Guest Renegade Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 "According to Japanese gaming publication Dorimaga, Capcom has decided to cancel its latest 3D fighting game, Capcom Fighting All-Stars. The game was expected to feature a number of characters from various Capcom franchises, including Rival Schools, Final Fight, Street Fighter, and Strider. The gameplay mechanics would have revolved around a five-button setup with two punch buttons, two kick buttons, and a side-step button for avoiding attacks. In addition basic attacks would have canceled each other out if executed at the same time, and the game also featured dramatic counters and finishers. " So its back to 2D then?
Guest razazteca Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Was it suppose to look like the Street Fighter Ex series? Are they working on SNK vs Capcom 3?
Guest Renegade Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Capcom all stars was actually going to be made by Capcom, rather than the EX series, so it would have been much different to the EX games. Capcom vs SNK 3? I doubt it since Capcom haven't announced anything. Although SNK vs Capcom is in development (an arcade sequel of the superb handheld SNK vs Capcom game for the neo geo pocket).
Guest razazteca Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 So Playmore or whatever the parent company SNK is, is developing a fighter vs Capcom? How different will it be from the Capcom game and why not just call it part 3?
Guest Renegade Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Well since the SNK vs Capcom games were very much in the vein of a capcom game trying to implement SNK features, SNK vs Capcom will probably be the exact opposite. This could mean however Capcom characters will be redrawn to fit the "SNK style". Edit: Playmore's release schedule: May - The King of Fighters 2001 (PS2) July - The King of Fighters 2002 (DC) July - Metal Slug Advance (GBA) July - The King of Fighters Advance (GBA) July - Metal Slug 5 (Neo Geo) 2003 - SNK Vs Capcom Advance (GBA) 2003 - SNK Vs Capcom (Neo Geo) So its going to come out for the GBA too.
Guest razazteca Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 So are going to use Strikers?
Guest Renegade Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Dear lord I should hope not. KoF 2002 eliminated the strikers and went back to 3 on 3, but then again its another dream match game so I dont know if its back to 3 on 3 for future Playmore games.
Guest Cavi Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Truth be told, I liked SvC for the NGPC more than the CvS games. It had those cool minigames and whatnot. Damn Capcom for not putting that sort of stuff into the console games.
Guest Pegasus Kid Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 July - The King of Fighters 2002 (DC) AWESOME! Another Dreamcast game. I just got KOF 2K1 a couple of weeks ago and it turned out very well. I can't beat the end boss yet (what's the deal with him taking like no damage?) but it's still a lot of fun. As for All Stars, that game looked like garbage anyway. I'm forced to wonder what Capcom will do next. From what I've read, they're considering closing down their Japanese Arcade Offices and that could mean big trouble for all Street Fighter fans.
Guest Cavi Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Maybe Capcom decided they would finally do a new Street Fighter with completely redrawn sprites in hi-res... Or not.

Cheapdom is taken to a whole new level.
Guest Renegade Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Ah shit its worse than I thought: "Capcom of Japan mentioned that they are planning to cease the development of arcade business, therefore all the current arcade projects are halted or canceled, including Capcom Fighting All-Stars. It is uncertain whether Banpresto and Capcom's co-developed sequel of Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation Vs Zeon has also been canceled or not." No more capcom arcade games? That's just wrong.
