Huey Lewis and the News

I was watching that VH1 "I Love the 80's" thing, and I noticed that they tried to play Huey Lewis off as a joke like Cyndi Lauper or some such.

WHAT THE FUCK!

"Sports" and "Fore" are still listenable today which is more than you can say for about 90% of all popular albums from the 80's. (And I LIKE New Wave.)

FUCK VH1, I've hated them ever since they said the Tom-Tom Club's one hit was as influencial as anything the Talking Heads had done.

No, they're right. Huey Lewis and The News are a joke. Not a very funny one, either.

I have to side with Zsasz on this one. While Huey and the News are far from the most cerebreal and artistic, their music is still very enjoyable to me.

Anyone remember at MTV's 20th Anniversary special in New York -

That bald-headed guy was interviewing Huey, and the interviewer COMPLETELY blows him off to talk to this heavy metal guy.

I was so pissed, and Huey looked just as pissed too.

Ian Robinson (The fat bald dude from MTV) is a fat piece of shit.

When you're music is endorsed by a fictional serial killer; you did something right.

I'm glad you reminded me, Zsasz. Giving Patrick Bateman the opportunity to go on that tangent is quite possibly the only reason to not wish that Huey Lewis and The News never existed. I saw them in concert years ago, believe it or not. It was a harrowing experience. They just wouldn't stop playing.

I never wanna see Huey Lewis mentioned in the same post as Talking Heads again, unless it is to say "Of all the bands to score big hits in the 80s, Huey Lewis and the News were among the countless shitty ones, while Talking Heads were among the select best."

That said, I harbor no grudge against Mr. Lewis and his News, as I do not hold a deep-seated grudge against the music my parents enjoy, unlike Mr. Kinetic. It may suck, but there are other acts far more worthy of my vitriol.

Huey Lewis and the News. The men who, in "The Heart Of Rock And Roll," do the "It's really gonna kick your--" followed by a 4-tap drum fill so they don't have to say "ass."

I like "Power Of Love" simply because of the Back To The Future memories. Otherwise, American Psycho is the only reason for them to still be spoken of.

"Jacob's Ladder" is always OK with me. Great song. But that's about it.

And don't forget Bateman also talked about Genesis. Good taste in the man.

You love it. Don't try to say you don't. You smiled when you saw this.
