Guest JHawk Report post Posted March 18, 2002 OK guys, I thought I'd try my hand at booking. For the sake of argument, let's say WrestleMania X8 ended as it did and Vince finally kicked Steph off the team and replaced her with me. Please note: I am fully well aware that this lineup may be well over two hours if in practice, but let's assume we're doing things "realistically" and "unscheduled matches" are possibly pushing the show past the scheduled time. Like a baseball game entering extra innings. It should be pretty safe to see what I was trying to accomplish here, but feedback (good and bad) is appreciated. Remember it's a first effort and I'm trying to make it as seamless from the current direction as possible while trying to improve it. Raw (3/18/2002) Live from the Molson Centre (Montreal, Quebec) Segment 1 Opening montage of WrestleMania X8 highlights features HHH's title victory and the Hogan face turn. Opening. Earlier tonight, the WWF Board of Directors revisited their vote of confidence, and we'll see highlights Thursday on Smackdown. Also: Triple H is in the house! WWF Cruiserweight Title: Tajiri © vs. The Hurricane Tazz/Spike Dudley vs. The APA Top Contenders Triple Threat Match: Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle vs. Booker T Opening interview: Hulk Hogan Hogan puts over the 68,000 at the SkyDome and The Rock's performance, then begins to announce his retirement when the Outsiders make their appearance. They berate Hogan for his loss and for not standing up for what the nWo stands for. Hall challenges Hogan for Backlash, which is accepted. Hogan then does the "why wait for Backlash" spiel, which brings in the 2-on-1 before The Rock makes the save. Rock asks for a tag match later, which is accepted. Segment 2 Triple H arrives in a limo, and as he steps out, Chris Jericho runs in and slams the door on Triple H's knee. HHH clutches his leg in agony. 20 minute time limit for the WWF Cruiserweight Title: The Hurricane (w/Mighty Molly) vs. Tajiri (w/Torrie Wilson) A back and forth match, as both men put on a clinic of technical wrestling and high spots. After the obligatory catfight, Tajiri goes for a kick to the head, but Hurricane ducks and takes Tajiri down with the Eye of the Hurricane for two. Panicking, Hurricane tries for an Asai moonsault, hooks the tights, and gets the pin and the Cruiserweight Title at 10:34. ***1/4 JR questions the use of the tights, calling it conduct unbecoming of a superhero. Segment 3 Chris Jericho interview Short version: As former champion, Jericho can request a rematch within 30 days and wants it tonight. JR asks how HHH can be 100 percent with his knee being slammed in the limo. Segment 4 10 minute time limit: The Big Show vs. Billy Kidman Kidman's first WWF match in months. Standard big man vs. little man match, with Show no-selling anything not aerially based and falling for solidly placed dropkicks. Finally, Show goes for the Choke Slam, but Kidman wiggles around until be shocks Show into a modified sunset flip for the pin in 9:48. Scott Keith calls it way too long for that finish. -1/2* Segment 5 Recap of Regal vs. RVD from Mania. 10 minute time limit: William Regal vs. Edge This one is not about shampoo. Regal attacks before the bell and maintains the advantage. Regal goes for an abdominal stretch, but Edge reverses it. The bell rings, and the crowd erupts until the decision is annouced--a 10:00 draw. Huge "bullshit" chant for that one. *1/2 Segment 6 Two out of three falls with a 30 minute time limit: Tazz/Spike Dudley vs. The APA JR puts over the best of three stip while Lawler thinks it's Mr. MaMahon's way of punishing us. First fall: Back and forth fall, which ends with Spike going for the Dudley Dawg on Bradshaw, who throws him off and levels him with the Clothesline from #### for the pin in 7:25. Second Fall: Quick fall, as Bradshaw goes for the Clothesline from #### again, but Tazz catches him with a chair behind Nick Patrick's back and Spike covers for the pin at 1:08. Third fall: Another short fall, as Tazz and Spike double team Bradshaw. While Nick Patrick gets Tazz out of the ring, Farrooq takes Spike down with the Dominator. Spike staggers to his feet before being finished off by a Clothesline from #### in 2:11. 3/4* Segment 7 Maven interview Maven is being interviewed by Coach about WrestleMania, and while he discusses his win over Christian, Raven returns, hitting Maven with a stop sign and covering while Teddy Long makes the three count. A look at HHH getting his knee taped up. Segment 8 Highlights of Undertaker-Flair and Hall-Austin The Outsiders vs. Hulk Hogan/The Rock Hogan comes out in the red and yellow and to "Real American". Hall and Rock start, but Nash soon knees Rock in the back to make him face-in-peril. After several close calls, Rock finally tags Hogan, who cleans house. Tag to Rock. Rock goes to Rock Bottom Hall, but Nash saves. Hogan saves Rock and goes to clothesline Hall, but he moves and Hogan hits the Rock. Nash sends Hogan to the floor, and Hall hits The Rock with the Edge for the pin in 12:44. Hideous match but the crowd's into it. DUD Nash sets Rock up for a Jackknife, but Hogan saves with a chair. Hogan helps Rock to his feet but is Rock Bottomed. Nash tosses Rock an nWo shirt, which Rock puts on as fans throw garbage into the ring. Segment 9 Top Contenders Triple Threat Match: Kurt Angle vs. Booker T vs. Steve Austin: Winner gets the shot at Backlash. Typical three way. Austin clotheslines Booker T out the ring, and Angle comes from behind and takes Austin down with the Angle Slam for the pin at 7:20! ** Segment 10 Coach tries to ask Rock about joining the nWo, but gets blown off. Angle celebrates his win over Austin and bumps into Triple H, who is limping to the gorilla position. Angle makes a comment about HHH's knee and gets hit with the belt for his trouble. Segment 11 Undisputed WWF Title: Chris Jericho vs. Triple H © Pretty standard work. No Stephanie, BTW. Hunter has his knee worked on for about 8 minutes, but finally makes his comeback. Pedigree, but the landing hurts Hunter's leg. Angle comes down and enters the ring. Jericho distracts Earl Hebner, which enables Angle to hit Hunter in the knee with the WCW belt. Vince McMahon runs like #### to the ring and yells at Angle. In the ring, Jericho with the Walls of Jericho, and then... RING THE FUCKING BELL! It's Montreal again...in Montreal. Jericho is handed the belt by Vince in 10:58. The crowd is livid until Ric Flair runs out and asks for Hebner to continue the match. The bell rings. A livid Jericho spits at Flair, who punches Jericho into a HHH rollup. Hebner makes the count, and HHH retains (regains?) the title at :58 of the restart. Vince and Flair argue with each other over the finish. * JR wonders who the champion is and what this means for today's Board of Directors meetings as we fade out. Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted March 19, 2002 Interesting. I like the use of Hurricane and Kidman. Not sure we really need Edge v Regal again though.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted March 19, 2002 In another promotion, that would have worked, but this is the WWF we are talkin about
Guest Report post Posted March 19, 2002 if Rock turns on Hogan, it certainly would be the last segement in the show...Big Show/Kidman?? Tajiri vs Hurricane?? Triple H vs Jericho the night after a PPV diminishes Triple H's win, furthering the mis handling of his return...And another Montreal finish? Haven't we seen enough?I'd give it a 3 out of 10.
