Guest Mr. Adam Report post Posted February 18, 2003 Word up, I just got me a new region free DVD Player and am thinking of ordering a few of the new Pride DVD's off Highspot. I'm just getting in to the whole MMA thing and the only other DVD I have is UFC V: Return of the Beast. I downloaded a shitload of clips off Sherdog featuring Sakuraba, Ortiz and the likes so that's how limited my exposure is. Any ideas?

Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Get Pride 19 if it's out. Shamrock/Frye is awesome. And Pride 13 is cool just to see Sak get the shit kicked out of him.
Guest Brian Report post Posted February 19, 2003 Not to be a shill, but I have copies of Pride 6-10 that I'm trying to get rid of as part of my big tape sale.

Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I thought the PRIDE GP was overrated. IMO, the best DVDs are: PRIDE 10 PRIDE 14 PRIDE 17 PRIDE
Guest Brian Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I liked the Grand Prix, but it is overrated. Easy to find though, check out E-Bay.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted February 20, 2003 The Sakurabe/Gracie "fight" was a cure for Insomnia. I actually enjoyed the Shamrock/Otsuka match the most, which ironically wasn't a GP match. Oh, and Mark Coleman falling over trying to jump the ropes
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Ugh. That Sak/Royce "epic" was one of the most borring fights ever. Although Shamrock vs Severn was MUCH worse.

Guest benoitrulz4life Report post Posted March 2, 2003 In order: 1. Return of the Warriors Best Match: Sakuraba vs. Renzo Gracie, among many great matches. Best MMA card I have ever seen, not really a boring fight on the card. 2. Grand Prix Finals Best Match: Sakuraba vs. Royce Gracie (Only if you love LONG technical bouts, I really thought they were handicapped by the gay rules, IMO it would have been eons better with the standard round system.) 3. Collision Course Best Match: All pretty short matches, but watch Sakuraba/Silva, Coleman/Goes, and Renzo/Henderson and you'll have the equivalent of one normal length match. 4. Raging Rumble Best Match: Sakuraba vs. Jackson or the war between Vovchanchyn and Satake, really just a kickboxing match. 5. Battle of the Rising Sun Best Match: Herring vs. Erikson, where Herring officially arrives. 6. Cold Fury Best Match: Silva/Henderson, pretty brutal match. 7. Championship Chaos Best Match: Nogueira/Herring, maybe the best PRIDE fight ever, along with Sak/Renzo. 8. Pride 8 Best Match: Trigg/Iha, surprisingly good match for the amount of time it lasted. 9. Pride 4 Best Match: Sakuraba/Goes, where Sak goes the distance in a great technical fight; and Rickson/Takada, the rematch, which may or may not be rigged, depending on whether or not you like Takada 10. Grand Prix Opening Round Best Match: Vovchanchyn vs. Otsuka, Otsuka hangs with Igor in a tough opening round match. 11. Clash of the Titans Best Match: Mezger/Liddell, brutal finish which come out of nowhere. 12. Pride 2 Best Match: Sakuraba/Vernon White, Sak's debut in PRIDE. 13. Pride 7 Best Match: Kerr vs. Vovchanchyn, controversial match which (eventually) led to rule changes. 14. Pride 6 Best Match: Matsui/Newton, long match with Matsui showing the survival traits he will use in later matches. 15. Pride 3 Best Match: Sakuraba/Newton, one of the best technical matches in MMA history. 16. Pride 5 Best Match: Sakuraba/Belfory, many may not agree, but to them I say kiss my ass because this was a weird card. 17. Beasts from the East Best Match: Coleman/Nogueira, where a surprise is in store for one of them. Matsui vs. Rua is just as good, Rua's debut. 18. Cold Fury 2 Best Match: Vovchanchyn/Overeem, IMO Vovchanchyn's last hurrah, but hopefully he'll be back because he's still young and he is a very popular fighter. I believe he is still one of the top ten heavyweights in the world. 19. Pride 1 Best Match: Do I have to choose one? I guess Takada/Gracie, but Goodridge and Taktarov is pretty entertaining. Overall this card kind of sucks. And for those of you who thought Sak/Gracie was boring just watch Kimo/Severn. 20. New Blood Best Match: Kind of a bland card. Vovchanchyn/Matsui is a decent fight, as Matsui goes toe to toe with yet another superior fighter. Thanks
