Springfield?

I know, I was waiting for someone to fall off it, but we get "ultra happy ending" ;)

Don't worry, its the Simpsons, so it'll be forgotten by the next episode, much like George Bush/Gerald Ford's house.

Man, this Married With Children special makes me miss the old Simpsons even more, back when they were both on Sunday nights.

Man when Homer first was eating the Ribwich ...i was laughing my ass off!

What happened at the end of the 300th episode?

I had to step out like right after Bart met Tony Hawk and them.

I think some of you are way to cynical when it comes to the Simpsons. Sure it's not as great as it used to be, but jeez, you all sound like you're talking about wrestling now. It's like you watch it just so you can bash it. If you have that big of a problem with it now, then don't even bother watching it.

As for the 300th ep. goes, I thought it was quite good, as was the one that followed it. Some people may slam the Simpsons for being to "unreal" now, but hey, it's a freaking cartoon- what's the point of it being animated if they can't get a little weird sometimes? The Requiem for a Dream parody in the second episode with Homer was pretty funny, but I'm sure most of the people watching didn't get it. I don't mind the pop culture references, but I'm sure a lot of the people watching don't get a lot of them because of how obscure they can be. Personally, that's what I like about most of their pop culture references, because each time you watch an episode you find something new to laugh about. That's one of the things that makes the Simpsons appeal to so many different demographics. There's some obvious humor that the kids can laugh at and there's the "smarter" humor that adults can laugh at.

All in all, it was a good two-hour block of FOX programming (MWC Reunion included), which is something you can't find too often of TV these days.

Check out MSNBC.Com and they have a story about why the Simpson's has gotten worse the last 6 seasons.

It goes beyond how time you laugh during a certain show. I still laugh at times during the show. I just hate what they've done to the show's premise, and too the character themselves. They've ruined the entire Simpson family.

Are the Simpsons as funny as they used to be? No, of course not. But to compare it only to itself is unfair. It's still one of the best shows - it not THE best - on TV. For everyone that says how much an episode "sucks": what would you rather have watched for that thirty minutes.

As of now, there is only 1 show on regular TV (as in non-cable) that I still plan my day around, and that's the Simpsons on Sunday nights. Anything else, I'm pretty apathetic about. Did I think the 300th was a great episode? No, not at all. But did I think it was a bad episode? No, not at all. It was average-to-above-average, with a few big laughs. Good enough for me.

I like the Simpsons MORE now. I hate the "Don't have a cow, man" era of stuff. It wasn't funny at all.

I don't care about their characters, if I laugh, I laugh.
