Doesn't Royal Rumble usually have one of the highest buyrates though? I know I get excited for Royal Rumble just for the Royal Rumble. The actual match itself deserves a lot of credit too.

1. Lesnar/Heyman saga

2. HHH/Steiner

3. Angle/Benoit

4. Y2J/HBK

5. Undertaker return

I love how you state that as fact. Anyways, I think people buy the PPV for the actual match, not the people in it. And you can't say that people bought the Rumble for Brock if they didn't even know for sure that he was in the Rumble.

I'll be curious to see what No Way Out does in terms of PPV buys. You've got the PPV returns of Austin, Rock AND Hogan all in one show.

 

This show is normally a sacrificial lamb and there really isn't a single actual match that I can't wait to see, but nonetheless, I can see this month drawing some serious bank.

They never release the numbers of bad PPVs.

 

A good guess for the non showcase shows would probably be in the range of 0.3-0.6

Aside from this number for RR 2003, the last estimate I heard about was KOTR 2002, which was around a sad 0.6. Judgment Day did around a 0.7 and Backlash did a 0.8 (this number is confirmed).

There's a large portion that tunes in just for the rumble, whichis to be expected. This time of the year is really the time where people start tuning in again and hopefully they can capitalize on that.

Mullato Heat is dead on. Meltzer will occasionally post estimates for PPVs but, if asked, will provide numbers on buyrates that were less than spectacular. That's where the last set of numbers came from that were in the .6-.7 range.

1) If you're going to make dumb-ass remarks (like saying that I'm not intelligent), put it in the NHB. Don't argue with personal attacks.

 

2) It wasn't a "foregone conclusion" to marks (who are the main people buying the ppvs) that Brock was going to win. Show was built up very well, and it seemed quite plausable that he could of won, especially with Paul Heyman in his corner.

 

3) It's fine to be confident about thinking that 100 000 people bought the ppv just for the Rumble, but presenting it as fact can be misleading.

The focus of this ppv was that awful HHH/Steiner feud, people believed too much in the hype thinking that big steroided body equals great worker.
