Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 22, 2003 I recently won an auction for Slamboree 97 despite knowing nothing about the quality of the card. So... What am I in for?
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2003 I liked it. Then again, I liked the entire year of 97 in regards to WCW. Let's see... Flair's first match back since September 96, in his hometown of Charlotte. Very hot crowd for the main event of Flair / Piper / Greene vs. the Wolfpac. Regal retakes the TV title from Ultimo Dragon in front of a very pro-Regal crowd (thought you might like that one). Jarrett vs. Malenko in a very good bout for the U.S. title. More buildup in the DDP / Savage feud which led to their GAB 97 bout. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. a Japanese wrestler I'm not familiar with. Good match. Chris Benoit vs. Meng in a complete brawl. And Benoit could make Meng look like gold. The Steiners vs. Konnan & Hugh Morrus as Rick & Scott continue chasing a title shot.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 22, 2003 That's cool- I bid on it because it was relatively cheap and I'm always looking for new tapes. Sounds like a fun show- I always love a pro-Regal crowd
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted February 22, 2003 On a related note, I just bought WWF: Supertape 3 off of eBay for $3.50. I just KNOW that it will suck. Although I did get the "One Night Only" VHS from the same seller for the SAME PRICE, so that makes up for the 1st purchase.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2003 On a related note, I just bought WWF: Supertape 3 off of eBay for $3.50. I just KNOW that it will suck. I have that at home. Just checked the match listing. It's not that bad for the times - especially what you're paying for it. There are two Mr. Perfect bouts on there - one against Von Erich in Toronto and another against Jake the Snake.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted February 22, 2003 If I may inquire - what else is on there? I've used search engines, and not one has turned up even a match listing of this tape. All I know is, there's a LOD featurette. EDIT: Thanks Bob.
