Guest Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 If they post a subpar year of profits, I think they'll go back to doing regular arenas again, but I hope not. Wrestlemania is supposed to be special. I say they try for the Metrodome in Minneapolis next year. Just no outdoor arenas please. If not that, an arena with a pretty good capacity close to 20,000.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 The WWF will probably go to a place they know they'll get a sell out to avoid what happened at WM VII. WM XX should be a lock for MSG. WM 19 should be at a place where the arena is big. I could see the WWF having WM 19 in Atlanta or Tampa.
Guest Rabies Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 Wasn't Tropicana Field in Florida one of the original first choices for this year's? How big is it anyways? I do know that WM20 will probably be at MSG. For next year's I'm guessing maybe Arrowhead Pond or Georgia Dome or something that holds 40-50,000 in attendence. Who knows.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 Wasn't Tropicana Field in Florida one of the original first choices for this year's? I belive it was, but the WWF went with the Skydome. I think it holds anywhere from 20,000-40,000. I may be wrong.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 The Metrodump is hosting the Midwest regional next year for college Basketball. Plus the crowds in Minnesota aren't that great when Raw or Smackdown comes to town. Also stay away from Southern California, WM XVI was ruined by the dead crowd.
Guest bravesfan Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 1. Georgia Dome 2. Florida (Miami "Heat" Arena? Tropicana Field?) 3. Seattle? Arizona? (The crowd may deaden in both areas...)
Guest Luke Michael Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I think they should have had it at Tropicana Field this year. It's Hogan's and Rock's home states. Maybe they can have it at Tropicana Field or even the Silverdome????? How bout Wembely Stadium if it's re-built before then??
Guest converge241 Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I think they should stay away from outdorr arenas also. I remember readin somewhere that Vince did say that XX would most certainley be in MSG. Id vote for Minnesotta or Georgia Dome for 19
Guest treble charged Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 If they want to have it in a dome, here are the places in North America that I can think of: (I'm excluding Toronto and Houston due to the fact that they just had the #### show) Detroit (Silverdome, Ford Field) Tampa (Tropicana Field) Minnesota (Metrodome) Vancouver (BC Place) Montreal (Olympic Stadium) St. Louis (TWA Dome [i know it has a different name now, but I can't think of it off the top of my head]) Syracuse (Carrier Dome) Atlanta (Georgia Dome) Indianapolis (RCA Dome) Louisiana (Superdome) Those are the only ones that I can think of, but they could also have it at Texas Stadium, since that is pretty much all covered, I guess.
Guest treble charged Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 Just an added note, I don't think that they'd be able to use one of the new baseball stadiums, like the ones in Seattle and Arizona, even though they are technically indoors. Most of these new places have grass playing surfaces, and with the start of baseball season being so close, I doubt the team's management would allow a wrestling ring and thousands of fans to walk all over it and leave only a few weeks for the groundscrew to fix it up.
Guest Brian Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 Doesn't Tropicana have the weird turf. I hope they use that just so when they have Rock pin Austin, it means a whole lot to the people in attendance.
Guest treble charged Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 Tropicana would be my choice if they were to have it in a dome next year. The reason is that it is big, but not huge, so if business continues to decline, 50,000 still equals a full house, so no huge sea of empty seats.
Guest Luke Michael Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I'm more and more wanting it at the Silverdome. Of course they will have to lie about the attendance again if they want to break it.
Guest MARTYEWR Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 The day they'll have Wrestlemania at Stade d'Olympique in Montreal will be the day Essa Rios wins a major title. If I had to guess now, I'd also say either the Georgia Dome (most likely of choices) or Tropicana Field. Wonder if the Superdome ranks up there...
Guest treble charged Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I was just listing possibilities. Olympic Stadium is a big building, capable of holding 65,000 for football. A football field is obviously bigger than a wrestling ring, so 70,000 people could conceivably fit in there for wrestling. Although, I wouldn't use too much pyro or loud music.
Guest MARTYEWR Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 No problem, just giving my opinion of the place. The Big O in Montreal does have pretty bad acoustics. I think that alone would cause Vince to avoid the place. Isn't there still a domed stadium in Washington? And no, I don't mean the Kingdome! Wasn't there the Tacoma Dome as well? If it's still around, how large is it?
Guest treble charged Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I don't think that the Tacoma Dome is really all that big. They have Raw/SmackDown there occasionally, I think it's just a normal size arena, but I could be wrong.
Guest spman Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 THey havent had a WM in the Northeast here since 14 in Boston (canada doenst count). It's time they come back here.
Guest Metallica Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I think the best spectacle would be if it were held in England. UK fans don't sit on their hands for 2hours..
Guest Reverb Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 You gave possibilities, I give you my analysis Silverdome (Pontiac, MI): I highly doubt it. TheWWF's buisness is not high enough to take that kind of chance. Tropicana Field (Saint Petersburg, FL): Could be a good place, they can pack 60 000 + people in that building. Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (Minneapolis, MN): Too big, see Silverdome. BC Place (Vancouver, BC): Not really, crowds are not that noisy up there Olympic Stadium (Montreal, QC) One of the best cities for wrestling in North America. I, for one, would LOVE to see WrestleMania X9 in my hometown. The huge blow concerning the Olympic Stadium is the horrible acoustics and the place is falling apart. Trans World Dome at America's Center (St. Louis, MO): A huge place, one of wrestling's best cities. Good possibility. Carrier Dome (Syracuse, NY) Never heard of that place Georgia Dome (Atlanta, GA): One of wrestling hotbeds, it would be a great place to hold WM. RCA Dome (Indianapolis, IN): Kinda old and with air suspended roof, you have less liberties than with a regular roof. Superdome (New Orleans, LA): They held the Super Bowl, why not WrestleMania? Reliant Stadium (Houston, TX): A brand new facility for a WrestleMania, wouldn't it be great?
Guest JHawk Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 As close to Cleveland as possible so I can go! Yeah, that's my only requirement, me being able to go. LOL
Guest Zero_Cool Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 The problem is that some of the loudest areas don't have huge arenas to go into. The United Center in Chicago can only hold so many for one.
Guest Choken One Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 Alamo Dome could work as it hold's 70,000 and it's a new area without alot of PPV's being there other then RR97...but why a dome? Can't they just drop the Arena's for a couple years before they get old? XX is in MSG, so for XIX go to Mexico City.
Guest Steveweiser Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 How about the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales? That holds about 70,000 for football and rugby, so they can easily pack 75,000 in for wrestling, plus it has a roof so the event can be done indoors. And the crowd are guaranteed to be LOUD!!! What more does Vince want???
Guest Tony149 Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I think you can rule out the WWF going back to Texas & Canada for WM 19. Both have held WM's for the last two years. Don't know if they would consider going back to the same place/arena two years in a row. I haven't seen the WWF go back to the same place/arena since WM IV & V. Although I would love to see a WM at the AlamoDome (I live in San Antonio).
Guest Tony149 Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I think one thing that could cost the fans overseas from getting a WM would be the time difference. I don't think Vince would want spoilers from WM leaking out before the show airs in the U.S. & Canada.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 The way things are going, they could just hold it in Vince's backyard
Guest Steveweiser Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 The way things are going, they could just hold it in Vince's backyard What, that dumpyard Hartford Civic Center again??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted March 18, 2002 Report Posted March 18, 2002 I heard that a big problem with Tropicana Field in Tampa was that it was something like a quarter-mile from the locker rooms to the ring, which could cause problems with entrances. The Carrier Dome (on the Syracuse University campus) is a 40,000-seat arena, but is was sued by the WWF because they were the ONLY arena (sez WWF) to refuse to let them hold a RAW there. Syracuse University just didn't approve of the WWF so they flat-out refused to discuss holding a show there.
