Alfred Molina Cast in ASM!

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Alfred Molina (Boogie Nights, Raiders of the Lost Ark) has been cast to play Doctor Octopus in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. It has alos been confirmed Doc Ock will be the ONLY villain for the piece.

 

Once again Raimi shows why he is a golden god by casting a talented character actor rather than a big-name celebrity. He also gets points for remembering why the Batman franchise failed.

I notice that they omit the fact that he got to bang Natasha Henstridge's character in Species...

 

And yeah, they mentioned that there would only be one MAIN villain, but having Harry Osborn start his heel turn wouldn't be a bad thing...

James Franco said Harry Osborn would be involved, and that he would be dealing with "some kind of angst" but that he wouldn't start down the dark path till a later movie.

You also have to look at Molina getting a lot of good notices for his work in Frida this past year. He's got some good critical buzz behind him at this time, if not popular support.

Whenever I think of Molina though, I think of Angel in Maverick.

 

But I like Maverick, and he knows how to play a bad guy. This is cool.
