Guest Downhome Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Almost all of my movies/video are around 700MB and the such, so I'm just currious about this. Is there a way to zip them, compress them, or ANYTHING so that I can still keep them on my computer, yet make them not take up as much space on my computer. I know how to work WinZip, but it didn't really make it all that small, if ANY smaller. Please, help me once again, lol. Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Eagan469 Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 files good for compression (Winzip, WinACE) include: Uncompressed Movie files (MPEG/Real/Quicktime) Uncompressed AVI files (not using DivX/xVid) Uncompressed WAV files/CD Audio tracks executables/programs graphics files Text Documents
Guest Eagan469 Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Yeah, if you have a 750 MB DivX AVI movie, it won't compress much further because the movie has already been compressed so much when encoded to DivX. Same goes for MP3's, which are just WAV files with all the unneeded data parts removed so that the song is only a percentage of what it would be as a CD track.
Guest Downhome Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 So in other words, I can't make what I have smaller eh?
Guest razazteca Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 so trying to compress the file using Zip, Ace, RAR would be useless?
