Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted February 23, 2003 Ok, here's my tale of woe and then happiness. About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I heard "Girl's Not Grey". I admit, I was somewhat distraught. The single was nothing like I had ever heard before from AFI. It was weak, pop-oriented, and didn't sound like them at all. I feared the worst...could AFI, the premier Dark (goth?) Punk band in the world have finally gone soft? Then I downloaded Sing the Sorrow. And I'm amazed. Simply amazed. The band that started off with "Answer That and Stay Fashionable" has matured into something I'd never thought I'd hear from them, ever. The album is crisp, dark, angry, and shows a very big musical maturity by the band (heck, there's even a SOLO in one track). I'm definitely going to be picking this up, even though I've downloaded it. I've got to support it. Its such an awesome listen. Not one track is subpar, except for the radio-friendly single. 5/5. Saw them for the second time the other week, and they were damn good but I just wasn't in the mood for it, and now they are popular enough to attract a FUCKING BUNCH OF TWATS to their gigs I'm gonna get turned off them.
