Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Well, after the trouncing my Leafs took at the hands of the Wings tonight (7-2, OUCH), it looks like they may not be able to hang with some of the elite teams in the West. I think now they may try and make a stronger play to the Sharks for Owen Nolan, but I've heard that the Habs were interested in him, as well. I'm not really sure who else is really available this year, (if the Kings fall out of the race, they may try and move Ziggy Palfy) so it may be a little slower this year than usual. Guest Kingpk Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Well we know what the Bruins are going to do: Absloutely nothing!! And they wonder why the fans hate management.

Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Hey now, just because your team actually PAYS its players, and they can't make it to first place, doesn't mean that you have to take it out on me.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Well...my team (the Sabres) are going to be having a firesale. So if your team wants anything....for that matter if you yourself would like to have an NHL player of your very own...you could probably get him for a few sticks of gum. I'm thinking of trading for Miroslav Satan myself...just because I like his name
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 28, 2003 How about Miroslav Satan for one (1) bag of hockey pucks and five (5) broken aluminum stick shafts? It's a steal of a deal! My question is: Who is Colorado going to pick up?
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Those bastards will probably be the ones who end up with Nolan when all is said and done.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 28, 2003 He would certainly be an interesting addition to a team that doesn't need him...
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Nolan used to play for the Qubec/Colorado orgnization. I think he was traded for Sandis Ozolinsh. I've heard rumors that the Flames might deal Iginla. The Hurricanes are looking to dump a few players also.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I think Nolan was traded to San Jose during the Avs first year in Colorado. I've also heard some stuff about the 'Canes getting rid of some players. I've heard that pretty much everyone is available, although I'd assume that Ron Francis isn't going anywhere. You're right he was traded in the Avs first year in Colorado. As for the Canes. I've heard that they're actively shopping Glen Wesley. Who they overpaid to acquire in the first place. Also they want to trade Irbe, but any team who wanted him could've gotten him for free when he cleared waivers a couple of weeks back. If the Blues' goaltending doesn't improve they could try to get him.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I heard that the Blues were interested in getting Sean Burke from Phoenix. For whatever reason, they think that Burke gives them a better chance in the playoffs than either Johnson or Brathwaite does now, even though I don't think Burke's won a playoff series in upwards of 10 years (I know for a fact he's never won one for the Coyotes). I live in St.Louis. In the local paper Larry Pleau ( the gm) said that the asking price and overall salary for Burke was to high. Now as the playoffs near and the goaltending continues to falter, I'm sure the asking price won't seem so high. You're right, Burke isn't a playoff winning goalie. Never has been. However, he did play for the Whalers for a good part of his career so that might have something to do with it.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 28, 2003 True, he played for the Devils and Whalers when they weren't very good, but in his years in Phoenix, he's had teams that were good enough to at least get out of the first round, but no. He's decent enough in the regular season, but so was Roman Turek and the Blues got rid of him.

He's decent enough in the regular season, but so was Roman Turek and the Blues got rid of him. I forgot he played for the Devils. He's also had breif stint with the Flyers. He didn't win anything. I guess if the situation is desperate the Blues will acquire Burke. I remember the Roman Turek deal. The Blues thought they were going to get Hasek from Buffalo, so they felt it was all right to trade Turek for Brathwaite, Daniel Tkazchuk and Sergei Varlamov. As we all know the Wings got Hasek and the Blues were left with Johnson as their starting goalie.
Guest gthureson Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Look for the Oilers to deal Marchant. Why? Because Lowe has come out and said he's not dealing Marchant. That's always been NHL-speak for 'Don't buy a house or anything.'
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I really hope the Sharks don't trade Nolan as he's the heart of the team. He may not be the goal scorer he was back when he was a youngster with Qubec but he's such a talented all-around player. The team will not be the same without him. Also on the trade block from the Sharks......... - Adam Graves. No idea who is interested in him but I wouldn't mind seeing him go. A 2nd round pick in this year's draft would be fine by me. - Scott Thornton. Apparently Ottawa keeps calling non-stop about him - Vincent Damphousse. Toronto is inteterested - Bryan Marchment. Toronto, Ottawa, Detroit and a bunch of other team's want him. If anyone gets traded it'll be him. His contract is up at season's end - Teemu Selanne. Its a long-shot but if our GM Dean Lombardi hears a good offer, he could be gone. I believe he has a team option in his contract for next season. Don't wanna see him go either. - Nolan. The last I heard is that Toronto is offering up Alyn McCauley, a 2003 first-round pick and top Leafs forward prospect Brad Boyes. Sounds like a lot but I really hope they don't trade him. We need new prospects as our farm system was ranked 28 of 30 but I'd rather we try to rebuild with Owen rather than without him. The other team looking to heavily unload is L.A with Bryan Smolinski, Aaron Miller, Felix Potvin, Dmitri Yushkevich and (amazingly) Ziggy Palffy all up for auction. Management wants to cut salary. Martin Straka might be out of Pittsburgh. It must be mighty rough to be a Pittsburgh resident. On the Hurricanes, you name em' they're on the block. Wesley and Irbe seem to be the two names popping up the most. Brindamour was mentioned as trade bait awhile back as well. Briant Leech will be on the market if the Rangers suddenly fall out of the race for the 8th spot. Florida wants to get rid of Valeri Bure at any cost Buffalo wants to dump Gratton and Zhitnik for sure I believe. They don't wanna trade Satan but they might let him go for the right price. Anyone heard anything lately about Iginla getting traded? That 4 goal game against Phx really quashed all trade rumors.
Guest cartman Report post Posted February 28, 2003 MAYBE the Bruins will supri...Nahhhh. Actually I heard they are interested in Jeff O'niell, that would be nice. As for Irbe, if anyone actually trades something for him they are retarded. He got smoked last friday by the Providence Bruins 6-0, Nuff said.

Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I hope that the Canucks do something, but they're not really a trade deadline kinda team. They generally make their trades in the early going, like getting Marik Malik and Trevor Linden (awesome move picking up Linden for nothing, as he's universally loved here). But hey, they're a cup contender, and hopefully they can pick up someone to help out. Another scorer like Palffy certainly wouldn't hurt.

Guest Karnage Report post Posted March 3, 2003 My Canucks probably won't make any blockbuster trades. New York Rangers will probably get a big name player and then still not make it to the playoffs.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 3, 2003 New York Rangers will probably get a big name player and then still not make it to the playoffs. Well, they already did, kinda. Kovalev was one of the more desired players, and they're currently 3 points out of 8th, so it's par for the course right now. And while Yuskevich went back to his old team, I was kinda hoping it'd be the Leafs, not the Flyers. If things hold up he'll be FACING the Leafs in the playoffs. Bloody hell...
