Guest What? Report post Posted February 18, 2003 It's true... even I, the biggest Rowley mark on the boards, think that Lee has got the 360 Flip down better than Geoff does... Geoff's got him beat in the gnarly category, though...we all can agree on that?

Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Yo eyeball, what do you like so much about 'nonsuch'? I love XTC, but I could never recommend the later over the early stuff. The 2 disc singles collection 'fossil fuel' has disc 1 'the good songs' and disc 2 'the hmmm songs'. I love 'the dissapointed' but they just didn't sound that special to me after 'drums and wires'. 'skylarking' is a pretty damn good album though. Anyhew, top 5..er.....colours of my nails?? 1. black 2. pink 3. flesh 4. purple 5. blue I'm such a fucking poser. Though certainly respectable, their early stuff doesn't rock my world like the era of English Settlement and everything that came after it. I prefer their embracing of classical pop structures and psychedelia than their new wave stuff. As for Nonsuch, I love it. It contains many of Andy Partridge's finest moments--"The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead" and "Books are Burning" send me into ecstasy every time I hear them--and may well be one of my very favorite albums. Period.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Dude, an actor is the best skater ever? That's like saying Ronald Reagan is the best president. Ronald Wilson Reagan IS the best president in the modern era (e.g. anything in the last 60 years ... if it wasn't for stupid FDR he'd be the best in the last 200 or so) And with so many skateboard posts, has anyone seen that the old Nickelodeon show sk8tv is on one of the random digital cable tv stations? I COMPLETELY forgot it ever existed, but caught it at a friends house the other night. Random late 80s/early 90s skate moves, the lame host Skatemaster Tate, OMG I forgot how much that show ruled. Guest Eyeball Kid Report post Posted February 19, 2003 ^ that is one weird ass playlist. It all blended quite well, actually. I've been doing the show since November, and rarely have I encountered such sustained sonic unity. I would do theme shows more often were they not such a hassle to put together. EDIT: Too bad I have a cold. My voice was hoarse as shit today.

Guest godthedog Report post Posted February 19, 2003 top 5 reasons god might hate me: 1. i am alone 2. my primary goal in life is to get this one particular movie finished, & almost every conceivable thing has been put in the way of that 3. he won't give me any definitive answers on his existence, which is all i've ever really wanted from him since high school 4. i am always broke 5. i have no best friends left within 500 miles of me
Guest Eyeball Kid Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Ignoring your childish taunting, Flyboy, I'll address your earlier statement about a love song theme. So much of music--regardless of genre or commercial exposure--deals with love, that it would be necessary to narrow it down to certain types of love songs. Funny ones? Heartfelt ones? Ugly? Twisted? A mixture? It's a lot of trouble over something that's far too prevelant to begin with. No matter what theme I tackle (if I do so) in the future, I doubt I'll pull off something as good as today. Everything flowed so wonderfully; I had a block of music what went from free jazz (Coleman) to jazz-funk-rock fusion (Davis) to noise rock with jazz inflections (Tengo). I ended off with a couple of mellow, piano-based tracks (Eno and Waits), which was the cap to what I think may be the best show I've ever done. Huzzah. Geoff's got him beat in the gnarly category, though...we all can agree on that? Eh, Heath Kirchart does some pretty fuckin gnarly shit. Thomas can still rock and roll even if he's an old man now. There's a new Emerica ad for Kirchart that shows him kickflip frontside 50-50ing the UCLA Rail that prett much everybody has done a grind or slide trick on, but nobody has flipped into. Kirchart rocks.

Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted February 19, 2003 ^ i salute you in your love for bjork. you read 'war and peace'? I'm rather embarassed that I used to find a lot of Bjork overrated. But yeah, War and Peace was a long but very satisfying read. Brothers Karamazov on the other hand was pretty excruciating, though obviously very deep philosophically. I can understand why some people call it the greatest book ever written. If I could tolerate didactic writing and one dimensional characters I probably would too. I'll give them all the credit in the world for trying so many different styles and pulling them off relatively successfully, but intentionally or not they just went all generic rock towards the end for me. I think 'drums and wires' and 'skylarking' blend the most different sounds together with the best results. Top 5 sparks songs that I've heard (not many but I'm still obsessed) 1. Reinforcements (so simple, but SO addictive) 2. This town ain't big enough for both of us 3.
