Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 22, 2003 Recently my Kazaa wasn't working and so I redownloaded it and it still isn't connecting. My school asked us to delete it a while ago and no one did so I think they somehow deleted it. Anywho- anyway I can get around this so I can use kazaa?? Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 22, 2003 I'm guessing your school has a LAN. Did you try using a proxy server? If that doesn't work you might have to go dial-up if you want to use it.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 22, 2003 What's a proxy server? Sorry- I'm not very computer literate. I can't use dialup since it's a college internet service
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 22, 2003 I'm not exactly sure what it is, but whenever my school would block things I was told to put in a proxy server and I could bypass what the school was blocking. Right click IE and go to Properties, then click the connections tab and then click LAN settings, after that click the "use a proxy server for your LAN" box. Just for example (it doesn't work anymore) the address I used to use was www.proxy.ozemail.com.au and then it was port 8080. The hardest part will be finding a proxy address that actually works. If you use dial-up you'd have to use AOL or something like that. Dial-up will for sure work because you won't be using your school's servers and then they'll have no control. The only problem is going back to 56k. EDIT - If you've got any computer nerd friends they should know of some proxy servers that work, or at least know of some websites that have a list. Guest TheGame2705 Report post Posted February 22, 2003 A proxy just basically means a substitute. So you're no longer even on your school's server anymore. Port 1212 I hear works for good Kazaa when using proxy connections.
