Guest MrRant Report post Posted February 26, 2003 PITTSBURGH (Reuters) - A male truck driver posed as a young woman for three years while pursuing a sexually explicit e-mail relationship with an adolescent girl, police said on Tuesday. Norman Rickley, 39, of Cranberry, Pennsylvania, allegedly sent e-mails to his young victim describing himself as a 19-year-old woman, who along with her sisters, was supposedly having an incestuous relationship with their father. The girl, identified as a 16-year-old from Ripley, West Virginia, was only 13 when Rickley first made contact with her in an Internet chat room, state police said. In the course of the dozens of e-mails that followed, he allegedly promised her that he would pay her family $15,000 if she agreed to leave home and move in with his "family." "He had a job. He was able to function in society. But he told me it was hard for him to talk to women, and hiding behind the guise of a young woman was his way of talking to them," said Pennsylvania State Trooper Glenn Bard, the arresting officer in the case. Rickley was charged with several felony counts, including child sexual abuse and child pornography.
