Guest mickberna Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Scott was in two craptacular matches on two consecutive PPV's, with the crowds gradually turning against him, until tonight when the audience farted on his every move and gave him a "boring" chant. It was beautiful. I think the crowd understood that it was Steiner who was dragging these matches to an unwatchable level. However, does Vince understand? I say that since he jobbed to HHH relatively clean and has no other feuds in the works, the writers simply forget he exists, nobody ever mentions him on TV again, and he goes back to working the indys until he's dead. Thoughts?

Something along those lines. The WWF knew they had a limited time frame that Steiner would be useful, so they put him in the ME right away. The problem was/is that Steiner has no usefulness anymore. His legs are almost useless, and he's so musclebound that his mobility is very limited. They got 4 months of use out of him, they should quit before they do anymore damage. Besides after the Rumble he was basically buried.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted February 24, 2003 He's only been with two opponents in reasonable matches.......HHH and Jericho. With Jericho he looks halfway decent, with HHH he looked just fucking awful. A major part of making a match happen is that your opponent is supposed to help you, and HHH hasn't done much of that for a variety of reasons. I'm not blaming this all on HHH though, but some of it has to go his way judging and comparing by the Jericho match. Steiner clearly needs to be carried.......thats not up for arguing. But just because he looked like shit in there with Hunter doesn't mean he's finished. How many guys have even pulled a *** match with HHH since the injury? Think about it. I think he obviously needs to go heel and now. They should have done this right off the bat, IMO. Take it from there and see what happens. It's not soon enough to totally give up on him though. Guest Space_Cowboy Report post Posted February 24, 2003 He's obviously tanking, so either turn him heel and hope to revitalise him or just job him out to the likes of Booker and Jericho or anyone else of potential future use.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted February 24, 2003 He's obviously tanking, so either turn him heel and hope to revitalise him or just job him out to the likes of Booker and Jericho or anyone else of potential future use. Yeah I would give him a chance as a heel.......at LEAST until after Mania (this is assuming they would turn him like tomorrow already). See what happens if he was in there with a more solid worker for one thing too. Then if he still is a no-go, just do some quick high profile jobs and send him packin
Guest Downhome Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Where did Buff and Kronik go? Yeah, he goes there. Oh my God, and I am not lying... ...I totally, 100%, forgot that Kronik was even ever in WWE as a tag team. I say Steiner will either be fired, or will turn heel. I'm sure Vince just might hear those boo's and think of them as a good thing.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 24, 2003 They should send him packing already. And HHH is actually not THAT bad of a worker, but the guy needs to obviously put over his opponent a bit better. His workrate is still above-average, again THIS GUY WAS FUCKING AWESOME in 2000-2001 until the quad tear. And it's odd that Steiner's last good match was against Booker T on the last Nitro. That was around ***, on a bad, broken leg no less. But it's all that time off as well as not really doing too much in the way of learning how to work a match again that's killed his career off for good. Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 24, 2003 I still say that Steiner/Hunter 2 was ten fold Steiner/Hunter 1.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted February 24, 2003 I think HHH needs to go in there with someone like an Austin, Rocky, Benoit, Eddy, Angle, or hell even a TAKA, and then we can really say how great a shape he's in.

Untill I really started to think about stuff I'd forgotten about just now, I totally forgot that Mr. Hughs was ever in WWE being a bodyguard for Chris Jericho. Guest Army Eye Report post Posted February 24, 2003 He still gets good reactions on the TV shows, even though he's basically been buried on TV since the Rumble. It's not time to put Steiner out to pasture yet. He SHOULD be a heel, but he can still be a good face for a while too. Just keep his matches 10 minutes or so at the most and apply liberal doses of overbooking. It's good that he's now out of the program with HHH, as HHH takes a lot of pride in working long PPV matches. He's one of those guys whose moveset does not lend itself well to working as a face AT ALL. That only is making his matches even more awkward. He had some very watchable matches in WCW as a heel champion, even some longish ones, but he seems to be even less mobile and his cardio is clearly worse. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 24, 2003 What will turning Steiner heel accomplish? He's not getting Jericho or Angle heel heat, he's getting X-Pac Get out of the ring we don't like you heel heat.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted February 24, 2003 He's only gotten that heat in two matches with HHH though, thats why its too early to give up on him.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted February 24, 2003 And? He's not SUPPOSED to be getting heel heat yet. He's a face. We know he can get heel heat from his WCW work. He has only gotten "get out of the ring heat" when working long PPV matches. Take that part out of the equation.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 24, 2003 It's a Tricky situation...The fans like the Character, Not the wrestler. Simple as that...An Heel turn might be the wisest, since Steiner has always been a better Heel since going Roid crazy. Then we come to another problem, who do we pair him up with? Booker? There IS a history but Booker is busy with Evoultion... HBK? Got Jericho. Kane? RVD? Some sort of program already happening... whose left? Test? Jeff? Goldust? Kind of a limited roster of faces here...
Guest Caliban Report post Posted February 24, 2003 HHH/Steiner 2 wasn't as bad as the Rumble. I just think they need to turn Steiner heel. He's just not a babyface character at all. Maybe they'll do an "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" angle with Steiner and Evolution.
Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted February 24, 2003 HGH showed how 'great' he is by having yet another craptacular match with Scott Dianabol. Worst feud of the year candidate easily. And it may not be over yet. With a less than clean pinfall, you can see they still have notions of yet another match between two overdeveloped 'roid boys. Guest jester Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Steiner's won't make a good heel. He doesn't have any credible offense. He sure as hell can't carry anyone (Could you imagine Steiner/RVD? Shudder). This is one of the biggest wastes of money WWE has ever done. Steiner's only use is for HHHaters. He is going to drag HHH down if they keep the two together. Personally, I want to see Steiner/HHH 3. Maybe in a best of three falls at Wrestlemania so the boring chants can be heard across the country.

Guest JMA Report post Posted February 24, 2003 My prediction: He'll be back in TNA or WWA in less than a month. Then Vince will bring in Goldberg for about five months before letting him go as well. After that they'll continue to hire back former workers; desparate to recapture the former magic they had. After they all fail (which they will) Vince will revert back to stupid gimmicks (think circa 1994) and steal ideas (and workers) from TNA. Man, Vince has become what he hated the most: a billionaire who can't create new stars. He's become Ted Turner, only worse. At least Turner had the excuse of not knowing much about wrestling (even though he was a fan) while Vince grew up around the business. Maybe we should start calling him Billionaire Vince.
