Guest EQ Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Have any of you guys used Nero under Windows XP? I just downloaded the newest version, and it isn't reckognizing my CD Burner. I'm using an HP cd-writer (8200 series, external). Has anyone had the same problem? If so, how did you fix it. Can anyone recommend an alternate burning software? I like Nero the best, but if I can't fix this, I'll need to get something else.
Guest Lethargic Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I use it with XP and I've had no problems. Do you have more than one burning programs? I do think I had to uninstall the standard burning program that came with the computer before using Nero because they conflicted.
Guest DrTom Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I use version 5.5 with XP, and have had no problems. The 8200 series is a few years old, IIRC, so maybe that's the issue. Is it a USB drive or parallel?
Guest razazteca Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I have the 9100 series and that is at least 3 years old. Have tried looking for new drivers or a flash updated for the drive?
Guest EQ Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 It's connects via USB, and I did download new drivers of HP.com, but Windows won't let me update them!
Guest DrTom Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 How is it preventing you from updating them? If it's some kind of digital signature thing, one click usually gets you past that.
Guest EQ Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 It just tells me that the existing drivers are more suitable for the burner than the new ones I downloaded.
Guest Crux Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I had problems with Nero...Im not really technical, so all I know is that it didnt work, thus ending with deletion.
Guest DrTom Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 If you can borrow a CD-R drive from someone for a day, try that one and see if you get the same problems. I know several people who have gotten Nero 5.5 to work flawlessly with XP, but we all have internal drives that are fairly new.
Guest EQ Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Well, I'm on a laptop, so I can't go for an internal drive. I don't know anyone else with an external. I think I'll just partition my drive and put windows 2000 on there just for burning. It's a waste, I know... but Nero really is the best burning software, and the HP software I downloaded sucks balls.
Guest TheGame2705 Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Windows Update has a fix for a bug that causes CD burner problems on some machines using XP. Download it and then try.
Guest JMTapes Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 I use it with XP and I've had no problems. Do you have more than one burning programs? I do think I had to uninstall the standard burning program that came with the computer before using Nero because they conflicted. I didn't have to do this. Nero had no problems with Roxio, which was already on there. -JM
