O'Reilly to do segment on Hennig

Actually, Vern, yes.

I'll look it up if need-be, but I remember seeing a quote about it.

I consider Colmes a true moderate. Donahue's blue eyes are pretty cool.

Now if Colmes was a moderate, why would Fox put him on a debate-format show with Sean Hannity - who happens to be a strong conservative? The basis for the show is that they aren't supposed to agree on much.

Conflict = ratings

He does consider himself a moderate, no matter how you look at it.

He said it himself, and if you believe O'Reilly's stuff about being a moderate, you have to believe his as well.

lol Well I've heard O'Reilly call himself such, haven't heard the same first hand from Colmes.

Not saying it's not true, I would just think Fox would look to find a stronger liberal to match with Hannity.

You'd think so, Cawthon.

And Vern, common sense says Hannity is a conservative. I'd be shocked if he said he was moderate.

In a 1995 interview with USA Today, Colmes said he is "quite moderate."

Although a liberal pundit dragged him over the coals for this and then had an arguement with Colmes where Colmes explains his comment as "My statement to USA today was that even though most people think I'm way over on the left, I view myself as moderate."

Tyler. I was joking.

Viewing yourself a moderate doesn't always make you one. He might or might not be, either way it's not that big a deal.

I think it's obvious their goal is to make Hannity look better. But remember, I don't like or respect Fox News.

I would like to applaud those here who have criticized O'Reilly for VALID reasons, such as his debating style, etc.

Unlike Dreamer here.

Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just think it's so much bullshit when people shit on O'Reilly or Fox News, and the answer to the question "Why do you dislike either of them?" is almost always tied in to politics.

I find it ironic that you chastise Bill for being too far to the Right, and then profess your desire to watch Donahue.

Of course it is about politics. I don't like the right-wing, I've said that many times. I sympathize with the left and support their ideals but I don't think I'm truly commited enough to be a liberal. Plus, once you become a liberal or conservative people think you only believe in that idealogy and start to stereotype you. I don't want to be tied down to one philosophy; even if I do like it. I want to change and grow, and develop new thoughts on certain issues. I like Phil.

He seems like a nice guy. I do agree with most of his policies, but am not his biggest fan or anything. If you want non-political reasons, I think O'Reilly is a jerk. A bully, as it were. Not to mention I consider him an egomaniac. Non-political reasons right there, more like social opinions. Yes, I do dislike a lot of conservatives. But I've also met conservatives who were pretty cool, and didn't do the things the left sometimes accuses them of (bible-thumping, gay bashing, ect).

I too am guilty of generalizing them. But I don't know how to deal with my anger properly. When I see someone like Hannity, Coulter, or Savage slandering liberals RIGHT ON THEIR COVER it makes me mad. I wish in my mind that the world wasn't like this. I want them to hurt for making me mad. Textbook stuff. But would getting mad at them be letting them win? Or is there some other way?

I honestly don't know of any conservatives that I back that do bible-thump or bash gays and / or minorities. Especially not any on Fox News like O'Reilly or Hannity.

The religious right does step over its boundaries quite often. I remember back in 99-00 when McCain and Bush were neck-and-neck. McCain called out the religious right and said what they preached was trash. I respected him a lot for doing that when so many others wouldn't. He caught some backlash from that within the party and maybe that's what lead to his defeat (I would have much preferred to have McCain win the primary at the time).

As far as the book covers, all they're saying is "don't give in to the dark side". lol jk

Yeah, during that time people would get phone messages asking if the person knew that the opposing candidate hadn't accepted Jesus as their savior. I thought that stuff was pretty low. I've always supported McCain because he isn't a shill for his party. I wish we had more moderate and liberal Republicans. I think O'Reilly is a little subtle about his religious beliefs, but he does put them in there. He even thinks gays shouldn't kiss in public (which I consider pretty stupid of him).

I think the main reason anybody on the left likes McCain is because he bashed Bush.

Fact is, the guy is a ticking time bomb. Republicans have never had a great deal of use for him and his campaign finance bill is the biggest assault on the First Amendment since --- well, I suppose the Alien & Sedition Acts.

As for gays not kissing in public, I don't think they should, either.

-=Mike --- and, no, I don't think straight couples shoud do it, either.

I tend to avoid watching shows like the aforementioned ones because I hate politics in general.

As for O'Reilly, he reminds of that kid in high school who always thought he was the shit, and you were just waiting for someone to kick his ass.

He's more of a moderate than O'Reilly. I know for a fact that he doesn't like being called a liberal.

You're probably right there. But remember, not all Republicans are conservatives (just as not all Democrats are liberals). I lean to the left quite a bit and my favorite President was the founder and member of the GOP. Of course liberals like him because he bashes Bush. Like Tom always says, "The enemy of the enemy is my friend." He also boycotted Fox News because it was too conservative. The guy has huge balls to stand up to the conservatives in his party. Hopefully others will follow his lead and the strangle-hold conservatives have on the GOP will vanish. About the whole "kissing in public" thing--no one will be able to stop it... ever.

People (both gay and straight) will forever kiss in public. There may be less public kissing, but it will always happen.
