It seems Houston has landed the King of the Ring PPV in June. There was an advertisement in the Chronicle today. This is said to be one of the last events ever in the Compaq Center before they build the new arena.

Yeah also saw it in Ken Hoffman's column today. I'm hoping to get a friend or 2 together and get tickets but I ain't holding my breath. Anyone who does get to go, a hearty  to you. At least, that's for if I don't get to go. If I DO, I'll see you there .

I'm going along with my brother and possibly my boss and her boyfriend....if you go to a Wharehouse Music you will be able to get tickets. Those have Ticketmasters in them and they can access the information quickley and ring you up quickley.

They're getting rid of the Compaq Center? I thought it was a new arena, or did they just rename the Summit the Compaq Center?

They re named it....but now since there is no more Compaq and The Rockets bitching about a new arena, the city caved.

I WOULD buy tickets and travel for the show, but this is supposedly the first RAW-only PPV and I'm not taking chances.

Maybe I'll get lucky and someplace else within a reasonable distance (New Orleans, Dallas, Jackson MS, Biloxi, Jacksonville, Pensacola, etc.) will get one in the next several months.

Wouldn't they definitively acknowledge this- at least in Houston- when the tickets go on sale? I mean, I know they always say "Card is subject to change," but eliminating HALF THE TALENT that would appear on the PPV is a little bit of a stretch.

Actually the Compaq Center (I still call it The Summit) is going to be converted into a satellite worship center for Lakewood Church once the Rockets head to their new downtown palace. They finished the deal about a month ago after like 2 years of negotiating.

Well I can afford to get tickets but I work Sundays and they're a pain in the ass to get off. I'd make the effort if I knew it would be a good show and had a group to go with, but I'll probably just forget about it. We'll see.

This is the WWE you're talking about... they advertise Rock, Austin, Hogan, and Triple H on shows when they KNOW they either won't be there or won't wrestle.

I also know that for a house show in Cleveland a couple years ago, when The Rock and Chris Jericho were advertised, but didn't show up, they offered a refund to anyone in the arena that wanted it immediately after the intermission.

They refused to offer refunds in MSG several weeks back where they pulled a last-minute switch and had Brock in a gauntlet match against Team Angle instead of the announced Brock-Trips match.

Buy tickets at your own risk.

They also pissed off a lot of Australian fans by advertising Hogan for the Global Warning show in the summer and him not showing up.

(Looking last two posts)

Wow, THAT'LL send 'em home happy. Bet those people CAN'T WAIT to come to the next show after debacles like that. No wonder this company is going down the shitter.

I believe it's June 15th if my sleep deprived brain remembers the column mention correctly. Usually tickets go on sale a month to a month and a half in advance IIRC, but that varies. There should be a bunch of radio ads about it leading up to the beginning of ticket sales though.
