Guest Spicy McHaggis Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 I love playoff hockey, but I thought I'd start watching early. Just wanted to get a recap. Who's good? Who's bad? Who's improving? The major storylines etc, etc.
Guest the pinjockey Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 The Flyers can't score to save their god damn lives. That is what I know of this season.
Guest Chuck Woolery Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 The Senators can't pay their players, yet they're in first place in the East. There's a storyline for you.
Guest starvenger Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 - The Rangers sprang their annual Big Trade, buying Alexi Kovalev from Mario Lemieux... I mean Pittsburgh, which past history tells us should be enough to keep them out of the playoffs. - The Leafs have been on a roll, but once again seem destined for a 4 or 5th place finish. - The Sharks look to be having a fire sale real soon, and will probably trade Owen Nolan and Bryan "Career Killer" Marchment before the trade deadline. - One bankrupt team, Ottawa, is 1st overall, while the other, Buffalo, is last.
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 The Canucks have become a powerhouse team now, and looks to be winning the Northeast. The Avs didn't look very good at all this season, but they've been on a tear since firing their coach and could challenge the Canucks for the division title. The Minnesota Wild somehow became good. I don't know either. Looks like they'll make the playoffs. Detroit looked crappy at first, but now they're doing really well again. Hooray. I hope they get annilihilated. The Stars look like they're the best team in the league right now. And the Rangers really really suck.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 WOOOOOO!!!! LAST PLACE BABY!!!!!!!
Guest fazzle Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 WOOOOOO!!!! LAST PLACE BABY!!!!!!! LALALALALALALA, I can't heeeeeeeeeeear you! Nope, no last place. The season just started, and the Sabres are 2-0 after beating the Islanders and Canadiens by a combined score of 11-2. No, they haven't played any more games than that. None. At all.
Guest treble charged Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Are you blinded by all those empty seats at the Sabres' home games?
Guest MaxPower27 Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Well, my boys in Ottawa have been cleaning house. But, that's already been covered. My other team, the Bruins were the best team in the NHL, up until around December, where they apparently forgot that you have to keep playing.
Guest CanadianChris Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 And Jersey is Jersey...winning despite only scoring around 2 goals a game.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 My other team, the Bruins were the best team in the NHL, up until around December, where they apparently forgot that you have to keep playing. You can blame me for the Bruins decline. I'm supposed to be boycotting the team this year (long time season ticket holder who finally got sick of giving that walking piece of shit Jacobs my hard earned money) but broke down and bought two tickets to a game for a date. She'd never been to a Bruins game, and I figured it was a sweet way to spend three hours with her, so bought tickets to Dec. 4 against the Blues. The B's got shelled and haven't looked good since. I truly apologize to all Bruins fans, I shouldn't have put getting some over the Bruins winning a Cup.
Guest Karnage Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 The Canucks...after they miraculously took Detroit to overtime and then won today.

Guest treble charged Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 This year's Bruins = last year's Flames
Guest DawnBTVS Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Man...what is it with our Boston teams starting hot and always choking down the stretch? God must love tormenting us diehard Bostonians.
Guest AllCanadian Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 There's going to be a all Canadian final of Canucks and Senators...end of recap.
Guest treble charged Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 They've gone into the shitter. Something like 13 points out of the playoffs, or something (maybe not that much, I'm not really sure, but they aren't close).
Guest gthureson Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 The 'Canes just imploded in early December. They were about where I expected them to be at that point (hanging around first place in their division, sometimes a couple up, sometimes three or four down), and then they just came apart. More or less around the time they traded Malek for Hlavac. Now injuries are piling up, and you can stick a fork in them.
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Getting rid of Kapanen for (as I recall) a bunch of nothing was a pretty dumb move on Carolina's part too. Poor Ron Francis. Though at least Kevin Weekes has established himself as a starter.
Guest cartman Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Bruins are garbage until they get Gill, O'donnel, and Samsonov back from injuries. The real sad part is Ftorek will be fired before then. He will be the 8th coach fired this season in the NHL...that's almost 1/3 of the coaches that began the season! Insane!
Guest The Czech Republic Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 Blackhawks suck now, because Thibault keeps having bad days.
