JasonX 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2003 Oh yeah Julian's marriage is doomed from the start, but atleast he told her finally. I have a feeling that Arab Woman will either kill her or get her fired. No, Dani is going to eventually get tired of the Arab Widow's attempt to ruin her life and call in Vic, who will then lay the smackdown on her and after some "friendly persuassion" will make her leave Dani alone... JasonX 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2003 I loved this episode... best of the season so far. I thought Vic was going to flip at Shane and Lemonhead when he found out what they did, but <Claudette... DAMN, she musta run out of her anti-bitch pills because she's on the warpath.> That's because (as stated on the Season 1 DVD commentaries) they are building up a Claudette/Vic showdown which is based upon the fact that Claudette and Vic's working relationship is based upon the fact that Claudette is the only cop in on the show that Vic actually respects/wants her respect and the fact that Claudette, while she respects Vic's ability to get results, deep down knows that he's evil and should be stopped... <I think that this up coming episode isn't just some random "we ran of idea's" flashback episode... there's a reason for this. Remember the discussion on why this only has 12/13 episodes? Because each one needs to count. I'm willing to bet money that we find out something deep about Claudette or someone else on the police squad... it just doesn't make sense otherwise.> My guess is that the whole purpose of the flashback episode is to retcon Vic's history to make him less evil and more of a good guy vigilante-type. The previews seem to make it look like Vic only became corrupt AFTER forming the Strike Team as well as hint that Reed Diamond's character was just as evil as Vic is.... Plus it's kind of a cool down...this was a real intense story they just closed the books on, maybe it's not a bad idea that they have a week that's a little lighter. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 27, 2003 Anyone know what song closed the last episode? It sounded Irish and fit the scenes perfect.

My guess is that there will come a time when the Arab woman is in trouble and Dani comes to the scene and lets the woman ger hers. After all, Dani's a racist, RIGHT?... Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 4, 2003 So what if this is just a bump in disguise. I don't wanna have to look for this thread later tonight. The Shield "Day One" tonight at 10PM on FX. (replay at 11PM) Looks like a great ep, and I still want to know what the song was at the end of the last episode, if anyone knows.
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 This doesn't really answer your question, but I just want to comment that the music they use for some of the ending montages are fucking perfect. I LOOOOOVED the use of Bawitdaba in the first episode and I remember they used Tantric's "Breakdown" somewhere...
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Yeah, and "Trouble" by Coldplay was just perfect for the last 4 minutes or so of season
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I LOOOOOVED the use of Bawitdaba in the first episode heh speaking of that...someone I know does the same type of job as the Strike Force(undercover, raids and all that stuff) and he says the team plays that on the way to their raids now. Oh and he also said their slogan around the office is "What would Vic do".
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I didn't like the Day One ep as much as I though I would, but it was good. And a good idea really, a cooldown after finishing off a big storyline, now it'll probably go to Vic vs Claudette (sp) for the rest of the season. I knew the men's room would go out on day one
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Geez and they still haven't fixed it. Tonight's episode felt more like what should have been the first episode than an episode clearly made to be seen at a later time. If felt like it was an episode they made and forgot to use. Unless it ties into something that's about to happen.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 5, 2003 After seeing the sneak peek for next week's show, I got the thinking: How many season do you guys think The Shield should last? I'm guessing around 3-4. I don't want this show to drag on life support and become a shell of its former self...
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I'd say 3 or 4 sounds likea good number. The show right off the bat shows some longevity (sp), but the kind of thing you wouldn't want to run into the ground.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I don't see how they will be able to drag it out to 3-4 seasons at the break neck pace the show goes at. How much more can Vic do before his life and career fall apart?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I would Say that 4 years is the perfect round up amount...This means 52 episodes. The Sopranos showed that going ONE season too long really hurts the show... I would Imagine Season two will finish off with the Claudette/Vic angle... I would love if Dutch became the focal point of Season Three and they left Vic to toil around the background and then Give the show BACK to Vic for the final season... LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Looks like Vic manages to piss everyone off next week. The running storyline this season has been the agreement between Acevedo and Vic and how it effects them and everyone else.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I am soundly Conviced that Acevedo is out by the season end either by Vic's enforcement or Political means... Which brings a problem in...Who becomes the New Guy? Obviously, Vic or Cluadette won't get that seat so likely it will be an new person...Do they go back to "At Heads" angle between Vic and the new boss or make it even closer "Alliance"? I wouldn't mind having a season COMPLETLY devoid of these political drug minded stuff and just have a "Relaxed" season where it's primarilly Comedy and Decective work... LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 This season seems to only be drug dealers. Where are the other criminals? Atleast when it comes to the people Vic is going after it's all drug lords. The first season had more variety in criminals. Like the child porn people and others.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 5, 2003 This season seems to only be drug dealers. Where are the other criminals? In all fairness Arm was not only a drug dealer, but a killer and a child rapist.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I thought he was in drug dealing too. Oh well. I was just nitpicking. I still think this is one of the best shows on TV. And I'm glad they aren't taking long breaks without new episodes like other shows are.

And I'm glad they aren't taking long breaks without new episodes like other shows are. Yeah, shows with short seasons like The Shield and Oz just run all the episodes they have straight week after week. While Buffy gets stretched out from September to May (I didn't mean for that to sound dirty)
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 5, 2003 U make a good point on the Drug Dealer...Sure, Arm was also an Murderer and Child rapist but they really only focused on his drug dealing side. I really don't get into the whole Drug Dealers bullshit...and I wish we could get more Domestic shit..
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 5, 2003 The season seems to be about the drug dealing because that's where the Strike Team makes their money. Nice episode.
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Well, the previews for next week show that they go back to Gilroy. He's probably the one that leads a team against Strike Force. I just want to know how this Money Train thing is going to work out...
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 5, 2003 BTW: How many more shows are on tap for the rest of this season? I'm too lazy to count...
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 5, 2003 4 by my count...I tape the shows on SLP and I have one tape filled up with 7 episodes (commercial free) and last night's was the 2nd episode on the 2nd tape. So 9 down, 4 to go.

Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted March 6, 2003 I had one HUGE problem with last night's DAY ONE episode. And that is, in The Shield's pilot it gives the impression that Vic and Aceveda are working together for the first time. I thought that no one at the Barn knew Aceveda but everyone had already worked with and respected Vic, regardless of his methods because of his track record of getting results. Which is why Claudette advised Aceveda to back off of Vic when he made it clear to her that he wanted to take Vic down. However, last night we see that Aceveda and Vic arrived at the Barn at the same time and Vic even said "Yes sir" to him at one point. I was like, "what happened to the 'I don't havta listen to you, not even on Cinco de Mayo!' Vic that I know?"
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted March 6, 2003 It was funnier to see Mackey and Shane in suits at the start though... that was a riot.
JasonX 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2003 <I am soundly Conviced that Acevedo is out by the season end either by Vic's enforcement or Political means...> I doubt that they will write Aceveda out of the show. Most likely the season will end with Aceveda pulling some sort of trick out of the blue to save Vic and himself but end up as a result just as dirty as Vic or even worse, giving Vic a hold over Aceveda beyond the current "I can embarrass you with my rough-house tactics if you piss me off" grip he has on him.... <Which brings a problem in...Who becomes the New Guy? Obviously, Vic or Cluadette won't get that seat so likely it will be an new person...Do they go back to "At Heads" angle between Vic and the new boss or make it even closer "Alliance"?> I stay that they keep Aceveda and Vic together because they have great chemistry and they've barely scratched the surface of the two working together...
