Guest Max Danger Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Here's what the animated series(or animated shorts) will be about, if you don't know: (I got this from http://www.aintitcool.com.) Cartoon Network and Lucasfilm Announce Star Wars Animated Shorts 20 Animated "Clone Wars" Serial Shorts to Appear on Cartoon Network in 2003-2004p Cartoon Network and Lucasfilm Ltd. announced today a partnership to create Star Wars: Clone Wars, a series of 20 animated shorts that will air on Cartoon Network in 2003-2004 between other programming. Star Wars: Clone Wars continues the saga where the live action feature film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones left off - at the beginning of the Clone Wars, an epic civil war that pits the old Republic against a vast separatist movement led by the forces of evil. Each episodic short will be two- to three-minutes in length and will air exclusively on Cartoon Network at regularly scheduled times during the network's regular programming beginning later this fall. Clone Wars will be produced at Cartoon Network Studios by a team led by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory. As Clone Wars unfolds the valiant Jedi Knights lead the Republic's Clone Army against many new and ruthless adversaries across the galaxy. These new characters, epic battles and intricate stories will add an exciting new dimension to the Star Wars saga. "We are incredibly excited to be working with Lucasfilm in creating an animated story that extends one of the world's most beloved entertainment properties," said Sam Register, senior vice president of development for Cartoon Network. "Cartoon Network's creative team will work hand-in-hand with Lucasfilm to make sure that our common vision for Clone Wars thrills Star Wars fans around the world." "Genndy Tartakovsky and the team at Cartoon Network are tops in their field," said Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing. "Their work on Samurai Jack shows that they can tell an epic story in a unique way, lavishing equal attention on dramatic battle scenes as well as the dramatic development of the characters." Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Samurai Jack is insanely cool. They do Samurai Jack with Star Wars, and it will be great.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 20, 2003 What's the appeal of Samurai Jack? I've tried to watch it, and I just can't get into it.
Guest RepoMan Report post Posted February 20, 2003 This is fucking stupid. A Star Wars cartoon is stupid enought (See Droids and Ewoks), but 3 minute shorts is just a cheap way to pop rating a little. The premise might be interesting, but for it to be decent it would require at least half an hour a show and the best quaility animation you can get for a TV show. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I was about to ask if the guy that makes Samurai Jack is making this. Yeah the show will look better than that picture.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted February 20, 2003 I couldn't get into Samurai Jack either, but I'm a huge Dexter's Laboratory fan. Something tells me it won't be patterned after that show though...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 20, 2003 argh...I haaate Dexter's Labortory. Samurai Jack is light years better than that seldomly funny crap.
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 20, 2003 What's the appeal of Samurai Jack? I've tried to watch it, and I just can't get into it. It's hard to explain, man. I would suggest watching the first episode if you can find it on kazaa or something. Might be because I'm into Kurosawa films like Yojimbo and Seven Samurai. I just really enjoyed the art style, the 'direction' (ie the different shots they used and whatnot), the excessively violent way he butchered all of those enemies in the first ep. *Shrugs* Maybe it's just not your kind of thing. The premise might be interesting, but for it to be decent it would require at least half an hour a show and the best quaility animation you can get for a TV show. If you thought those were bad, anyone check out the Holiday special from 78? It featured the debut of Bobba Fett and included the real voices of all the major players (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Vader, the droids, etc). But the animation was right up there with a PCP hallucination. Everyone looked like they had down syndrome. It's on Kazaa if anyone's interested.
