Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted February 24, 2003 I've been wondering why MTV and other music stations like VH1 haven't been covering the Great White story. Nothing but a quick 1 minute clip of the accident, No tribute or donations to the victims families, nothing. All these faggots care about is sucking these boy Bands and Pop Stars dicks and Ego's. That little faggot in the Backstreet Boys gets into an argument with some woman and almost got his ass whooped last year in a Night Club and MTV covers it for 4 months. I won't get going on all the Justin/Britney/J'Lo Garbage they spit out every day as "NEWS." But when actual MUSIC news comes out they ignore it? The Night club accident is one of the worst tragedies in Music history and Nothing? Fuck these Fuckers! Anyway, I went off Ranting here a little, but the point to this post was to let you guys read this "Article" on Metal Sludge about MTV ignoring this Tragedy. Fuck MTV
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Sad but true. I've had the same argument with the fuckwads at work. Yes, Jam Master Jay was an influential person in music, yes he inspired some of today's acts, but what about those who inspired the rock acts? I don't remember a Layne Staley special when he died. They played Alice in Chains videos on MTV2 for a few hours, but no special about the great grunge band. Jam Master Jay got an hour special. I hate MTV. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted February 24, 2003 face it... hair bands aren't cool... even though when 80+ people died at Great White it shouldn't be ignored... but if 80+ people died at a Limp Bizkit, Eminem show...then we see tributes...
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Fuck MTV Fuck Justin Timberlake Fuck Rap (That's all they play now) Fuck Avril (Havent seen her lately, Thank God!) Fuck VH1* *Although there is a late night show, where they play old rock music videos. AC/DC seems to be a weekly staple.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Fuck Justin Timberlake. That's about all I agree with. (plotting his murder)
Guest notJames Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Do either VH1 or MTV still play videos? I avoid them both, since popular music is shit right now, but every once in a while, I'll channel surf and see yet another reality show or "Behind the Music" show on those stations. I've pretty much given up on mainstream music in all its forms, and these two channels are a big reason why.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 24, 2003 It's all true. I doubt Metal Sludge saying anything will mean anything, but it was good for someone to say what everyone is thinking. MTV has been dead to most music fans (not just rock) for years now.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Fuck Justin Timberlake. That's about all I agree with. (plotting his murder) ::Arranges to meet with Kotzenjunge:: By the way, that TV show I mentioned comes out on Saturday mornings, @ 2 in the morning.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Nobody in the world gave half a crap about Great White until this happened. MTV's not going to run a special on the band for one thing, and probably not going to deal with the issue of concert safety while the major networks are still running all over it. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of MTV News special on concert tragedies within the month. MTV will honor what sells. This is nothing new and really shouldn't come as a shock. The article is also pretty immature for trying to get across a serious message, but that's neither here nor there.

Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted February 24, 2003 Ahh...most music networks are garbage anyways. Unless the show a block of soulful and underground joints. *plots to destroy the media execs who demand more news about Jennifer Lopez*
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 24, 2003 I want to kill Justin Timberlake just because of his grabbiness around Kylie, that's all. Nothing to do with MTV. I love MTV. I'd die without my Clone High USA and Taildaters.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 25, 2003 Why should VH1 or MTV be expected to give in depth coverage to the stuff in Rhode Island? Them giving short recaps to let people know what happened is all that should be EXPECTED. In depth coverage of the stuff in Rhode Island belongs on news channels not music channels. Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted February 25, 2003 I want to kill Justin Timberlake just because of his grabbiness around Kylie, that's all. Nothing to do with MTV. I love MTV. I'd die without my Clone High USA and Taildaters. Justin is king. You know you admire his ass-grabbing skills. He had to do something to liven up the shittier then hell Brit awards. Justin is pimptastic.

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted February 25, 2003 I'm shocked not just that MTV didn't even mention this (I mean 90-something people died and by mentioning it, and going into detail about why it happened, it would probably help concert-goers and venues prevent a similar tragedy in the future), but that Metal Sludge seems to be advocating a Great White tribute that'd be seen as nothing other than taking advantage of the tragedy for cheap press. Unless that was in jest.
