Guest spman Report post Posted March 18, 2002 I tuned it when they start at 10 tonite, and fiannly got through to the show at about 10:30. My name was Geoff from Connecticut, and I bitched aobut how Flair vs Undertaker was one of the worst matches I had seen in quite some time. Anyways, the SportsByLine feed died at around 12:30, and it doesnt see as if it's going to be fixed before the show is over. I just wanted to know if anoyone else listned in tonite? It was a pretty good show, they got into some heated arguments with callers atbout the WM 3 Buyrate, and people caling their publications Dirtsheets. Also, Meltzer sadi that we should probobly expect a Title Change on RAW tomorrow, most likely Womens or Tag. Other then that, it was mainly them taking peoples calls. Good show. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Yeah, referring to the Observer as a "dirt sheet" is a pretty good way to get (the normally upbeat) Dave on an angry rant. As of now, the feed is still broken.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Well.....I missed most of it because of that #### show of mediocrity known as Wrestlemania. If I'd known WM was going to turn out like it did I would've just listened to Observer Live. And yeah that pissed me off at the end. All you get is Tony from Long Island....then it dies. ####.....and it was right there.....back! And then it was taken!
Guest Sykotic2002 Report post Posted March 18, 2002 It wouldn't let me log on. Did James from Kentucky call in?

Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Man it's still not back. Everytime I try to log on it gives me "Tony from Long Island" and then it cuts off 29 seconds in. Is this just me? #### and I even missed the replay.....
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Damaramu, you're not alone on that.
Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Can't guys like Meltzer get a real job instead of leaching off the success of others? The guy makes me sick.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Who's success is he leeching off of? And he does have a real job. He's a journalist.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Saying Meltzer doesn't have a real job because he writes about wrestling is like saying that Siskel and Ebert don't have real jobs because they write about movies.
Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted March 18, 2002 The WWF's success. The more successful the WWF is, and to a lesser extent, organisations around the world, the more dirt sheets he sells. He's not a journalist, he's a leech. EDIT. I think all critics are leeches, not just Meltzer.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Report post Posted March 18, 2002 Saying that all critics are leeches is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Without criticism, any artform is essentially meaningless. Critics don't just say "this is good, and that sucks", it's about trying to understand what makes one piece of artwork good, or bad. Without critics and analysists to say "that move/book/song/match didn't work, here's why", artforms wouldn't evolve.
Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted March 18, 2002 I agree partly, but surely all artforms are a vehicle for individual or collective expression, regardless of any criticism they garner. There's a difference between opinion and criticism. Do you think any artists truely listen to critics to evolve their artform? Do you honestly think that non-critics take a critics advice to heart for that matter? If so, you obviously haven't seen the state the film industry is in. Guest The Masked Yodeler Report post Posted March 18, 2002 The film industry is in the shitter because the money people don't pay attention to the critics and analysts. Ditto with wrestling. If Vince would just listen to Meltzer once in a while, things would be in better shape. And I do think that artists listen to critics to evolve their artform. For example, most people involved in the film industry went to film school. And what they were taught in film school is based on the criticism of earlier films which lead to a greater understanding of how film works. Wrestling seems to be an exception. Most wrestlers and bookers seem to ignore the critics out of some macho belief that people who've never stepped foot in a ring can't understand how wrestling works, so what they think doesn't matter.
